Redirect

Can we add "Ability absorption" as a redirect, since ability and power are interchangeable words on here, an I am constantly calling it that. Similarly, "Power replication" should be a redirect for Ability replication if it isn't already. --mc_hammark 18:04, 2 February 2010 (EST)

Development

The notes say 'In special feature "The Writers Forum" found on the Season 3 DVD, writers Tim Kring, Adam Armus, and Aron Eli Coleite reveal that Arthur's ability is a more developed form of Peter's empathic mimicry and they are actually different versions of the same ability.' -- But how is stealing abilities on touch be a development of EM, or does Development of abilities not always have to mean they become better? -- (WaterRatj) 14:21, 3 February 2010 (EST)

  • There has been a giant discussion on this already, in a relevant talk page. Unfortunately, I don't remember its outcome. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 14:34, 3 February 2010 (EST)
    • ah okay, won't bother then :P, was just wondering. -- (WaterRatj) 14:35, 3 February 2010 (EST)

I reckon Authur might have lied

I reckon Authur can give back abilities even through he said to Peter, they have gone for good.--50000JH 15:49, 27 March 2010 (EDT)

  • What makes you say that?--ERROR 23:28, 27 September 2011 (EDT)

POWER or ABILITY absorption?

The new GN says that Arthur's ability is Ability Absorption. So which one would be preferable to use: The current or the new one? Or do we just refer both names in the ability page i.e Power absorption(also called as Ability absorption)There really isn't much difference there, as it both connotes absorbing Evolved human abilities... just wondering what the site would like to use to call the ability...—Preceding unsigned comment added by Realistic (talkcontribs) March 29

  • I switch to ability absorption --SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:43, 30 March 2010 (EDT)
    • I agree. I'd rather see this ability called "ability absorption" than "power absorption" where it needs to be "official" (like the title of the page). But we can use the two terms interchangeably. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:48, 30 March 2010 (EDT)
      • Also agreed. Ability seems to be more common in naming, while Arthur's ability is the only one with 'power'. --Faflec 1:20, 30 March 2010 (EDT)
        • I, personally, like "power", but everyone else uses "ability".--Cro Magnon 10:25, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

developed form of empathic mimicry

"In special feature "The Writers Forum" found on the Season 3 DVD, writers Tim Kring, Adam Armus, and Aron Eli Coleite reveal that Arthur's ability is a more developed form of Peter's empathic mimicry and they are actually different versions of the same ability." This statement has confused me, if this ability was a developed form of empathic mimicry then the Arthur would just gain the ability without making contact and the person without demonstrating the ability, like when Peter replicated Claire's ability from homecoming Peter manage to mimic Claire's ability without Claire not need to heal herself, then we would saw in the "dying of the light" Arthur would heal himself, taking his mask off and standing up and when Adam Monroe walk into the room, instead of Arthur touching Adam although he could control not to take ability then until he touch Adam.

Also taking into account, where Peter first met the future Hiro and time froze would the same effect happen to Arthur?--50000JH 12:34, 19 April 2010 (EDT)

  • Your point is? My guess is that Empathic mimicry can developed to the point where the user can forcibly remove another's ability (such as Arthur does). Considering Ability immunity, Arthur would be able to move around if some one stopped time near him (be it Peter or Hiro). --Leckie -- Talk 12:41, 19 April 2010 (EDT)
    • Din't Hiro just teleported to the subway (and maybe stopped time) then made time go again, peter absorbing the ability and then froze time agian? I always thought it happend that way? -- (WaterRatj) 14:07, 19 April 2010 (EDT)

Yes I do mean that, if you looked at empathic mimicry it had a good ability immunity to some good abilities like telepathy and space-time manipulation but we not seem the same from empathic Mimicry.--50000JH 12:53, 19 April 2010 (EDT)

  • Well, for me if the ability is a more developed version of EM, then that means at some point he had to have EM, so also means that peter would be immune to the power stealing from arthur, so pretty much think their two different abilities, also my point of view is that if its a developed version of EM then he still would have the area-part of his ability, you don't lose aspects when you develop. Not to my knowledge at least -- (WaterRatj) 14:02, 19 April 2010 (EDT)
  • I think what the writers were meaning is that it comes from the same branch on the tree. The same way mental manipulation and neurocognitive deficit would come from the same branch, and telekinesis, levitation and puppet master. --mc_hammark 14:51, 19 April 2010 (EDT)
    • 50000JH, I apologize in advance, but this wall of text said nothing new, it just restated what people already know. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:40, 19 April 2010 (EDT)

Maybe it's like enhanced teleporting. You could say it's a developed form of teleportation, but it was never stated it was once teleportation. Green.gif AltesUTC CH 01:59, 21 April 2010 (EDT)

I was questioning if a person with ability absortion would have the same immunity with someone with empathic mimicry, if they didn't have space-time manipulation and somebody else, when they stopped time . We have no evidence of that happening only a person with Empathic Mimicry being immuned when somebody stops time.--50000JH 12:51, 26 April 2010 (EDT)

Multiple Absorption

Could Arthur steal the same ability from multiple people? --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 18:37, 24 May 2010 (EDT)
