About

Nichelle Nichols was born in Robbins, Illinois. While studying in New York, she began her acting, singing, and occasional modeling work. After touring around the world with bands, she was casted as "Lt. Uhura" in the Star Trek series. She gained a lot of popularity and attention at that time, partly due to the fact that she was one of the first black females to be casted in a major television show.

After the cancellation of Star Trek, Nichelle has been involved with a NASA space project and continued her acting career in the same time, playing different roles in recent movies like Lady Magdalene's, Are We There Yet?, and Snow Dogs.

Nichelle appeared with Antonio Fargas in G vs E.
