Coyote Sands; a haven for evolved humans. Well that’s what they told us anyway. We had arrived here almost two months ago, yet they were still conducting their “tests”. There were armed guards surrounding the entire camp. They say it’s for our own protection, but I don’t think so. Something seems out of place at the camp; a dark evil, a hidden agenda? My dreams of late don’t seem to be of much help. They’re so confusing; I just can’t seem to make any sense of them.
Charles and the boys have come up with a great plan. We’re going to sneak out, but I have to make sure Alice doesn’t follow us. I don’t want to lie to her but its going to be the only way to keep her here.
I told her that I dreamt she’d be safe if she stayed here. She believed me, without question. I couldn’t believe what I’d just done but I just hope I don’t regret it. We snuck out and headed for the Coyote Sands café. It was small, out of the way, but it allowed us to be free, free from this prison they called a “Relocation centre”.
Back at Coyote Sands, Dr Suresh had received new information about Alice and her ability. He took her into Building 26 to begin conducting his “tests” on her.
“Now I’m just going to give you a little injection, it won’t hurt.”
“No, I don’t want to!”
“Now just calm down it won’t hurt.”
As Chandra reached in to inject Alice, a thunderstorm began to stir outside. A gust of wind blew the door open and a bolt of lightning followed. Alice ran out of the room and Chandra followed. Chandra reached out and grabbed Alice by the arm.
“Calm down Alice! Calm down!”
“Just calm down!”
Chandra raised his hand and struck Alice across the face. At that moment Mr Shaw realised what had happened and used his ability to propel Chandra away from Alice. Suddenly the guards began to fire; they were aiming for anyone and everyone. It was a massacre, there were bullets flying in all directions. They had no chance, not against that sort of firepower, nobody survived.
Later, Angela, Bobby, Charles and Daniel had just viewed a weather report on television regarding the storm over Coyote Sands.
“Oh no, it’s Alice! Come on let’s go.”
The group left the café in a hurry and headed for the camp. As they began nearing the camp, the fires of the burning carcasses could be seen in the distance.
“No, no, no!!!!”
“Oh my god, what happened?”
“They’ve all been killed.”
“Daniel you can heal them, can’t you?”
“I can’t heal the dead!”
“Well what good is that?”
“It’s not my fault.”
“What good are these abilities if we can’t use them to protect the ones we love?”
“Mum, Dad, Alice………..”
“They’re all dead! They’re all dead!!!”
“Bobby! Calm down, Charles, Daniel, get it together………let’s get out of here, there’s nothing here for us now.”
As the camp was engulfed in flames the group turned and walked away. They were dead, they were all dead. Coyote Sands was once again, turned into the barren wasteland it once was.
