4/04—A new NBC .07% Preview is released, further advancing the premise that Austin is Linderman, containing the following exchange about healing between Linderman and Nathan:

Linderman: "I care about the world. I just want to save it...to heal it."

Nathan: "What could you possibly know about healing?"

Linderman: "A few things..." (Linderman proceeds to touch and then wave his hand over a wilted, dying flower, and heals it as Nathan watches)

3/28—Michael Ausiello implies that Linderman's power is the same as Ben Hawkins from Carnivàle, who could heal others—which would increase the likelihood that Austin is Linderman. (Ask Ausiello)
According to his blog, Jason Badower, the artist for War Buddies, Parts 4 and 5, said that Austin's identity will be revealed at the end of Part 5. However, he has shown his art to some of his close friends, and they were all able to guess who Austin was with 100% certainty. Regarding the identities of Austin and Dallas, he gives one clue: "We haven't even met one of the people".

Fan Theories

Ausiello's implication is further strengthened when comparing the uncanny resemblance between the Vietnam-era drawings of Austin to a Vietnam-era picture of Malcolm McDowell.
Also, Notice the similarity of the facial position and eyes, between Austin (pictured with Dallas), and the Linderman and Malcolm McDowell (1971) photos below it.
