Mr. Bennet takes Hana to the Alaskan tundra, where she is stunned by the aurora borealis. She spends several weeks at the Alaskan facility run by the Company. At long last, Hana realizes her powers, and communicates by sending electronic messages with her mind.

Hana remembers her time in Alaska with Mr. Bennet. They rough it out in the tundra, braving snow, wind, and mountains. Hana perceives an influx of electronic communication which makes her sick. Frustrated and angry, she punches Mr. Bennet square in the nose, breaking his glasses.
