About
Before his work on Heroes, Bill worked on Malcolm in the Middle as an assistant to the writers for five years, and wrote the episode Poker #2. Bill also was a production associate for Mr. Show and the Incredible, Fantastical News Report. In 2006, Bill wrote, produced, directed and acted (as the "ass grab guy") in Convincing Benny.

Trivia
- Bill Hooper appears in a photo as James Martin (Into Asylum), and later his image is used to depict the same character in a graphic novel (Cog). According to Bill, the photo was originally a photo of the propmaster Ross Anderson. However, Ross was "grinning from ear to ear," and NBC wanted a photo that was scarier looking for the scene where Danko walked around with the photo. The issue came up during a production meeting, and Dennis Hammer looked back at Bill (who "was wearing a beanie and [his] typical thinking scowl") and he said, "What about Bill?" Mark Spatny said, "Bill totally looks like he could be a serial killer." The room erupted in laughter, and Stargate ended up digitally replacing the photo for the whole scene.
- At the beginning of Redemption, the author of a newspaper article about mysterious drownings is shown to be Bill Hooper.
- When Samuel Sullivan brings a lawsuit against Peter (Ink), he uses the alias "William Hooper".
