Tables of contents

Is there a way to specify the widths of the TOCs on pages? Also, is there a way to cause the TOC to be hidden (or "collapsed") by default? --Radicell 05:22, 1 November 2009 (EST)

  • Sort of. To specify the width of the TOC, you have to use a TOC template. Try adding 100px to make a super thin TOC. Making it wider than normal (like 700px) will only pad whitespace to the right of the TOC, not make the actual box wider. As for a TOC that is hidden as a default, we don't have anything like that here. However, take a look at Wikipedia's custom template for a hidden TOC. I'm not sure if we have the capabilities to recreate that here or not--we might, I just don't know. Hope that helps. Let me know if you'd like me to do a bit of further investigating for you. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:34, 1 November 2009 (EST)
    • One additional thing, which I think Radicell might have been alluding to re. hiding the TOC: You can suppress a TOC from appearing on a page by adding "__NOTOC__" (minus the quotes) on a line by itself on the page.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:09, 3 November 2009 (EST)

Lost Page

Hi Ryan, sorry if bother you but I ask you something. A few days ago, on this site I found a page on all pairs of agents of the company (ex. Noah-Elle, Noah-Meredith...) you may post them here the link to the page that I can not find more? Thanks, TanderixUTCR

About a week ago I asked you to delete some userpages I wasn't using before and I forgot to ask if you could delete the unused images from them as well. It was only when catalyst said to me that they were not properly sourced that I remembered they even existed, so could you delete them for me. Thanks. Just checking, is the image I uploaded in the correct size and category? also, would it be considered a spoiler to add the "episodes directed" section now? - Jenx222 | U / T / C 11:30, 1 November 2009 (EST)

  • Correct size, check. Correct category, check. (Good find on the image, by the way!) I don't consider the director of an episode to be a spoiler--we've already added that template to other directors (like Nate Goodman and Jim Chory) and writers (like Rob Fresco and Mark Verheiden). I think it's fine to add the template. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:43, 1 November 2009 (EST)

Sorry To Bother You...

But I didn't fully understand the help on adding images to an article. You see, I just want to add images to illustrate my user page, but is there any way to copy images from Heroes Wiki and use them? Thanks for the help.--Hiroman 12:38, 2 November 2009 (EST)

  • Plus, (and please forgive my technical ignorance), please could you tell me how to make an info box (Well, I think it's called an infobox- I'm talking abouth the large box on the right of character and user pages). Thanks again--Hiroman 13:08, 2 November 2009 (EST)

Just finished adding Heroes Interactive:Once Upon a Time in Texas, so you're up again next week if that's okay. P.S.: Don't forget to add Heroes Interactive:Strange Attractors (someone started the page as a stub but didn't put any of the transcript).--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:13, 3 November 2009 (EST)

Matt Jr Youngest?

Is matt jr still the youngest to have an ability. With the new Istory, is Draph or his twin brother, not the youngest to have an ability. Or does this not count because it is not from a cannon source? --mc_hammark 12:35, 4 November 2009 (EST)

  • Only the information from the iStory is considered canonical (or near-canonical, as the case may be). The information from Heroes: Survival is not canonical. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:59, 4 November 2009 (EST)

Draph

Hey, as you've noticed, people are raising issue with Phoenix Mimicry. It was not my intent to create something unreasonable and I just thought it was something fairly original. What is your opinion? I would be fine with changing my Survival story for simplicity and 'canoness' if you feel its best for everyone.

  • Personally, I like the ability (which is one reason I helped recommend Draph to be a crossover character)...but that's just my opinion, which really has nothing to do with whether we consider the ability to be part of the Heroes canon on this wiki or not. Nor does it matter what other people think. Fans always get up in arms about certain things, and there's not much that can be done about it. I think there was a lot of unnecessary rudeness on the ability's talk page, and for that people should be ashamed. But beyond that, Draph and phoenix mimicry were featured in an iStory, so they are from a canon (or rather, a near-canon) source, and should absolutely be included in the wiki, of course. As for the backstory that you wrote at Heroes: Survival, that's a secondary source, and not considered a canon (or near-canon) source. That information can be on the wiki, but it should remain in the notes section of Draph's page, and the notes section of the ability page. Only the information featured in the iStory itself belongs in the main body of the articles.

By the way, congratulations on being featured as the third crossover character of this iStory! I think Zach Wilson did a great job synthesizing the background information you wrote at Heroes: Survival. You should be proud! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:50, 5 November 2009 (EST)

    • Thank you, I was extremely pleased! I have noticed other people adding Survival info to other pages. I've been trying to take it down but it still gets put back up. So I was wondering if you could be a more authoritative matter on those issues, namely Ability Replication and Telekinesis. Also, for some of the character information, can that still go into the "about" section, as I have seen all other crossover characters do? (EDIT) plus, if you ever see something that should not be in any of the pages, please change it immediately, (as you prob would have done anyway) I just want Draph and his pages to be the most canon as possible for an istory character.
      • Will do, Draph. I've read the iStory, but I haven't gotten around to doing much editing this week--my wife and I have been in and out of the hospital with contractions. The baby should come any time now. I wouldn't be surprised if she's born this weekend! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:48, 5 November 2009 (EST)
        • Well, hot dog, congrats! I don't think it should be that much of a problem anymore, the changes have seemingly stopped re-emerging. Although, Draph is still under some heavy fire for being a mimic and having an unique ability. :( o well. haha. Congrats again! Draphoenix 22:47, 5 November 2009 (EST)
          • Thanks! Let me know if you need my help with anything. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:53, 5 November 2009 (EST)
            • Oh, about the "about" section, to what degree can HSG stuff go into there. I guess if you could quickly glance at Draph's page and let me know what I can do to make it better and canonical. I understand you are busy, but hopefully it shouldn't take too long.Draphoenix 23:20, 5 November 2009 (EST)
              • It looks good to me. But if others change it, that's fine too...-- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:32, 5 November 2009 (EST)

Layout Help

I'm updating my userpage and I need to create a floating box. If you have a minute could you give me a hand, I need to make the sidebar appear side by side with the title bars, User:Jenx222/Sandbox/Userpage I'd appreciate the help, thanks - Jenx222 | U / T / C 05:03, 5 November 2009 (EST)

  • On that page, you have the width set (twice) to be 100%. Take that out, because that's making the table you've created span the entire page. Not good. Instead, add in class="infobox", which will float the entire box on the right side of the page. I also suggest you take a look at other infoboxes (like template:character box or template:user infobox), and then copy the pertinent codes from those pages, and customize it so it fits what you want. If you're still having trouble, let me know. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:57, 5 November 2009 (EST)
    • Still having trouble, the first 100% width is for the page background and the second is for the title bar. My box is already using the infobox class but it still will not line up with the title bars, any thoughts?, if it's to complicated don't worry, I'll just change the design, lol - Jenx222 | U / T / C 08:39, 5 November 2009 (EST)

About my template

I wasn't trying to do something with spoilers, I was trying to create a template (rather unsuccessfully), that would allow for text to appear as black bars or "censored". I wanted the text to only be revealed by moving the cursor over it, like this: http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Template:C . I'm not sure how to do that, but I was trying to figure it out, which is why it currently doesn't do anything. If you could help out in any way, (again, I'm not doing anything with spoilers) it would be much appreciated. --Bender 22:22, 5 November 2009 (EST)

Consensus

Hey, about the consensus check on Trevor's ability. We do have enough information to make a decision as it stands, we've seen a clear example of what the ability does and we also have a description from the writers. It's very doubtful we will ever get to know more about it, but what we do know is, this is an ability and this is all it does (shatter glass), It's speculative to say it would have even worked on Sylar. I think this is justified grounds for a consensus check, what do you think? - Jenx222 | U / T / C 05:41, 6 November 2009 (EST)

  • There is no consensus for a name. I believe I left a comment on that talk page last night. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:15, 6 November 2009 (EST)
    • I think I may have worded my explanation incorrectly, I meant that there is enough information to run a consensus check, clearly as it stands there is no consensus but I'm sure in time a consensus can be reached. - Jenx222 | U / T / C 17:46, 6 November 2009 (EST)
      • I appreciate your enthusiasm and optimism, but time has only shown that our community is split on the name. The article's talk page itself serves as a consensus check. However, a formal consensus check was conducted when the ability first debuted a year ago (see here). It was painfully obvious that there was no consensus on a name back then. Here we are, a year later with absolutely no new information, and there is still no consensus. However, a formal consensus check was held in recent days (see here). It is still clear as day that the community does not agree on a name. I believe that this is because we have not found a name that is non-speculative. But whatever the reason, more than one consensus check has been conducted (when only one was needed), and both have concluded that there is no consensus. With no new information about the ability, another consensus check would be superfluous. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:37, 6 November 2009 (EST)
        • Can you tell me exactly how blasting is speculative? It's exactly what he did to the glass. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:40, 6 November 2009 (EST)
          • A blast is (or connotes) a strong gust or stream of wind or air. I don't know if that's how Trevor blew up those glasses. But regardless, that's really not the point of my post above. The point of the above post is that there is no consensus on a name, and no need for another consensus check. But speculative or not, it's just my own idea that the reason our community can't come to a consensus is because there is no non-speculative name, or at least our community perceives that there is no non-speculative name. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:45, 6 November 2009 (EST)
            • What we need is something that gives the idea of exploding. "Exploding", "bursting", and "blowing up" come to mind. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 19:53, 6 November 2009 (EST)

A Few Things...

Hey Ryan. God it's been ages since I've spoken to you - but hi. Sorry about not being on the wiki much lately, I've been busy with school, but it's starting to clear up now, so I'll be on a bit more. Firstly, you might want to watch Draphphoenix. He is the creator or Draph from the istory, and with the raging argument going on with Phoenix mimicry he seems to have tried to correct himself, but took it a bit to far, he deleted all the information from the page here. I'm not sure if I'm right to be correcting, but he deleted all the info and changed anything without any given consenus, so I'd thought I'd change it back. I don't think he needs to be blocked, but a just a heads up - he seems nice, but I'd be annoyed too if so many people were slamming my ability. On this subject, congrats on becoming a istory writer! Just wondering, how do you pick people from Heroes Survival to go into istory. Personally, I'm a fan of phoenix mimicry, but others, lets say not so much. Also, when you choose them from survival, do you make everything they say 'canon' - because I can see this getting confusing. Taking Draph into account for example, his twin died in the womb and he acquired without having an ability to mimic other abilities. I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear, but the whole thing is starting to confuse me now. Thanks --IronyUTC CH 15:22, 6 November 2009 (EST)

  • Hey, Irony. Thanks for the heads up about Draphoenix. He contacted me above about some of his concerns. People have been unnecessarily rude about his creation, which I just don't understand. Regardless, he shouldn't have blanked the page about the power, even if it was something he thought of originally. The power now belongs to the world of Heroes, not to any individual. I think you're right though, that in this case it's not an act of vandalism, but just a good guy who got frustrated with rude things people were saying about him.

I'm actually not an iStory writer, but I work very closely with Zach Wilson, who is the writer of the iStory. The rest of us help, support, approve, and collaborate with Zach. I am not the only one who chooses H:S characters to cross over, but I am one of the people. Personally, I look for characters who have cool powers and cool backstories. There's no science to it--when I see something that strikes me as cool, I note it. Zach has a few different criteria, as he's trying to look for a character that will fit in his story, as well as be a "cool" character.

As for the canonicity of H:S, I covered that information a bit covered here, but I'll certainly talk more about it, because I don't want anybody to be confused by the levels of what's "official" and what's not. :) The information created by fans is not canon. Only the stories told in the iStories, graphic novels, etc. is canon (or near-canon, as the case may be). With very few exceptions (like pictures and page titles), we only put the information from Heroes: Survival in the notes. It's the information Zach (and other writers) use as a basis to create the character in the canon or near-canon works. But all the "extra" information that wasn't actually included in the iStory should be kept in the notes. That also means that if a character from H:S is featured in the iStory, but he doesn't demonstrate a power, he should not be considered an evolved human. The information about his power should be kept in the notes.

    I hope that long-winded explanation helps! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:36, 6 November 2009 (EST)

    • But if only the stuff that appears in the istory is canon, does that not mean that his ability name is not cannon? --mc_hammark 15:49, 6 November 2009 (EST)

Character Appearances

How come Isaac is considered a Season 4 character. They just placed this clip in the episode, it was originally in Seven Minutes to Midnight. I think it would please a lot more fans and make more sense if we made the template at the bottem of the page a season 1 instead of a season 4. This would also apply to characters that were in the Hall or Mirrors in Tabula Rasa. Please condsider this. Homersimpson 19:46, 7 November 2009 (EST)

  • I think the difference is that even though it was old footage, Santiago Cabrera's name was in the credits. I could be wrong though. -- Tristan0709 talk 23:01, 7 November 2009 (EST)

It may be because his name was in the credits, however the names of the actresses who play Jackie, Sue Landers and Ted were not listed in the credits. I think we should stick to keeping them as season one characters or three in Sue's case. With Isaac, I say we should leave it as a season four minor foor now but consider correcting it to season one. Homersimpson 16:12, 8 November 2009 (EST)

  • I'm pretty sure Isaac's footage was actually new footage in Once Upon a Time in Texas. But even if it isn't, we still include archival footage as part of the show. We don't distinguish between archival footage and new footage. For our purposes at the wiki, it's all the same. So the hall of mirrors scene included several characters that had not yet been seen in Season Four, and they are now all Season Four characters. (The only exception to this is montages of scenes that have not yet happened yet, like at the beginning of Orientation.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:20, 8 November 2009 (EST)

It isn't new footage, I recently watched Seven Minutes Till Midnight.Homersimpson 16:22, 8 November 2009 (EST)

Tom's ability consensus

Hey Ryan. There has been talk, without any objections to renaming Tom's ability to Disintegration. I know you have said on the Trevor's ability consensus that we have little info about the ability, and the community has not been able to come to a consensus. What would be your input on this consensus?--Catalyst · Talk · HL 21:27, 7 November 2009 (EST)

  • I gave my input back when the ability was originally shown on Heroes. I like "collapsing" or "crumbling". I also think "disintegration" is good. I don't have a preference for one over the other. So long as the community agrees on a name, we're solid. On another note, one of the reasons I'm so opposed to a name for Trevor's ability has less to do with not knowing enough about the power (though that's certainly true), and much more to do with the writers' comment. I try to always take my cue from the writers and creative staff. When the writers were asked what the name of Trevor's ability was, their answer was a sarcastic way of basically saying that there is no name for the power. Until we learn more about it, I think "Trevor's ability" is what we should call it. For Tom's ability, though, as long as it describes what we've seen Tom do (crumbling, collapsing, disintegration, etc.), I'm fine with it. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:27, 8 November 2009 (EST)
    • Ryan, can you sort this out? Instead of moving the article, someone copied and pasted the info to "disintegration", which was a redirect to Felicia's ability. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 19:05, 8 November 2009 (EST)
  • Sorry, I think that was me. I thought that a consensus had been reached and I didn't relize the redirect. --Boom D  9,758  19:08, 8 November 2009 (EST)
    • No worries. A consensus had been reached. When the target page already exists (as "disintegration" already existed on the wiki), then it has to be moved by an admin because only administrators can delete the already existing page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:19, 8 November 2009 (EST)

Hey Ryan,

Did you notice what I wrote in the talk page of Phoenix mimicry and of Draphoenix. I'm really sad that Draphoenix went and changed his power's name in his HS page. Probably, he hasn't been around and didn't see much of what I wrote about/to him, (I really meant what I wrote) or he's really too offended. Could you communicate in any way with him, to say that there are actually people supporting him and his name of the power and to tell him that may be it's better if he changes back the name in the HS page (you would know better the latter part).

Does it become official now when he changes the name to pyrokinesis. Then do we have to delete the Phoenix mimicry page?!! I hope not. By the way, could you take a look to what I wrote to the talk page of memory restoration. What do you think? --Janrodrigo 09:11, 10 November 2009 (EST)

  • I've talked with Draphoenix quite a bit...I agree, it's too bad that he's changed the name of the ability, I suppose either out of pressure from what he perceived from the community, or from the desire to just forget about having a power that some people didn't like. But what's even sadder is that our community decided to rail upon the ability and character (and in turn, the creator of both) so much. I don't understand why people who don't like something can't just keep it to themselves. I guess some people just have diarrhea of the mouth. Oh well. But no, any changes to Draph's H:S page are not canon. Part of the reason Zach Wilson and I chose his character was because we liked the phoenix mimicry power. We thought it was different, cool, and would be a fun one to write about. We didn't choose a character that had pyrokinesis, we chose a character that could mimic phoenixes. That's the ability that was shown in the iStory, no matter what changes were made to the character's H:S profile.

On another note, Jan, thanks for being such a helpful citizen of the Heroes community and a strong team player. Your supportive comments throughout the wiki (and particularly on the phonenix mimicry talk page) are much appreciated by me, and I'm sure by others. Extra Bits

I just found this video series under the category Extra Bits at the official website. In case you haven't seen them, they feature Chandra Suresh during the 1961 era studying a pregnant woman, whose child's identity becomes pretty evident once you watch all the clips. Should there be a page for this series?--Citizen 09:20, 11 November 2009 (EST)

Proposal to name ambiguous abilities

Before I am told that it has been discussed at length before, I want to propose that we take any ability named on this wiki by possessor's name and try to find an appropriate terminology for it, obviously based on what we know about the ability itself. If it were ever to expand on the show (it doesn't look like the majority of them will, to be honest), we could always just modify it as everyone sees fit. These are:

Just a mere three that don't have a proper name. Do you think we should go forward with this? It would certainly make the abilities portal look more complete.--Citizen 13:46, 11 November 2009 (EST)

    • These abilities have been discussed at lengths, have a look at their talk pages. Trevor's ability is on its way, don't worry. There's a group of us that are slowly pushing for names to be chosen. Notice how there's no longer Tom's ability, Damien's ability or Teddy's ability. We're getting there but hopefully the ones you mentioned above will be changed soon. Oh, and Ryan's wife is in labour as far as I know so he may not be on for a while. --mc_hammark 13:52, 11 November 2009 (EST)
      • Mc, the difference between Citizen's three and your three, is that people were able to agree on your three. Nobody can agree on Citizen's. Which is why they don't have names already after 1-2 years. I don't think its a bad idea.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 13:55, 11 November 2009 (EST)
        • No, i know that, all I'm saying is that recently, there's been a group of us pushing for name changes for these abilities, so will most probably get them changed at some point in the near future. --mc_hammark 13:57, 11 November 2009 (EST)
          • But it is still not likely. Citizen's three have been discussed for a couple years. Your three are more recent. If we haven't gotten names for the first three in about two years (now i'm not saying it's impossible), it's not likely we are going to be getting names for them.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 14:15, 11 November 2009 (EST)
            • I see what you're saying, but I think it's a positive thing that they're still being discussed and haven't been named after two years. It gives us an incentive to actually give them names. Back then, it was all about "Let's wait until season three or a flashback episode to see if the ability is defined more". Alejandro's ability is clearly not going to make another appearance, so would we rather evaluate all it is capable of and give it a name or just leave it like that forever? What this needs is organization and a special page where we can discuss these kind of things for all abilities that fall under this category. I'd feel much obliged to create a subpage for this if its necessary.--Citizen 14:32, 11 November 2009 (EST)
              • Catalyst is right--the difference between the two lists of powers is that our community agreed on names for one list, but not for the other. Additionally, I haven't seen a good name for Alejandro's ability, and there has been absolutely no new information about the power in a long time. I have my own thoughts on Mohinder's ability, and I have seen quite a few good names, but our community has not agreed on one. And with Trevor's ability, I take my cue from the writers--they were asked what the name was, and they gave an answer that was a sarcastic way of saying that there is no name for the ability, and I agree with them.

There is nothing wrong with having an ability named after a person. It's not ideal, but it's not wrong. And since the question was asked, I'm not a fan of changing the names of abilities when there's no new information about them--especially when the reason is that other similarly named abilities have been changed.

On the baby front, my wife and I have been in and out of the hospital, but no baby yet. Just lots (and lots!) of early labor... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:55, 11 November 2009 (EST)

  • I don't really have an opinion either way with ability naming, but, just as an example - if you just came onto the wiki for the first time, you wouldn't nessecarily remember the name Trezor Zetilan, so mabye on the abilities portal should either have a small description of each ability or for the so and so's ability there should be a footnote describing the ability. --IronyUTC CH 14:13, 14 November 2009 (EST)

René the Haitian

Hey Ryan - I noticed that on the Haitian's page, his name was changed to René for all 4 seasons. However, in the case of Mr.Bennet, his name was kept as "Mr.Bennet" in the summary of season 1. Therefore, I think that the Haitian should be referred to as "The Haitian" for at least seasons 1-3, if not those and the episodes before "Shadowboxing". It ruins the mystery for anyone who is watching Heroes and has not caught up to Volume 5. Thanks --Dan 22:39, 11 November 2009 (EST)

  • Completely agree. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:55, 11 November 2009 (EST)
    • I'm not sure how to go about doing that without messing up links and such. Could you or someone else that is more skilled at Wikipedia than I take care of this? Lol. - --Dan 14:12, 12 November 2009 (EST)
      • I don't have time today...but you won't mess up any links, so long as the link is to Haitian or the Haitian, since those links redirect to René's page. Basically, you'll just want to go through and change when it says "René" to "Haitian" or "the Haitian"...if it's a reference to the character before this week's episode. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:44, 12 November 2009 (EST)

Checklists

I know I always ask about these! But I have some questions. The webisodes, (Slow Burn, Part 7 in particular) are there any new interviews/videos that need to be added? Or can they be checked off? Also, how would you update the guest cast portal? And how would you check off the individual name? Also, what time frame are we looking at in these? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 21:15, 12 November 2009 (EST)

  • I don't know of any videos or interviews related to Slow Burn, Part 7, other than the link to the webisode itself. The guest cast portal doesn't need to be updated because the only new characters who appeared have already appeared in the episodes. I don't know what you mean by checking off the individual name or the time frame. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:19, 12 November 2009 (EST)
    • I mean like under the "Update Guest Portal" column thing, you list the actors/actresses and there is a line to the side, where you check them off. Is there anything that needs to be done for them? And for the timeline, when would this time frame be? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 21:33, 12 November 2009 (EST)
      • Nothing needs to be done under "Update Guest Portal". This webisode takes place while Samuel is off with Claire. However, it's difficult to say what year--there is evidence that points to 2007, 2008, and 2009 (see here). I would just check off that it's done, since we really can't put the information under a particular time. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:40, 12 November 2009 (EST)
        • But it isn't done. We can wait and put it on there later. ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 21:46, 12 November 2009 (EST)
          • That's fine...but the reason it isn't done is because it can't be done (and shouldn't be done). See Talk:Timeline:Post-March 2007#200when?. If we state that events in Season Four take place in a certain time, we automatically negate canon information, since the canon information negates itself. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:52, 12 November 2009 (EST)

Admin (disambig) page?

Hey Ryan, I was just looking through the wiki, and I suddenly wondered whether there was a disambiguation page for "Admin". I would make it (if there was going to be one) and it would list the current Administrators, and maybe former admins. -- Leckie -- Talk 15:59, 16 November 2009 (EST)

    • Right. There Heroes Wiki:Administrators. Also a list of all administrators is available on almost every user talk page from the help box. But ultimately, the main namespace pages should be solely for the Heroes world, not for Heroes Wiki. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:39, 16 November 2009 (EST)

Discussion Pages

Catalyst and I have been having a lively discussion/debate about discussion pages being filled with speculation. On the Help:Style page Speculation is defined as Theories, Fan Creations & Spoilers. Catalyst seemed to think that spoilers are not speculation but the Help page disagrees and is pretty clear. Can you help me to clear this up? Thanks. Empath1974 03:52, 17 November 2009 (PDT)

  • Do you have a link to some of the discussions in question? It would help to see the speculation in question. However, speculation is certainly allowed on talk pages. Spoilers are not allowed on talk pages, unless the talk page is a spoiler talk page. That includes theory pages--spoilers don't belong on theory talk pages, either. However, speculation can go anywhere, so long as it doesn't include spoilers. So speculation is fine anywhere. Remember, spoilers are only one part of speculation. All spoilers are speculation, but not all speculation is a spoiler. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:18, 17 November 2009 (EST)

Sorry to bother you about my userpage again, but on my Least Favourite Powers section, numbers 1 and 10 won't show up. I was just wondering if (when you have a spare bit of time, of course) you could check it out and see if I have done something wrong on it. Peter's picture

Can I understand why no one talk about it and it just decided we do it your way ? Why don't we vote if people prefer an outdated picture or a recent one which matches the actual character... ? O_o--Kleith 00:42, 20 November 2009 (EST)

  • We're using an image that you uploaded on October 5. Who says we're doing it my way any more than we're doing it your way. Personally, I don't see anything outdated about the picture that's up at the moment, and I think it's important for the pictures in Portal:Main Characters/Season Four to look similar, if possible. I also don't think it's a good idea to use a picture that is over exposed on one side, and very dark on the other side. It's also nice to have the character looking at you, if possible. However, if you would like to open a dialogue about the image, feel free. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:48, 20 November 2009 (EST)
    • The image from October 5 is from the same photoshoot and still has short hair. It's not "my" way, it's just that this picture was released just very recently so I figured some people could have missed it, and since Peter's hair in the beginning of the season weren't as long as they are now, it seemed much better. Same photoshoot so I don't see where there could be a problem by updating it with a one that looks like more Peter, it wasn't especially "my way"... I used a "shades of gray" background on the first Peter so, definitely it looked liked the other ones. Thought I understand your concern about the character looking at you. But then you have to understand, since no photoshoot exist for the new season, that weither we use a "released recently" season 1 photoshoot, or a season 5 / volume 4 stills to make it a potrait, the exposure will never match 100% the other ones since we don't have the same artificial lights ! If the picture has the same background, looks at you, and is older than S1, While not being too dark or bright on one side compared to the other, I think it's already a progress. It's not our fault if they didn't make any photoshoot this season. That doesn't mean a character must have a look he doesn't have anymore. Milo has a face that changes a lot weither his hair is long or not.--Kleith 07:54, 20 November 2009 (EST)
      • So I made a new one, what do you think ? Feel free to give all the advices possible in order to do something that matches your wants, and still allow to change the short hair (outdated then :p ) picture. ;)--Kleith 09:18, 20 November 2009 (EST)
        • Since you're asking my personal opinion, I don't mind this photo...but I prefer this photo since it's cleaner. But I'm fine with either one, personally. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:10, 20 November 2009 (EST)

currecly i'm using photoshop cs3, i know that it's kinda strange to use photoshop if i just want to change the size of a image but when i use microsoft office picture manager and resize it, it's never the good size(for instance when i want 200x250 it becomes 199x250). You got an better program for me?--Yoshi n1 - Talk - Contributions 17:02, 20 November 2009 (EST)

  • I'm a huge fan of Gimp. It's alternately as simple and as complex as you'd like it to be. I've run into the same problems with Microsoft--yeah, you have to make it 201, which sucks. I'm not familiar with photoshop cs3, but basically if you want to change the size of an image, make sure you change the height and width by the same percentage. Either that, or there should be an option to "keep aspect" or "maintain aspect" or something like that. But again, I suggest using Gimp.

As for your signature, you'll need to create a second page (something like "User:Youshi n1/autosig") which simply says

    • Actually, I believe you have to type in the nickname spot, and then click the raw signature box. Let me know if it's working for you, Jan, or if you still need a hand. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:03, 25 November 2009 (EST)
      • Thank you very much, both of you :) Actually you're both right. When I tried and saved it, it automatically turned to . :) Now, I think it's working. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 09:08, 25 November 2009 (EST)
        • Good, I'm glad. It looks like you've got it--your signature is turning out the way it should. Well done! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:10, 25 November 2009 (EST)

A Few Problems

On the episode appearance page, the BK template won't show up for me. Why is that? Also, I've noticed that on the Template for the characters in Season Four, the minor character link goes to the Season Three ones. I've tried to fix this, but I couldn't. I just thtought I'd point that out to you! ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 20:25, 20 November 2009 (EST)

  • Funny, I'm working on that as we speak. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:28, 20 November 2009 (EST)
    • I saw the new thing, but I don't think that produces the same effect. And why is the GN appearances working if it has more? Also, what if you made one Template for each of the first 4 volumes and put the templates for each episode on that and then put the big one on the appearance page? Would that work? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 20:44, 20 November 2009 (EST)
      • I just split the page. It's such a long page that it's probably the best idea, rather than making templates on top of templates. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:48, 20 November 2009 (EST)

Gimp

Hi Ryan, just wanted to say thank you for Gimp. It's an great program and it got some nice filters to use :)-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 11:19, 21 November 2009 (EST)

  • Good, I'm glad you like it. It was Hardvice who originally turned me on to it. I'm continually discovering new functions. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:44, 21 November 2009 (EST)
    • By the way, to keep the aspect ratio when resizing pictures, you can either hold down CTRL, click the "Keep aspect" box, or click the little symbol that looks like a broken chain to make it a whole chain. If you have any questions about the program, let me know. I'm glad to help out however I can. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:45, 21 November 2009 (EST)

Test

Hi Ryan, this is just a test. Is this a good image with the right aspect ratio?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:21, 21 November 2009 (EST)

  • The one that Kleith uploaded has the correct aspect ratio. The last two that you uploaded are squished. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:58, 21 November 2009 (EST)

Is this image good? Btw i really appreciate it that you are helping me with all of this.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 18:46, 21 November 2009 (EST)

  • No problem...but no, that image is too squished. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:53, 21 November 2009 (EST)
    • Dont really get it then because i exactly did what what you sad.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 19:24, 21 November 2009 (EST)
      • I reuploaded the image with the correct aspect ratio. Compare your image to my image...and then compare your image to the original image. Do you see how your image is a bit squished? The left side was properly shrunk, but you're trying to fit in too much of the bottom of the image, so you're squishing the image too much. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:52, 21 November 2009 (EST)
        • I just.. dont get it. I'm did acataully what you sad but it doesn't seem to work, you seem to sort of cut in the image and i dont.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 20:01, 21 November 2009 (EST)
          • I cut in it and then did what you sad. is thisone good -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 20:10, 21 November 2009 (EST)
            • Much better! But I can tell that you're still doing it manually, and trying to get it really close, rather than actually having the program maintain aspect ratio for you. (Toggle back and forth between the latest image you uploaded and the one the I uploaded and see the slight difference.) Tell me exactly what steps you take to change the size of the image, and I'll see if I can tell you either where you're going wrong or what you can do to fix it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:16, 21 November 2009 (EST)
              • Ok here i go 1:i put the image in gimp 2: SHIFT-T (i get the scale thing) 3:i click on the chain 4:i put the number i want 5:I save it as an JPG. -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 20:20, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                • Good! Okay, make sure that the image you are putting in Gimp is the original image and not an image you've already edited. But most importantly, make sure that when you click the chain that you're closing the chain, and not opening the chain. Other than that, it should all work out. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:29, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                  • Ok, do i need to cut in it or something or is this the only thing i need to do?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 20:31, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                    • I don't know what you mena by "cut in it". But you will go to the original image from the web, copy it (CTRL + C), and then go to the blank image screen in Gimp (which should be 200x250). Then paste the image (CTRL + V) and change the size as you described above. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:51, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                      • I'm almost there, but if i do resize it i auto becomes 166x250. what now?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 20:59, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                        • Excellent--you're on the right track! Okay, now since 166x250 won't fit, change the width to 200 instead. Then the height will something like 300 or 301, which is too long...When you save the image, you will cut off the bottom of the image, but you will also be maintaining the aspect ratio. It's better to crop than to squish. Let me know how it comes out. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:01, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                          • Sorry cant do it right now because i'm going to sleep, let you know tomorrow (it's 2:00 here lol) -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 21:02, 21 November 2009 (EST)
                            • I think that.. i got it! how about this one? -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 07:09, 22 November 2009 (EST)
                              • Yep, looks like you got it! If, in the future, you're unsure of whether you're still getting the aspect ratio or not, feel free to drop me a note and have me look at the image in question. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:21, 22 November 2009 (EST)

Vignettes

You may have seen/heard of my fan story, Gulp-Ninja Series. Well, I have a graphc novel type spinoff, called vignettes. But I can't find a way that I like them to fit on one page. See here and I have the first one done, but for the code I have:

And I plan on adding more, to make it go like this:

But when I try to add the fifth in a new row, I can't seem to get it such that there is almost another whole row in between the rows. Does this make since, if so, can you help me please? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 12:26, 22 November 2009 (EST)

  • Do you mean you're having trouble adding a fifth column? I added a fifth column here. It's showing up just fine on my computer...If it's not showing up on your computer, then it might be a browser issue, which we can work around. Otherwise, I'll need to see an example of the issues you're having, rather than just a description of it. So go ahead and actually edit the page the way you'd like it to be, or the way you think it should be, and then let me have a look at it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:31, 22 November 2009 (EST)
  • I'm sorry that I can't explain things that well. I mean the next row. Like this:

1. Title
Quote
(Character)

But when I go to make the next column, it turns out like this:

1. Title
Quote
(Character)
5. Title
blah blah blah, but I want some space in between the first row and the second row. I realize that I can do it like I just showed you and leave spaces in between, but I can't do it to where 4 fit on one row. Sorry.... Do you understand? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 16:27, 23 November 2009 (EST)

  • Gotcha. Okay, I've given you three good possibilities. Multiple tables (which is my preference), extra rows inside a table (which can be done even easier if you put &nbsp; in each blank row) or adding a border (which certainly makes things look a little neater). Of course, another choice, which is probably the best, but would also take the most amount of time, is to make a traditional portal, though it would require you to have an image in each cell to represent each link....I hope that helps. If you need some more ideas or get stuck with something, feel free to ask. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:59, 23 November 2009 (EST)

Clever Template, how?

Hey Ryan, I was just looking at the page for the list and I'd like to know how the template for the list map, so you can click on a name and it takes you to their page, was created. Can you help me please, as I wouldn't mind making one for Cockney Heroes -- Leckie -- Talk 13:50, 22 November 2009 (EST)

  • It's a pretty straightforward template, which you can view here. It uses a secondary template and an image, which you're free to use. It also requires that you have an image of the list, which was created using a basic word processor program. So there's a bit of background work that needs to be done, but after your basic image of the list is created, the rest is just copying and modifying the existing template. I won't have time to create it for you, but if you have any questions while you're making it, feel free to ask. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:38, 22 November 2009 (EST)
    • Thanks, the way it was created sounds pretty complicated, but I'm sure I'll be able to :) --Leckie -- Talk 17:42, 22 November 2009 (EST)
      • It'll be a good learning lesson, then! The most complicated thing for you is to create an image of the list itself. After that, you'll basically copy and paste the template into a new template, and update it according to the names on your list. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:45, 22 November 2009 (EST)

My new page

Hey Ryan, lots of questions I know, I've made a new page here, can you check it out, and give me some feedback please, either on my talk page or the page's talk page please, thanks -- Leckie -- Talk 16:31, 22 November 2009 (EST)

  • I'll check out the page and leave a message on the page's talk page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:39, 22 November 2009 (EST)
    • And another one :). Can you check this one out as well please? --Leckie -- Talk 14:56, 23 November 2009 (EST)
      • Hey Ryan, I've made Another page (I'm on a roll :)) Can you check it out for me? Here's the link--Leckie -- Talk 12:26, 26 November 2009 (EST)
        • Looks great! The lead sentence needs some bold, and "slaughterhouse" shouldn't be capitalized. But other than that, it looks terrific. I'm going to move the page since it's a legitimate concept. Nice job! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:47, 26 November 2009 (EST)
  • I have one as well See here! I know it needs a lot of work because I can't tell which trailer some are at, but these are the ones I know for sure of. What do you think? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 20:50, 26 November 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah, that's always my issue with the carnival trailers, is I can't distinguish one from another. There's gotta be a better image. Plus, you're missing a lot of information from the iStory content, and possibly from the webisodes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:25, 26 November 2009 (EST)
      • Well considering I can't read the iStories (except today because I am at my friend's house), I don't know the information from them because I am still on Friend or Foe...But I think all of the other webisode trailers are Lydia's... ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 21:34, 26 November 2009 (EST)

I'll grab it tonight too as a backup. Just in case the stork comes. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:16, 23 November 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks. I should actually be good tonight. In fact, I've even planned to transcribe the danged thing right away (for once)! Incidentally, we spend the entire day in the hospital yesterday...but to no avail. Waiting for a child who is causing labor but no progress is Frustrating with a capital F. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:30, 23 November 2009 (EST)

"Killed by"

So, I added a section to the discussion page for the Character box template, to discuss the possibility of adding a "Killed by" section to it (due to the substantial increase in characters getting offed in recent seasons). I was hoping you could weigh in (hopefully getting the ball rolling on discussion and such). --Ricard Desi (t,c) 11:19, 24 November 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks for the heads up. It's not a bad idea, but I'm afraid it'll be more trouble than it's worth. I'm not against it, but I'm definitely not for it. Anyway, I left my thoughts on the discussion page. Thanks, RD. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:59, 24 November 2009 (EST)

Beowulf

Are you still in contact with Lestat's trainer? I think the trainer may want to add more info. on Beowulf. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:45, 24 November 2009 (EST)

  • I sent her an email this morning, but I haven't heard back from her yet. Are we sure it's Beowulf who portrayed Doug's dog? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:00, 24 November 2009 (EST)

little technical question

Hi Ryan, Just a little question.. How do you do so that a template (for example ) appears everytime a page (for example a user discussion page) is created. Thanks --Janrodrigo 04:10, 25 November 2009 (EST)

  • That's kind of a tricky template, simply because it uses MediaWiki:newarticletext, which is locked to non-administrators. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:07, 25 November 2009 (EST)
    • The thing is I'm an admin in the Ladino Wikipedia and there, we are really few people. I've created a template there and I wanted to know how to add that on the top of the new user discussion pages. I also have the rights of translator in that language in Betawiki. I hope, I'm not being too much on you with this. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 09:30, 25 November 2009 (EST)
      • Ah, okay, I see. I thought you might be asking because you wanted to make your own custom template that would pop up for certain pages. Anyway, you'll simply want to go to MediaWiki:newarticletext (which may also be called "MediaWiki:newarticletextanon"). I think the simplified code we use here on this wiki is . I hope that helps. If it's not working, let me know--and send me a link. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:19, 25 November 2009 (EST)
        • No, unfortunately, it didn't work. Here is the link. Thanks a lot Ryan, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 16:20, 25 November 2009 (EST)
          • I'm not sure. Maybe because it's in a different there's something that needs to change. Like, maybe the user talk pages aren't called "User talk"? Or maybe there are certain functions that aren't enabled on that wiki. I don't know, I'm not sure, to be honest. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:06, 25 November 2009 (EST)
            • Thank you, anyway, I'll try changing the names and best I think, I could ask the eldest admin over there :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:22, 26 November 2009 (EST)

Also, if possible, could you give me a hand with this template. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 16:45, 25 November 2009 (EST)

  • Sure. What exactly do you need me to do? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:06, 25 November 2009 (EST)
    • I want, like Volume 1, to be a block and not to be a separate line every week, some goes for Pod One for example. I hope I'm not asking too much on you these days - especially I wouldn't want to take your time if you're busy :) -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 02:22, 26 November 2009 (EST)
      • You could make Volume One auto-collapsible and going horizontal. And then the Pods horizontal and auto-collapsible inside Volume One. The the weeks vertical inside thee pods. Just a suggestion! For an excelent example of what I'm talking about, see the Cockney Heroestemplate at the bottom of every page. The big header can close all of them, then they have sections inside it, and then even more sections inside those. ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 09:48, 26 November 2009 (EST)
        • I was thinking something very similar. And that's an excellent idea. But I don't think I would be able to do that! :( May be you or Ryan could give a hand on doing as you told. :) Thanks by the way IHH. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 11:16, 26 November 2009 (EST)
          • Well you could look at their template and see the code? ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 11:30, 26 November 2009 (EST)
            • Yes but deciphering that code and prepraing a similar one for the template, probably would take at least 2-3 hours for me. While some can do it in 15 minutes may be. Actually I asked the question to Ryan because I couldn't find a page from where I could copy one, but luckily you showed me one. So, if one of you find the time to do that for me I would be delighted (very happy lol), because I don't have so much time to give to there. I've to write my master thesis (dead time: Jan 20, 2010). I (almost) only do here what I'd planned, you know, like a long while ago. But if you don't either have time, never mind it, I'll do it myself later on. -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 11:44, 26 November 2009 (EST)
              • I might be able to do it tomorrow, but not today... ~~IHH--Talk The Gulp-Ninja Series 12:14, 26 November 2009 (EST)
                • It's not something of urgency, you may do it whenever you like - I'm going to advance slowly anyway on that, one week, each week. And I hope you didn't feel pressurised, because I didn't mean it at all. Friendly, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 12:26, 26 November 2009 (EST)
                  • Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time either right now. But I've always found that one of the best ways to get really proficient at creating template code is simply to practice, practice, practice! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:18, 26 November 2009 (EST)
                    • I did what you asked (inside noinclude tags) and added a comment to the talk page. But Ryan, I think I might need your help. Inside the Season sections, where there are the Pod sections, I can't seem to make them collapse, or auto collapse even. Also, the top header I can't make close all of the Seasons and Pre-premire section inside of it.

Once upon a time in texas referance

Can I ask why you removed the reference of 108 from the page? --mc_hammark 11:39, 25 November 2009 (EST)

  • It sounded speculative. Is that a confirmed reference? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:44, 25 November 2009 (EST)
    • I think we all assumed it was a throwback, like we've had before. It seems very unlikely to be a coincidence. What are the chances that 108 would be chosen, that that is the format of the representation of the episode number, that the episode that number pertains to is in fact mixed with the one it appears in, and that no-one on the heroes crew at all would have noticed it. It must be deliberate. --mc_hammark 12:49, 25 November 2009 (EST)
      • I immediately thought of Lost, as did others. Somebody else thought it was a reference to the number 9. See here. I'm not saying it's not a reference to another episode...I'm just saying it's not confirmed. And since there are lots of other possible meanings to the number (including the fact that sometimes a number is just a number), I'll see if I can get some clarification from my boys. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:03, 25 November 2009 (EST)
        • And by boys I'm assuming you mean friends at Heroes or NBC, not you kids. Speaking of which, how's the missus? --mc_hammark 13:04, 25 November 2009 (EST)
          • Yes, those boys. I have the same problem when I'm referring to my students and I say "my kids". My wife always gets on me for that one! By the way, she's hanging in there. Still having tons of contractions, but no progress, so she basically just has to suffer through. She'll hit full term next week, so we might be able to go in for a C-section by the end of the week. Fingers crossed! Thanks for asking. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:17, 25 November 2009 (EST)

Vandalism

Hi Ryan, just saw that some guys vandalized your userpage, why did they do that? (I mean, so many people, there must be a reason why they did it. BTW I DONT THINK SOMEONE SHOULD DO THAT WHATEVER REASON THEY GOT.)-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 15:00, 25 November 2009 (EST)

  • The person who changed my kids' pictures probably did it because he got pissed that I've blocked him so many times. It's the act of weak-minded people. Oh well, no skin off my back. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:05, 25 November 2009 (EST)

Auto Update Archives

Hey Ryan, is there a template that makes archives (for talk pages) update themselves as soon as a new archive is created?

Archives Archived Topics
February - June 09
Mid June - Mid Sept 09

I have this on my User talk, and every time I make a new archive I have to update it. I was just wondering if there was a template that updates it automatically? --Leckie -- Talk 13:26, 26 November 2009 (EST)

  • Template:ArchiveLinks does a pretty great job of making things update automatically. I don't know of any other templates that make it even more automatic. You might want to check with MiamiVolts since he created the ArchiveLinks template. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:34, 26 November 2009 (EST)
    • Unfortunately, there's currently no way to further automate it cause of template limits. In fact, you should probably use Template:ArchivePrelinks to generate the wiki code in pre format, copy that code into your own subpage and call that subpage on your talk page (see User talk:MiamiVolts/Top to see how I've done it). Otherwise, as the number of archives grows, you will eventually run into the problem where Template:ArchiveLinks ticks out and the other templates on your talk page stop working.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:56, 27 November 2009 (EST)

Irksome favor

I'm not very comfortable with asking this, particularly because I know you're not very fond of theory sections. There is a theory on Sylar's theory page which argues that his original ability is empathic mimicry. I believe that considering points already present there, the theory has been disproved, but an user insists on keeping it based on arguments which I believe to be wishful thinking at best, and consist on ill-interpretation of already established facts. Neither of us is likely to back down. I see the theory as disproved, he sees the theory as correct. Considering the point we've reached, we will likely keep using the same arguments at each other ad infinitum, so a new perspective might break our cyclical discussion, and since you're the most diplomatic person in this wiki, I feel that your articulation might help us set this at last. It's the behemoth theory, the second to last in the page. Some older discussions are also present at the talk page, bottom two topics. • Thanks for letting me know. There is really very little arbitration and diplomacy needed in this case. It has been stated by writers more than once that Sylar and Peter have different powers. We have canon confirmation of Sylar's power. The theory should be removed as being disproved. (The discussion on the theory page (as opposed to the talk page) should also be removed.) I'll take care of removing it and leaving messages for the other user and on the talk page. I don't follow the theory pages very closely, so if it crops up again, let me know, and I'll take administrative action as necessary. Thanks, IE. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:39, 28 November 2009 (EST)

IDoWhatMustBeStopped

So, I'm not sure how aware you are of the issues with IDoWhatMustBeDone, but he appears to be taking it upon himself to blow through and edit anything he sees fit that the community has been debating (Gordon's ability being the first of apparently many more to come). Can you weigh in? He's not really listening to any of us. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 14:50, 29 November 2009 (EST)

  • As much as I agree with Ricard, I'd wait a day before saying anything to him. He has said that he'll be back tomorrow to edit some more, and if he does still use Wikipedia rules on here, then I'd have a word with him, but not just yet. --mc_hammark 14:53, 29 November 2009 (EST)
    • He is good intentioned, but his methods are less than admirable. The best way I can describe him is by TvTropes entry for "Well Intentioned Extremist". Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:07, 29 November 2009 (EST)
      • I'm ready to do a short-term ban based on his rude and demeaning attitude alone...but I'm coming into the situation a bit late. It looks like Radicell gave him a warning and he hasn't been back. If he makes any more rash moves or is rude at all, let me know and I'll put a block on him. Thanks. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:39, 1 December 2009 (EST)
