Disambig

I took the liberty of disambiguating (is that even a word?) the links to this page. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 21:19, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Name

User:Shadowulf1 15:38, 14 April 2009 (EDT) If it's the ability to absorb life-force, regardless of the rotting factor, it should be called Life-Force Absorption.

No idea what to call this. Definitely something related to decay/rotting and the link. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 21:21, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

  • Sound like aura absorption. BoomerDay 22:58, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
    • We don't know as to whether this Linda sees auras... I was going to call it life-force absorption, but since we don't know whether or not it works both ways--it might be life-force transference instead. That's something Linda was never shown to do. I'm curious as to how this Linda gained her rotting appearance before Anna arrived; knowing that could help things a lot.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:05, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
      • I would say that if you don't know the limits, manipulation would work because it doesn't specify or rule out possible limits. For example, Time manipulation can refer to: traveling through time, stopping it, slowing it down, reversing it, or any combination of the above. I would say that Life-force manipulation could mean any combination of absorbing life-force, transferring life-force, ect. "Manipulating" would be to control it in some means. This would leave it open to all options without choosing one specific part of the ability. --Bender 01:33, 13 April 2009 (EDT)
        • I think saying it is manipulation would be as speculative as saying it is just absorption at this point. I also think there are just too many unknowns to come up with a non-speculative name for this ability until we know more.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:15, 13 April 2009 (EDT)

I dislike speculative names as well, however I agree that it has something to do with life force, but not manipulation. I think an appropriate name would be Age Transferal, or Life-Force Transferal, however until we have more information, I think Linda's Ability is best. Just putting in my two cents. :) --Serphaty

  • How about zombie mimicry? --Gibbeynator 14:28, 19 April 2009 (EDT)
    • Anna makes 'Zombies' as in she effects the brains, Linda's ability seems to age someone and make her younger. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Is this

  • Is this her?--Skyeatsout (talk) 01:27, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
    • Well, as far as we know, Linda Tavara is dead and so this ability belongs to this new woman. PS: I added your signature for you. Please remember to add it by typing --~~~~ after your message or clicking the java signature button. Thanks!--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:19, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
      • Yeah, but it is strange that 2 Evolved Humans with the same name would have so similar powers....I think they are different people too, but with Heroes we never can be sure;)--Sylar Fan09 17:24, 14 April 2009 (EDT)

          • That would be cool, and it would make Istory even better because that way we would have a charter we are already familiar with.--Sylar Fan09 23:22, 16 April 2009 (EDT)
  • I know i needed that , i made that comment when i was half way asleep ,you can tell it from my spelling--Skyeatsout 23:25, 16 April 2009 (EDT)

Delete, Undelete, Delete

Sorry about the recent deletion, restoration, and redeletion (is that a word?) or "Life-Force Absorption". Besides being incorrectly named (names of abilities are not capitalized in the title case), I don't see any consensus on this page for that title. As well, when a power name does have consensus, the page should be moved, not simply copied and pasted or redirected. If anybody needs more explanation on how to do any of that, please let me know on my talk page. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:42, 20 April 2009 (EDT)

Suitable names?

So far we only have two names (other than Linda's ability), I think that Life force manipulation or Life force absorption are the best. Does anyone have any others too add? --posted by Laughingdevilboy Talk 13:37, 20 April 2009 (EDT)

  • Aura absorption (Linda Tavara, <-?-?-?-> Linda Niles): The ability to perceive the aura of others, and to absorb that aura. Absorbing the auras of evolved humans has been shown to allow the user to manifest their power. -- Mike the Man-child!
    • There is no evidence that she can see aura's and as far as we know only living things have aura's. Anyways the problem now is do we call this Linda's or Leona's ability. Or do we have a consensus on life force manipulation/absorption? --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Aura absorption

  • There's a difference between absorbing an aura, as Linda did, and stealing life force. Until they're revealed to be the same ability, I'm opposed to this name. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:19, 23 April 2009 (EDT)

Life force transferal

Life force absorption

Uhh... Can objects have life force? It only came to me now. If objects don't have it, I don't see this name working. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 14:20, 24 April 2009 (EDT)

i agree with you, objects don't have a lifeforce like sentient beings as well as plants and animals, so what is a good name for this power, it seems that her ability absorbs energy for water from organic things, the chair is wooden right?--Zoga78 00:45, 27 April 2009 (EDT)

  • Objects have a different kind of life force... it's more of a "life span", but I think that calling it a "life force", especially since the only object Leona drained was a wooden chair (wood technically having plant energies), is okay.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:52, 27 April 2009 (EDT)

Life force or life-force?

  • I added a redirect for now. I'm not sure if there is a correct spelling. The Stargate wiki seems to spell it without the dash, so I guess it's okay as-is.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:38, 2 May 2009 (EDT)
    • That's one of those words that can either be hyphenated or not (like "as-is"). Personally, I prefer no hyphen (as I prefer no hyphen in most words), and I think that is the way it's preferred. Either way, you're right--it's okay as it is. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:25, 2 May 2009 (EDT)

Age transferal

In Interview:iStory follow up, writer Tom Inkel clarifies that Leona can transfer age to and from a person, and that she can't heal or take another person's abilities using her own ability. To me, this means her ability should now be "age transferal" or the more scientific term "temporal transference", since "life force transferal" implies the healing aspect. Thoughts? I've added a rename tag for some discussion.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:45, 24 May 2009 (EDT)

  • I like age transferal but wont mind if it is temporal, thought I do think there will be some confusion over the term, sometimes simpler is better. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Benjamin Washington a.k.a. "Knox"'s power is to transfer strength. So it's a bit like a vampiric version of Niki Sanders' ability in Seasons One and Two (I think they should merge.) -- Mike the Man-child!

Knox's power has never been to transfer strength, he doesn't take strength from someone making them weaker, he converts people's fear into strength, that's a very different thing. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 11:53, 25 May 2009 (EDT)

  • Well I didn't mean literally, their fear is his strength (but that's besides the point, they are still very similar.) -- Mike the Man-child!
  • Age transferral will work perfectly. -- Psilaq R.- U -T- C- 15:34, 25 May 2009 (EDT)
    • I agree, I think "age transferal" is a good name, now that a writer has given us a bit more information. I'll go ahead and make the change since it seems that there is no opposition, and since this is information coming directly from a writer. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:37, 25 May 2009 (EDT)

Image

Our choices are very limited, but in chapter 12 of the iStory, there's an image of Leona after she gives some of her youth to some rotting wood. Would it be okay to use that as the main image? It's not very good, but it's the best we've got.--Laudo 15:05, 3 June 2009 (EDT)

  • That picture is beautiful lol like it tho --Lolwut 17:39, 15 July 2009 (EDT)
