Company agents Thompson, Jr. and Donna Dunlap are accompanied by a support team on a mission to bag and tag Lewis, believing him to be dangerous. They find high levels of plant growth in the area, and Thompson Jr. suspects it is Lewis. He also remarks that the Company has captured Lewis before, and his father suspected Lewis's ability might mutate. Thompson Jr. orders the support team to safeguard the agents' extraction point, as the two go after Lewis.
Later, the support team rush to investigate an explosion. They find Thompson Jr. and Donna on the floor motionless, and their target, Lewis, raging.
The team opens fire at Lewis, but Lewis attacks them with roots emerging from the ground. Lewis soon kills three members of the team. Sean Fallon blows up an oil drum behind Lewis and shoots at him. Lewis is rendered defenseless by his wounds and begs Sean not to bring him back to the laboratory again. Sean shoots him repeatedly, to be sure he is dead, only saving one bullet.
Lewis is imprisoned in one of the Company's Level 5 holding cells, and kept in stasis by a combination of herbicide and ultraviolet light. Lewis and Paulette Hawkins are later taken to Guyana by the Kill Squad to cover up a large crater created by the manifestation of another evolved human's ability. Paulette uses her ability on Lewis, causing his ability to go out of control. Lewis is completely transformed, becoming part of a forest that covers the crater.
The case file also includes a psychological profile:
Lewis's ability allows him to manipulate the growth of plants and other vegetation. His body is now more plant than animal, allowing him to mimic a variety of vegetation habits such as: cellular regeneration, UV energy absorption, and influence over movements of nearby plant life.
Due to his vegetative nature, fire and herbicide are his biggest weaknesses.
According to his assignment tracker file at primatechpaper.com, Brendan's control index is 75%. His data analysis shows his biological level at 85, cerebral at 55, elemental at 90, and temporal/spatial at 25.
- Regeneration appears to be a byproduct of his ability.
