Ability to: Make something canon.

Induced Canonicity is the ability to make an event in the Heroes-verse canon, even if it doesn't make sense or is contradictory to other information.

Examples of Induced Canonicity

Villains

During Sylar's expanded origin story, it was revealed that Noah was responsible for making him a killer. He later phoned his supervisor to tell him that his mission (discovering how Sylar aquires abilities) was completed. After that, he gets in a cab driven by Mohinder and asks to go to JFK Airport.

This directly contradicts information provided in Genesis, as Mohinder only arrived in America after his father's death at the hands of Sylar - an already established serial killer. Therefore, if Noah had just begun Sylar's killing spree, then Mohinder shouldn't have been in America, as Chandra wasn't dead yet. However, due to the writer's induced canonicity, both events are canon.

Flint also mentions that he was tackled by an invisible man - an obvious referece to Claude. However Claude at that time was presumed dead by the Company.

Matt Neuenberg Graphic Novels

The 3 graphic novels, The Man with Too Much Brains, Hana and Drucker's Plot Discovered and The End of Hana and Drucker are supposed to be set in 2008. In these novels, Elle and Bob are alive and well. However, in The Butterfly Effect, Bob is killed and in The Eclipse, Part 2, Elle is shown dead. These events happen in 2007. Way to go writers.
