Slow Burn

In chapter 2 of Slow Burn, Jennie meets Deeana while wandering around the carnival. They talk, and Deeana soon has to leave. She says they'll keep in touch via phone, but Jennie says that she doesn't have one. Deeana is shocked that people at the carnival are not allowed to have phones, and gives Jennie her phone, saying that her parents will buy her anything she wants. She instructs Jennie on how to use it, and Jennie thanks her. Deeana then leaves.

Notes

• Deanna says she is about the same age as Jennie Bowman (chapter 2 of Slow Burn). Jennie Bowman is eight years old.
