Alex was part of the grassroots effort to fix the cracks in the San Andreas fault by affixing sand bags to holes in the Earth's crust deep below the water's surface. After the Epidemic, he was barely able to surface and swim back to a San Diego beach where Zack Kline and Archie Kang, who were filming a college project, help him onto shore.
Zach and Alex are revealed to become good friends. It is Zach who introduces Alex and Claire, who have an intense casual romance while working together at Primatech Barstow, starting in 2015.
In 2026, Alex is promoted to Human Resources Director of Primatech Midland, where he become reacquainted with Claire. In the interim, Alex was married to an unnamed woman who convinced him to move from field agent to human resources officer, who he divorced before moving to Midland. Though he and Claire decide initially to remain friends, but a few years later, they are in a serious romantic relationship. On a cruise one year into the relationship, Alex proposes, wanting to take Claire with him to Hartsdale, where he is being offered the HRD job at Primatech Headquarters. Claire refuses and the two break up.
When Claire returns to Hartsdale in 2029, Alex is the HRD there, and they again become reacquainted. They sleep together again, but the status of their relationship is unclear.
"I don’t blame you."
