Sylar's escape

So ... how exactly did he jump out of a speeding truck and into the upper branches of a tree? This is the second time he's disappeared vertically (One Giant Leap). Can he fly? (And if so, why not just fly away?) Can he jump really high? And can he move really quickly (like he seems to in Homecoming), since such an escape would take pretty precise reflexes? (I don't think we need to worry about adding anything to an article yet, but it's never too earlier to get to speculatin'.)--Hardvice (talk) 13:34, 15 February 2007 (EST)

  • Does telekinesis include moving your own body? No need for flight, then, eh? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:14, 15 February 2007 (EST)
    • Well, yeah. That would be my guess, too, especially since the writers seem fond of the "clever uses of telekinesis" approach. But the guy does have a whole slew of unaccounted-for powers, and they made a point of showing us two of his "does-he-or-doesn't-he" powers in this GN, so I was wondering if this was meant to be a third.--Hardvice (talk) 17:12, 16 February 2007 (EST)
      • Hmm, I didn't really get that from the comic. If they wanted to point it out to us like they did with memory and freezing, they would have probably shown Sylar actually jumping. All they showed was him in the truck, cut to the truck crashing (main focus) & Sylar in a tree. They left too much speculation. Maybe that was their point, but I didn't get that it was a new power. It'd be cool if it was. Maybe he stole it from a flea. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:46, 16 February 2007 (EST)
        • You're right about it not being very explicit. Eidetic memory had a flashback and cryokinesis had several tons of cop cars skidding to a crash. The only thing that made it stand out at all was his "have to time this precisely" comment and the absurd height of the tree.--Hardvice (talk) 17:52, 16 February 2007 (EST)
          • I was looking at the NBC photos of Sylar's Apartment to see if they may give insight to additional powers he's acquired. They certainly show a religiosity and obsession with how the human body and brain works. Bkdelong 20:00, 17 February 2007 (EST)
          • Okay, Jason Badower posted on 9thwonders.com and said, "It specifically says in the script that he is telekinetically moving himself away from the falling truck on page 5 and they made sure to mention that he is NOT FLYING.". Okay, thanks Jason! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:02, 17 February 2007 (EST)
            • Also, it looks like the time on the watch was just a mistake:
Idallia: I see Sylar still has his broken watch...but the time is not seven minutes to midnight.
JB: I never made that connection. Is that why that episode was named that? Is that what the time should be? I will remember next time!

Two Powers at Once

  • While Sylar is freezing the road his other hand is glowing a blow light I guess to represent he is using telekinesis. I think everyone was too excited about cyrokinesis again to notice this. But this would be cool because maybe Peter could use two at once also. Or maybe not in the other events. But anyway I just thought I should put that out there. User: Jason Garrick
    • Good thought, but I'm not sure he was using telekinesis. In fact, Jason Badower specifically said he made sure that Sylar's hand was close enough to the road to freeze it, yet he was still driving the cab. I don't think there was anything telekinetic about that part. As for using two powers at once, I think Peter used space-time manipulation and telekinesis to stop the taser darts -- he either used them at the same time or in quick succession of one another. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:39, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
      • I think he's referring to Sylar's right hand (he misspelled "blue" and wrote "blow"), in which case I think it's supposed to be the light inside the cab. Sylar's TK doesn't show any light in any examples shown so far, so I don't see how his hand is glowing blue light while using it. Letting go of the wheel of a vehicle for a few seconds would not make it unstable, especially when it's a heavy or when it's moving fast (fast enough to be in a police chase), so he wouldn't need to use TK to continue to drive while he opened the door.--Bob 23:47, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
        • Ah, blue! I see the blue you're talking about, Jason. I don't know exactly what that is, but my guess would be the cab light. If you'd like to ask Jason, he's very responsive to his blog. But really, that's a colorist thing. If you'd like me to ask Annette Kwok, I can. I don't think she wants to give out her email address, though, so just let me know. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:52, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
          • Ok, I asked Jason. Thanks for that advice Ryan. But I actually think I got it. He is obviously using cryokinesis with one hand and the other hand I think he is holding on to the truck "railing". You know how in everycar there is that thing that you can put your dry cleaning on but you can also hold on too? I think that is what he is holding onto. Jason Garrick 12:11, 9 April 2007 (EDT)
            • Woo!! Jason responded back. He said that the distance between the wheel and his hand was too far so "hello tk!". Interesting! I hope they use cryokinesis in the show again. Such a cool power. Jason Garrick 13:00, 9 April 2007 (EDT)

Main Image

Is there another main image we can use? I just think the one we have now has too much text in it and I think we could probably get a better picture of Sylar using Cryokinesis or something else. I know the current picture explains where the story was going, but it still doesn't look right to me--Hiroman 05:11, 2 November 2009 (EST)
