Michael Perfitt's job involves digitally recording and mixing the score for each episode. He discusses some of his work in the video series Inside Heroes and explains there the general process that is used.

Besides his work on Heroes, Michael Perfitt has worked with various singers and musicians on their albums. He is credited as producer, engineer and mixer for Smash Mouth's album Summer Girl (2006), digital editor and engineer for Natasha Bedingfield's album Unwritten (2004), and engineer for Toby Lightman's album Bird on A Wire (2006).

Additionally, Michael was the bassist, keyboardist, guitarist, programmer, songwriter, and general performer for the band "papercranes". He also played the bass on Zero, the album by River Phoenix's band "Aleka's Attic". He was the engineer for "Art of Noise"'s The Seduction Of Claude Debussy and Seal's Human Being Seal. He mixed Anastacia's album anastacia and "Blue October"'s album Foiled.
