The curandera's daughter stands near the doorway to the room where Maya Herrera rest at Nidia's house. She watches as the curandera tries to diagnose Maya, and watches her mother's disturbing pronouncement regarding Maya's "blackness". In the ensuing ruckus, the curandera warns Maya to stay away from her daughter.
