Sally sent me an mp3 of her singing--it's a short selection from her album The Contralto. It's really quite nice, and I'm impressed with her singing. Would it be appropriate to upload a two-minute selection of Sally singing Carmen? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:27, 24 January 2008 (EST)

  • How big is it? (Admin 21:33, 24 January 2008 (EST))
    • 2.12 MB. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:34, 24 January 2008 (EST)
      • Since she's a member of the cast, I don't mind as long as it's ok with her. (Admin 21:35, 24 January 2008 (EST))
        • Mind? She's jumping at the chance to have her music heard! :) I'll upload it now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:40, 24 January 2008 (EST)
          • Hmm. It's saying the file is bigger than the server is configured to allow. Is there a way to make the file smaller? Compress it? Chop it? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:45, 24 January 2008 (EST)
            • Try now. (Admin 21:49, 24 January 2008 (EST))
              • Thanks. I'm assuming you adjusted something in the server? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:53, 24 January 2008 (EST)
                • Yeah, one of the limits was at at 2MB, so I increased it temporarily... I'm going to set it back down because generally no one should be uploading anything close to 2MB. (Admin 21:55, 24 January 2008 (EST))
                  • Perfect. I'll let Sally know she's special. :) Thanks, Admin! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:57, 24 January 2008 (EST)
  • What program are you using to play this audio? My Windows Media Player is saying it's incomplete or corrupted.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:02, 24 January 2008 (EST)
    • Media Player Classic. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:04, 24 January 2008 (EST)
    • Anything with Ogg Vorbis support should play it. Mine played in mplayer just fine, haven't checked xmms but I haven't had problems with Ogg in the past. (Admin 22:07, 24 January 2008 (EST))
      • Just installed Ogg support in Windows Media Player using the illiminable codec for Win2K, but I'm getting the same error.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:22, 24 January 2008 (EST)
        • I've never had luck with Windows Media Player, even after installing ogg support. I gave up on it and use MPC--I like the screencaps it gives me on video files, too. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:30, 24 January 2008 (EST)
          • Thanks for the tips, I'll check out MPC tommorrow when I have more time.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:35, 24 January 2008 (EST)

Open door?

  • Just to be clear, is it okay to add small clips of a cast member's music only if they ask for it to be added, or can we add it if the copyright allows it. For instance, short clips are sometimes allowed for identification purposes.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:57, 24 January 2008 (EST)
    • My overriding concern in this case is the bandwidth consumed, so I don't want us adding audio/video media indiscriminately. That's for companies like YouTube to deal with. :) Since Sally was interested in having it here I was willing to make an exception. All files uploaded should generally remain under 150k which is why you get a warning when you go to upload something larger. (Admin 22:05, 24 January 2008 (EST))
      • Sally offered to send me like three or four clips, but I told her I wasn't even sure I could upload one. I think if we get a request, that's one thing (I believe strongly in trying to cater to the cast and crew if we can and it's appropriate), but we generally don't need to upload clips unless they further illustrate the world of Heroes. Just my opinion. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:16, 24 January 2008 (EST)
        • That's exactly how I feel, too. (Admin 22:17, 24 January 2008 (EST))
          • I like that policy, as I don't want to see the wiki bogged down with lengthy downloads of music clips either. Is it okay to add it to the help somewhere? Help:Media content, maybe?--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:33, 24 January 2008 (EST)
            • I think it could be incorporated into Help:Images with some minor renaming of the article if necessary. (Admin 22:38, 24 January 2008 (EST))

Website designer needed

Sally is looking for a website designer to vamp up her website. I would love to do it, but I'm unable to at the moment. I told Sal I would ask at Heroes Wiki since I'm pretty sure some of you have had experience with design. She's given me lots of details on what she wants. If you're interested in the job, let me know. You can either respond here or email me at my ryangibsonstewart [at] hotmail [dot] com. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:58, 31 January 2008 (EST)

Wow.

For a woman who is turning 90 years old this year, she sure looks good! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:22, 22 February 2009 (EST)

  • Yeah, she's doing well. I assume she already found a web designer?--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:31, 22 February 2009 (EST)
    • Looks like it. She's working on a new website for her production company, which I think is called Hot Dog & Lipstick. I'm impressed with her knowledge of the web, too. The only 60+ person I've seen who can navigate the web as well is my mom. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:15, 22 February 2009 (EST)
      • I thought it was wrong written, but it really is true:O she is really 90 years old, she really looks fantastic :O (Does she got the power of rapid cell regeneration or something lol?)--Yoshi n1 12:35, 6 November 2009 (EST)
        • That's not her real age. She places that age on the web to see what people say and to hide her real age. Sassy woman! Anyway, I don't know how old she is, but she's not 90. Case solved (sorta). -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:40, 10 November 2009 (EST)
          • Aw, pity, I was like OMFG when I read she's 90 while she's actually not. Green.gif AltesUTC CH
