Request by NBC

  • NBC moved their web sites over to a new server last night and would like to enlist our help in making sure nothing is broken (specifically with the Heroes content). If you're browsing the Heroes content on their site and you find anything that's not working properly (broken link, forms not working, etc.), please post it here and I will make sure the information gets back to NBC. Thanks! (Admin 13:42, 27 August 2009 (EDT))
    • I went through the main pages tonight, and I couldn't find anything I could attribute to the server move. However, going through the pages on the main Heroes site, I found that the main flash drop-down navigation at blog.nbc.com/evolutions, the Season 3 walk-through page, is misaligned, and some links are missing that are present on the other Heroes pages of NBC's site. I think that the Evolutions blog is likely a separate issue since it's not directly at http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/ and that page hasn't been updated since the end of Season 3, but it probably won't hurt to report it. What the techs probably need to check (and I'm just guessing here), is that the Evolutions e-mail/text database was brought over to the new server, so people can still get their alerts. The Heroes: Survival game's database was offline most of yesterday morning and afternoon due to the server move; but after the problem was reported, it was brought back up and running again.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:16, 28 August 2009 (EDT)
    • P.S.: There's probably also a separate database of text messages that Sprint grabs for the Heroes Interactive/iSMS that runs concurrently with the on-air broadcasts of the show. However, I'm not sure if that database is now maintained on Sprint's server or on NBC's server. When Heroes Interactive was run by OpenTV, the platform login was on NBC's server.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:31, 28 August 2009 (EDT)
    • Well, here is something that has actually bugged me since I saw it in June (so, not something connected with the server move, but still something that should be fixed, imo)... I've reported it via the Technical Support form you can get to from the footer of the nbc pages, and nothing has been done about it, so maybe it'll get fixed through this channel. I may also report it at 9thWonders, too. So, here goes... When I first saw the news that the HEROES Fan Art Gallery was updated, I checked it out, and was stoked, 'cuz I could see that one of the 3D Helixes (prefer that to "Helices"...) I submitted was accepted (screencap). However, at the time, a person would be sent to an error page if ya clicked on the stereogram thumbnail to view the pic (&, just fyi - it's the 506th of 519 images). Later, though, you could see the 3D Helix (link goes to another screencap with info), but only if you knew its url specifically (or knew of any of the other urls for the 15 newest submissions), because otherwise, when you use the default url for the gallery (the third link shared in this message), or clicked on one of the older images (within the first 504 pics), you would only be sent to the page which allows you to see the 504 images that had been there before the update. Therefore, if nbc allowed folks to access all 519 images (or, the current total), without having to know the specific url for one of the newest 15 images, then that would be great (and, expected, as well)! I don't see why they shared news that they "updated" the fan gallery, but have not updated the default url page, because, at the moment, it appears as if they've "hidden" the newest submissions. Why would they do that, or appear to do that, even after the issue has been reported?!? Anyway, if you could pass along the info, I'd appreciate it. :) 'ROESian
      • Sooo... Did nbc look at what was reported? There isn't a change to the HEROES Fan Art Gallery, and that's a bummer that most folks don't know or see the 15 newest submissions. 'ROESian
    • Here's something: I tried to log in so I could join in with the heroes:survival game and try and get my character in a graphic novel, and it said my email address was already registered. I didn't think it was, so I tried my other address, which I know I haven't registered on NBC. It said the same thing. I then created an entirely new address especially for registering. It said THAT one was already registered aswell! Can you pass on that it won't let me do it? It's really unfair! TempestTechnopath 17:01, 31 August 2009
      • If you're still having trouble, try logging into MyNBC.com before going to the game. The game should use your MyNBC account, if you have one.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:50, 17 September 2009 (EDT)

9th Wonders offline

If anyone else is having trouble, I think they are moving the 9th Wonders forum onto the new server tonight. I can access the headers, but am have trouble accessing any of the messages. Hopefully, this should be cleared up soon.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:37, 30 August 2009 (EDT)

  • Today, I'm able to access some sections/subforums, but most are still not loading for me.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:08, 31 August 2009 (EDT)
    • Ok, it's working now. I think my cookie must have broke during the server move cause logging out and back in solved all the issues I was having. Clearing the cache had no effect.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:28, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

Disney buys Marvel Comics for $4 Billion!

I'm wondering what people here think about this (click for news info). When I heard about it, the large amount offered made me wonder if other motion picture companies will now follow suit. FedEx paid only $2.5 billion for brick and mortar store chain Kinko's in 2003... Major competitor, DC Comics, has been owned by Warner Brothers for some time now. Might we see a bid from Paramount or Universal for Image Comics? Image is the third largest comics publisher in the U.S., and features such titles as 'Spawn' and 'Witchblade' that have gone to TV/film production... On a related note, way to go to Perlmutter, who acquired Marvel while it was going through bankruptcy in 1996.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:41, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

RIP BionicWiki.com and HeroesARG.com

Our sister site, BionicWiki.com, regarding canceled show Bionic Woman, went down a couple months ago in July 2009 when the domain registration expired. HeroesARG.com was taken down this week, so I've removed it from our featured sites. If you still see links here to either site, feel free to remove them.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:27, 8 September 2009 (EDT)

  • Also, Ryan and I both have Frank's e-mail, the owner of heroesarg.com. Frank notes he no longer has the time to keep his site updated, due to work and family, and that's the only reason he took down HeroesARG. If anyone would like to share their thanks to him for his efforts, they can post here and we can forward to him your thanks.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:35, 8 September 2009 (EDT)

Challenge!!

I challenge Heroes Wiki to complete all of the checklists that are to come in Season Four by the time the season ends!!!!

  • Personally, I'd rather see the stubs taken care of first. But yes, there's a lot of work to do! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:13, 8 September 2009 (EDT)
    • I agree..stubs from Season One and Two really need to be filled in...well, they all do but you know what I mean! Like in the iStory (Agent and Civilian) how the summaries aren't filled in, for those of us who haven't read them(including mylself) can't fill them in because we've got nothing to go by! But it all needs to be done..I'll try to complete them as much as I can! --Iheartheroes 16:13, 9 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Wait, how could we finish the checklists from season 4 if we won't know a few until the season is over? The challenge is flawed! --mc_hammark 15:31, 21 January 2010 (EST)

House Party

Hey, everybody! I have been selected by the Heroes All Access team to host one of ten official Heroes House Parties to celebrate the premiere of Season Four! If you live in the Harrisburg, PA area and would like to attend my party on September 21, please contact me (here's a link to my talk page, and my email address is ryangibsonstewart at heroeswiki dot com). It's going to be a great time at my house that evening, and I'd love to have anybody over who would like to come. Plus, it'll be great fun for all of us to go through the party pack that Heroes All Access is sending me! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:41, 14 September 2009 (EDT)

  • Cool, you did too? That's 5 that I've seen so far - 2 from twitter, you, one at facebook, and this one... :D 'ROESian
    • I'm most curious about what's on the DVD. I guess I'll find out tomorrow...um, I mean on Monday night. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:57, 17 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Checked my email, 'cuz the last time I checked to see what's up with the tracking confirmation, it just said "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on September 15, 2009 to expect your package for mailing." Anyway, just read the new email from HAA: "Just letting you know your kit was mailed and you should be receiving it shortly! Also, if you have self control, try not to watch the included DVD until before the show on Monday (it's short and it is perfectly okay to play it in front of your guests)...but we do not want others to see you spoiling it online :)" Fun stuff! And like you, way curious, too! 'ROESian
        • Got the package today - cool stuff! Like the Season 4-themed disposable camera, Comic-Con swag, party stuff and personalized dvd label... :D Startin' to feel like a cold's comin' though - not fun for a party atmosphere. :( 'ROESian
          • Cool stuff! I'm still waiting for my package to arrive. (It better get here soon!) Have fun at your party tomorrow, and feel better... :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:53, 20 September 2009 (EDT)
  • I will unfortunately be away on the day of the premiere or else I would absolutely be there. :) (Admin 18:19, 17 September 2009 (EDT))
  • Sound like you're going to have a blast, Ryan! I don't know ANY fans who live near me (Broward County, Florida), so I'll just be watching the premiere while on MSN with other fans. I bet you'll have a swell time, as the premiere looks amazing. :)--Citizen 06:21, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
    • Thanks, Citizen. Should be a good time tonight. I'll be sending pictures to NBC and Heroes All Access, so I imagine they'll be posted somewhere at some point. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:12, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Got some basic pics of the HEROES party pack online, at the moment... Will send in party ones to HAA afterwards. :D 'ROESian
        • Thanks for those awesome pics, HERO. Looks like those parties are gonna be a blast. By the way, how's 9th these days?--Citizen 16:02, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
      • Can I just say, if I lived in America, I would SO be there--IronyUTC CH 16:17, 21 September 2009 (EDT)

Season Four portals

I've updated all the templates and portals for the Season Four cast and characters. There's a lot of templates that make them work (how we've evolved!) and some really fancy code that makes the magic happen. If I've missed something and you can't figure it out, feel free to let me know what the problem is. Of course, there will be some funny red links and mistaken code until Monday evening, so after that, if you see anything that's just not working the way it should, let me know. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:38, 18 September 2009 (EDT)

Timeline inconsistencies (October 2006)

Hi everyone,
There are some major inconsistencies with the timeline of October 2006. For days actually I've been revising every event, every scene in the first six episodes one-by-one.. even tried to make a small scale timeline string. Now I'm almost sure that there are two wrong canonical informations which contradicts two other canonical infos, also absurdising many other things. I'm not sure whether here is the place for discussing this, but as an almost post-academical analyses of timelines one-by-one and character-by-character, I can definitely say that there's need to change the timelines of multiple things - actually just sliding most of them by one day. Please leave an open mind and discuss it asap.
Thank you in advance,

Need Help building a new Fan-Creation page: Top 5 Quotes

I would like to ask everyone to visit my userpage here and contribute their top-5 favorite quotes. I want to make this into a mainspace Fan-Creation page, and Ryan advised me to post here soliciting members to participate, and once it becomes populated, then move it into the mainspace. Thanks in advance for your entries...I look forward to reading them, and watching the page grow! --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/21/2009 14:25 (EST)

Site problems

Does anyone have problems with the site recently? Every once in a while, while clicking through the links on the site, I'll get a 404 not found error on a WebServerX system page (sometimes it'll be a Google page and sometimes it'll simply be a blank page saying "Not Found - 404"). Also, sometimes I've been redirected to random websites when clicking the "Submit" button on edit pages. --Radicell 10:50, 6 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I haven't experienced those things. Have you tried a different browser? If so, you should probably let Admin know so he can try to track down the problem.--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:28, 6 October 2009 (EDT)
    • I haven't had that problem either. My only issue is sometimes when I'm clicking hastily, an ad for Sprint will pop up in a new window, most likely because I've clicked the wrong spot. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:52, 6 October 2009 (EDT)
      • What web browser are you using? For what it's worth the site doesn't run on anything remotely related to WebServerX. Are you actually located in China or are you using proxies over there? In either case I know China does a lot of Internet filtering so you may be running into sporadic issues related to that filtering (which may for some reason only be occurring when you visit here). (Admin 12:07, 6 October 2009 (EDT))
        • I think that may be the problem (I'm on Firefox btw). I'm getting all sorts of error pages (this one happened when I was trying to edit this page!) Sometimes China blocks the site entirely, and I have to wait a few minutes before reentering it. Well, I guess the problem is on my end. --Radicell 21:20, 6 October 2009 (EDT)

Season Summaries

I know that certain characters don't have enough sub-articles or whatevers they are called to have season summaries, but I think at least those who were part of the main cast should have season summaries like a vast majority of the main characters. So, I mean characters like Maya, Adam, Isaac. I think it would trim their page and make it simpler. --Skullman1392 22:48, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

  • If a character shows no promise of appearing again, I don't see the need to archive the information on the page, only to summarize it. I'd personally rather just see the original information than a summary. Archives are to make room for more information. Of course, any character can make a comeback on Heroes, but if there's no real prospect of that, then I don't think the pages need to be trimmed to make room. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:55, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
