The rule of Ted is a general principle within Heroes that a person is immune to the natural detremental results of their special ability. The "rule of Ted" was coined in a CBR interview. Joe Pokaski or Aron Coleite was quoted as saying, "the oven can’t be hurt by the heat." while describing how Meredith was able to survive the effects of her own ability. The "rule of Ted" was most likely meant to explain how Ted Sprague was able to survive the effects of his induced radioactivity when everyone else was harmed by it.
