Unknown female

Did you ask in one of the interviews what her real name was? Therequiembellishere 15:53, 2 February 2008 (EST)

  • Didn't get around to it. Sorry. It's probably a good question for a prop guy, whom I would love to interview... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:23, 2 February 2008 (EST)

my writing skills

Thank you for the compliment, but looking at this aberration, I don't think my writing skills are all that great when it comes to summarizing things. My keyboard-facilitated talk page orations can be things of brilliance, and my editing-for-flow skills hold their own, but I don't think my skills are at all good enough for creating summaries for characters like those suggested here. Besides, my brain and time will also be taxed with homework this semester.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:58, 3 February 2008 (EST)

  • I don't think you give yourself enough credit, but at least you know your strengths and weaknesses. Practice makes perfect! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:05, 3 February 2008 (EST)

Thanks.

Thank you so very much for the help that you've been giving me.

I'm kind of new to the whole Wiki thing, and I was really just trying to get the site out there, while also expressing my love of 'Heroes'.

Just...thanks...a lot

  • No problem, that's what I'm here for. The page looks great. When you're all done with it, I might clean it up with standard headings and such, but the content looks awesome. Nice job. If you have any questions about anything (be it wiki-related or Heroes-related), please let me know. Have fun editing! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:24, 3 February 2008 (EST)
    • Well, technically I am finished. I invited some other users over to edit it, but for now I think that it's done...or at least until tomorrow. I need sleep.

Thanks!

Hey, this is Jonathan, the creator of "Heroes Side Story", on youtube. I just wanted to thank you for all the editing and help you've given me on my page on here. It's been a great help.

CBR Interview Coverage

Do you know if CBR has linked to Interview:Adam Armus and Kay Foster? I know they've covered the previous interviews but I didn't catch a link to this one. I know they are slow to check their e-mail, but it's been a while now...--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:39, 5 February 2008 (EST)

On the denizens of Lostpedia....

I recently got back into Lost. I created an account and a a userpage there Identifying myself in case I edit anything over there. I know that you are also registered user there. Question: Are they as friendly a lot as we are, or do you have enough experience with them to know that?--SacValleyDweller (talk) 18:59, 7 February 2008 (EST)

  • When I've asked for help, they've been extremely helpful. But I honestly don't edit there too much (it's a fantastic wiki, but it's not my style), and don't have a lot of interaction with other users. I can say that we have a lot of "crossover" users (Ohmyn0 and Lost Soul come to mind), and I can tell you that they have been very friendly. I've also never had a negative interaction with any Lostpedia editors. That's about the best I can say. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:27, 7 February 2008 (EST)

Crewnav

OK, See Also for Evolutions crew should be working. LMK if anything looks mucked up. Incidentally, next crew portal will require 256 combinations. I'll see if I can't figure out an automated method; it's getting a bit silly.--Hardvice (talk) 03:49, 8 February 2008 (EST)

John O'Hara

  • Could you check the article John O'Hara? There was a change to the graduation date and I can't confirm whether the user making the changes was John O'Hara, so if you know for certain the original information was correct you can revert the updates. (Admin 00:49, 9 February 2008 (EST))
    • I got the information from here. I'd rather just take the graduation date out altogether. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:31, 9 February 2008 (EST)

September

  • Hey Ryan, can you believe the strike is coming to an end?! Hooray! Anyway... I heard on the radio this morning that NBC made an announcement that Heroes will not return until the fall. Is there some place we can put that on the front page? Jason Garrick 16:20, 12 February 2008 (EST)
    • Very cool! I read the same thing in Entertainment Weekly. However, things have yet to be officially worked out. For instance, NBC could overrule Tim Kring and have three episodes come out before the season is over. Once a decision is finally made, we'll put a link to an external news source in our news section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:00, 12 February 2008 (EST)

Chicken Legs??!!

Hey man,

I was just looking for reference for the next Heroes Webcomic, and came across your feature on me entitled "Chicken Legs"...It was pretty hilarious man! I definitely got a good laugh out of it. Lots of people have commented on the fact that I give my characters skinny ankles, and I've actually been thickening them up A BIT in the last couple things I've done, but I still like to exaggerate that, particularly on females:) Anyway, thanks for the laugh!

Micah

  • Micah, I'm glad you had a good laugh. No offense meant--in fact, I'm really a huge fan of your work and really love your style, otherwise I wouldn't have dedicated a page to it, even if it is humor-based. :) ... Hey, I would love to talk to you at some point about the work you've done on Heroes. You've got a really prolific body of work, and I know there are lots of fans who have a ton of questions for you. How would you feel about doing an interview? Drop me an email at ryangibsonstewart [at] heroeswiki [dot] com. Thanks, Micah, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:26, 13 February 2008 (EST)
    • I've always wondered what Micah's reaction to the page would be if he saw it. This is definitely one of the more favorable reactions.  :] -- Lulu (talk) 10:30, 13 February 2008 (EST)
      • I've read tons of Micah's comments on blogs, message boards, MySpace, etc. He definitely has a healthy sense of humor. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:32, 13 February 2008 (EST)
    • That's too funny. :) (Admin 10:50, 13 February 2008 (EST))
  • Thanks for the kind words Ryan! I'm definitely down for the interview...I sent you an e-mail. - Micah
    • Awesome! Let me gather some questions and I'll email them to you. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:35, 13 February 2008 (EST)

fair-use

Since DarthYotho uploaded images of himself we can get rid of the fair-use tags on the Confrontations images since they're covered by the general site copyright policy. (Admin 15:57, 13 February 2008 (EST))

Season 3 spoilers

  • Thanks for the help with the season 3 spoiler articles. I don't frequent the spoiler pages too much so I'm a bit rusty on exactly they're setup/maintained. (Admin 01:24, 16 February 2008 (EST))
    • Last summer I worked on the Season Two spoilers, but I always have to remind myself how they're set up. Good idea about boosting our ranking on Google, though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:25, 16 February 2008 (EST)
      • I always keep the big picture in mind and try to think of ways to boost our popularity even more. I work behind the scenes to try to make the site even more successful and to help promote the localized copies of Heroes Wiki in order to help expand our popularity even beyond the English-speaking audience. (Admin 01:29, 16 February 2008 (EST))
        • That's great because I'm always working to tear down the site. :) I actually just got contact information for about ten different blogs, message boards, and other fan sites in Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, and French. I'll include them on my "press releases" I send out when I do interviews. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:31, 16 February 2008 (EST)
          • That's so great. Heroes has such a global audience that I want to make sure we give enough attention to people in other countries as well. I think a lot of people in those countries understand English which lets them use this site in particular, but some of the other sites like the German site are pretty popular, too, so I always want to make sure we're doing what we can to accommodate them. (Admin 01:35, 16 February 2008 (EST))
            • Even still, there are fans who prefer to check message boards or blogs, and they don't always check the wiki. Afterall, we're more of a reference site than one where you go to socialize, check the news, or post fanfic. I figure if we try to cover as many sites as possible, we'll reach even those who haven't heard of us....And then we can take over the world. Mu ha ha ha! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:51, 16 February 2008 (EST)
              • I find that since we have such comprehensive material that we get linked to from an ever increasing number of boards and blogs. Your plan to directly reach out to even more blogs/boards when we have new interviews is a fantastic idea as it helps increase our exposure and helps get the information out there to the fans. You remember Future Hiro's saying, "Promote the wiki, take over the world." I think that's what he said, I could be remembering it wrong. ;) (Admin 01:58, 16 February 2008 (EST))
                • Cute.... I think that's one of the reasons the Chuck Kim interview got so big--between a translation into Portuguese and the Sarmy's call to arms, the interview didn't stand a chance of being lost in obscurity! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:03, 16 February 2008 (EST)
                  • That was a big reason I started the thread on 9thwonders.com. Since the popularity of the interviews is driven by the fans I think trying to get interviews they're interested in is a good idea. On the same token, I think your technique of going after the people behind the scenes (which I think is an excellent idea) helps bring people and information to the foreground that fans never knew they even wanted to know about. (Admin 02:08, 16 February 2008 (EST))
                    • Honestly, it's a combination of interviewing people I'm interested in, and interviewing people who will talk to me. It started with Interview:Jason La Padura (which I probably would have never done had you not suggested it), which really only came about because I was searching for information about him. He's impossible to find, so I finally put in a call to him. It just sort of happened, but it's kinda snowballed since then, eh? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:11, 16 February 2008 (EST)
                      • It's definitely snowballed in a good way and I've been very pleasantly surprised how interested people have been in performing interviews. I'm thrilled each time a cast/crew member comes here to update the article we have about them. That's one of the great benefits we have over site like Wikipedia for instance where there's an innate tendency for them to not include (or even delete) information that comes from the people themselves simply because it needs to be cited from another source before they'll accept it. The fact that these people can search for themselves on a search engine and find an article about themselves here I think is flattering to them and also gives them incentive to help tweak their article. Since we give them a lot of leeway in determining what information they want published here about themselves without citing some policy about total inclusion of public information I think it encourages them to come here to help provide the most accurate information. Interview poll thread

  • Check out Citizen's post on the interview thread on 9thwonders.com. :) (Admin 13:57, 16 February 2008 (EST))

Facebook

  • Any objection if I toss this image into the photo album on the Heroes Wiki Facebook page with the other action shot I have there? In fact, I have the other one with you, Jason Badower, and his friend wearing the t-shirt ready to upload, too. (Admin 23:43, 20 February 2008 (EST))
    • Completely unrelated, but who the heck are those three guys in that one picture? --Hero!(talk)(contribs)
      • Leftmost is me. The other two are coworkers of mine. Several of my coworkers have Heroes Wiki t-shirts despite not actually watching Heroes. :) They still like to show their support! (Admin 00:10, 21 February 2008 (EST))
    • No objection whatsoever. You can put both in there. Jason's friend's name is Simon "Simbo" Sarafian. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:14, 21 February 2008 (EST)
  • Ooh, I didn't know this existed. Totally joined up now though. --DocM 08:02, 21 February 2008 (EST)

Archiving

Pretty quick, I'm going to want to archive my talk page. Could you leave a package with instructions on how to do it here? thanks!--SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:47, 21 February 2008 (EST)

9thwonders.com

  • I didn't notice this before on 9thwonders.com because I usually skip past the into page and go right to the forum, but if you check out the Mod Blog at the bottom left they mention your interview with Joe Tolerico and in the full topic even link to your interview here. (Admin 06:50, 22 February 2008 (EST))

Recent photo afds

The recent photo afds come from graphic novels where I thought it was agreed okay to illustrate what happened in a location in images instead of adding them to their respective minor character articles, but recently you've removed those photos saying they no longer meet the purpose of displaying info. about said location. The Betty photos you just made afd I was originally going to use in a rumor/gossip theme article. And I think the Golden Handshake photo fits under the one-hit knockout theme. Please don't delete those photos yet.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:16, 23 February 2008 (EST)

  • I've only deleted duplicate images and former spoilers, I think. The "rumor" images don't illustrated Betty's high school and the GH images don't illustrate Paris hotel. I'm marking them for deletion because they're not really needed anywhere. If you find a spot for them, terrific. But I don't know of any location articles where we put images of events that happen in the location if the images don't illustrate the location. If there are such articles, the images should probably be removed. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:19, 23 February 2008 (EST)

Capitalization of "family"

I found this source from our US government that has a list of capitalization rules ( http://www.gpoaccess.gov/stylemanual/2000/chap03.pdf). In 3.2, the source refers to a "Macadam family" where the word "Macadam" is capitalized cause it's a proper name but "family" is not capitalized. This is a formal record of our US government. Is it wrong? (I'm referring to your correction of "Butler family" to "Butler Family" for Graphic Novel:Blindsided; it bugged me so I looked it up. ;))--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:24, 27 February 2008 (EST)

  • I'm glad you found that, I was having a hard time finding anything official. On all of our family disambig pages we've been capitalizing both the family name of course and the word "family" ("The Butler Family" as opposed to "The Butler family"). I was more trying to go with consistency and standardization than with any established rules since I couldn't find any. I really don't have a preference for one way over the other, except that we should just try to be consistent. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:14, 27 February 2008 (EST)
    • Cool, doing a search I didn't find many if any changes to make except for from the last novel and the family disambig pages, so I already made those changes.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:12, 27 February 2008 (EST)

Terminator

  • Enjoying the new Terminator series, eh? I registered terminatorwiki.com a while back (though haven't setup a wiki on it yet), so if it looks like something that would make a good wiki and you know of a bunch of people who are interested in working on it then let me know. (Admin 11:25, 27 February 2008 (EST))
    • I would be interested, not sure how much I could do though. Wikia does have one, it has a lot of information but is low quality. -Lөvөl 12:39, 27 February 2008 (EST)
      • Yeah, I like the flexibility of hosting wikis myself rather than having to do things Wikia's way. It's worked out well for Heroes Wiki. :) A wiki is a lot of work to maintain so it's going to have to be a show with a fanbase as enthusiastic as shows like Lost and Heroes in order to succeed. I watched the Terminator pilot, but didn't get into it. If it's on par with Bionic Woman then I don't know if it would be worth it since the enthusiasm really needs to be there for people to want to work on a wiki. That could be the reason why Wikia's isn't very developed... I'm hoping maybe Ryan or someone else has a finger on the pulse of the Terminator series fanbase. (Admin 13:12, 27 February 2008 (EST))
        • I'm not involved with the Terminator fans at all, I just really love the series. I had actually not seen the movies until this past weekend. I could go on and on about what intrigues me about the series. However, as far as starting a wiki for it, I'm not really a good judge of the merits of the show. I know I've looked up more things about the show on Wikia's Terminator site and on Wikipedia. All the time travel stuff can get confusing, and I like learning about the different models of terminators. However, I really don't know what the fan base is like. I know the show is getting rave reviews across the board, and the movies were very popular and successful. That, and Ah-nuld rocked his roles. But even if it's a good candidate for a wiki, which I can't really say objectively, I wouldn't be able to do it. I like to commit to one thing and do my best at it. Plus, I'm going to be very busy pretty soon with a new baby, directing a Boy Scout camp, and just having a busy life in general. Sorry... I would absolutely be willing to help in setting up a site, making templates, and making some contributions if a wiki were set up with high quality in mind. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:33, 27 February 2008 (EST)

Milo Ventimiglia Interview

I found a recent interview conducted with Milo Ventimiglia. He doesn't say much about Heroes, but I thought you might want to add it to "External Links" on the home page. Here is the link: http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6853 -Dan
