Below are some common templates that are used throughout the site.

Formatting and Substitution

These templates alter the formatting of information or are used to substitute one value for another.

  • Template:blurb, Template:blurbclose--used together these enclose a block of text within a "blurb". (e.g. {{blurb}}This is text in a blurb{{blurbclose}} returns
This is text in a blurb
  • Template:ep--takes an episode or graphic novel number and returns the name of the episode or graphic novel (e.g. {{ep|101}} returns Genesis and {{ep|gn01}} returns Monsters)
  • Template:nbl--creates a non-breaking link to an article; non-breaking means that the text will not be wrapped onto multiple lines (e.g. {{nbl|Heroes|Article about ''Heroes''}} returns Article about Heroes; "Article about Heroes" will not wrap onto multiple lines if it cannot fit on one line; it will remain entirely on one line)

Boilerplate

These templates add a boilerplate notice that usually goes at the top of an article. The intention is to draw immediate attention to something affecting the entire article.

  • Template:afd--indicates that the article has been nominated for deletion and may be deleted in the near future
  • Template:archivepage--indicates that the page is an archive of past information and should not be modified
  • Template:fancreation--indicates that the page is a fan creation and that its information is not canon
  • Template:spoiler--indicates that the page contains spoiler information; pages using this template should usually be in the spoiler namespace
  • Template:stub--indicates that the information on the page is very incomplete and that the page is intended as a basic placeholder pending the addition of more information
