Newer characters

I'm likely too much of a lazy ass to do it myself, but I suppose characters like Molly, Thompson, and Candace should be here too. If I work up my courage, I'll do it myself. Renenarciso 17:41, 13 May 2007 (EDT)

  • Heh, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:03, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Nice job on Molly. I'll work on the others. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:05, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
      • So are we going to attempt to list all of the characters here, or just the major ones? I think Audrey Hanson is as much a major character as Aron is...--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:50, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
        • I actually think Aron should probably be taken out. Originally, I said that I left some characters out because their connections weren't significant (which is how I feel about Aron). To me, it's less about how "major" a character is, and more about how many connections they have. Audrey has some pretty good connections, but they're really no different than Matt's. That's just my opinion, though. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:25, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
          • Ok i get it :), i'm going to find a picture about Arnold and mabye a better one of Amanda.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:47, 22 December 2009 (EST)
          • I think Aron should probably stay. He isn't a "sidekick" with some of the same connections as its more important counterpart (like Audrey), and he is just major enough to merit inclusion, IMO. Nice work on Candice and Thompson, BTW. Renenarciso 22:54, 13 May 2007 (EDT)
  • What about Kimiko Nakamura ? Shouldn't she be on this page ? -- FrenchFlo (talk)        07:39, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Well, her only connections are to Hiro, Ando, and Kaito (which aren't even that profound, if you ask me). I'm not opposed to Kimiko's inclusion on this page, I just don't see the point. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:56, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

Cites

  1. This page is awesome.
  2. I started adding citations. I went with the earliest episode in which the two characters are connected. This required some adjustments to the text (Eden and Sylar, for example.)
  3. Where more than one character was listed on the same line and the episodes they first interacted with the target differed, I added a second cite and put them in corresponding order. (Mr. Bennet and the Haitian abducting Matt, for example: Mr. Bennet is in Collision, the Haitian is in OGL.)
  4. Some of the citations are a bit tricky. For example, with D.L. and Niki, we know in Genesis that she has an estranged husband named D.L., we know in One Giant Leap that he's named D.L. Hawkins, but we don't see him until the end of Hiros. I went with OGL and added a note.--Hardvice (talk) 04:45, 2 February 2007 (EST)
  1. Thanks! I had a booooring training meeting yesterday, so I sat with my pencil and paper and just went to town.
  2. Your adjustments look great.
  3. I think it was a good idea to split them like that.
  4. I was going to leave off citations for assumed family relationships (like Claire and Mr. B., or the Sanderseses/Hawkinseses), but I think where you put the cites are just fine. Thanks for adding all those cites! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:11, 2 February 2007 (EST)

Lead Image Suggestions?

  • This page is too cool to leave off the portals. Suggestions for a lead image? I'm personally leaning towards one of the more random meetings, like Hiro and Nathan in the diner.--Hardvice (talk) 05:17, 2 February 2007 (EST)
    • That's exactly what I was thinking! Another that would be cool (if it exists) is a bigger meeting of the minds. I don't think there's one big shot of everybody in NYC (except that cast photo with Milo's funny face). Is there a shot of I, N, S, H, & A all at Isaac's apartment from Godsend? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:11, 2 February 2007 (EST)
      • I thought the Hiro/Nathan pic was an okay choice, but the "Strangers in the (Fly By) Night" caption has totally sealed the deal for me. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:57, 3 February 2007 (EST)
    • What about something that shows a network of connections between people graphically? Here's a picture I found that looks something like what I'm thinking. If somebody gets ambitious, it could maybe even have a bunch of little circles with each characters face in one and lines that depict the actual connections.--E rowe 18:21, 3 February 2007 (EST)
      • My only concern is that the few places in the Portals where we have screencaps mixed with illustrations, it looks kind of ... bad.--Hardvice (talk) 18:29, 3 February 2007 (EST)
      • I do think something visually illustrative would make a good addition to the page, but not necessarily as the lead image. Lostpedia has some pretty good ones (informational and pictoral), including a chart and even a Kevin Bacon map. I don't think we necessarily need to go to that extreme, but if somebody wanted to chart it all out, I would love to see it! (It would take some work, though...) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:47, 3 February 2007 (EST)
        • Could we use another lead image? I was thinking of one of the graphic novel images with a bunch of characters together.--Ice Vision 22:07, 23 May 2007 (EDT)

Other Supporting Characters?

The supporting characters not yet included are: Audrey, Tina, and Zach. Is it worth adding any of them?

  • Tina (connected to Niki, D.L., and Micah)
  • Zach (connected to Claire, Mr. Bennet, the Haitian and Chandra)
  • Audrey (connected to Sylar, Ted, Matt, Mr. Bennet, Claire, Peter, and the Haitian)

I'd say "no" to Tina and probably Zach (his connections are pretty much all through Claire), but Audrey's worth consideration.--Hardvice (talk) 05:23, 2 February 2007 (EST)

I didn't think of Tina, but I thought about adding Zach and Audrey and Charles Deveaux. However, all their connections are basically the same as their counterparts. In fact the only reason I added Ando was because he's Huggerz69. Audrey was a tough one because she has a much more personal connection to Sylar than Matt, but it's still the same connection as Matt. But I am in no way opposed to adding anybody else, I just didn't want to type anymore last night. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:11, 2 February 2007 (EST)

Contact type

  • We should definitely consider listing the type of contact (physical, verbal etc), though maybe that just matters with Peter. Bkdelong 16:58, 20 February 2007 (EST)
    • I think that would be more appropriate for empathic mimicry or Peter's history. If we start listing physical/verbal contact for everybody, it's going to get crazy. This list is not meant to be exhaustive, but just a reference to see who is connected to whom. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:59, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Who shot at whom

The Haitian shot Claude and Mr. Bennet shot at Peter, how should it say The Haitian's connection to Peter? Right now it says: Peter is shot at by the Haitian. (Unexpected), my attempt was Kind of awkward. -Level 17:33, 20 February 2007 (EST)

  • Well, I think it's okay to say that the Haitian and Bennet were shooting at Peter and Claude. I'm sure the Haitian's goal was not specifically to shoot Claude, nor HRG's prime target Peter. But let me go ahead and tweak the wording a bit for you. We want to avoid listing people over and over again on this list...Maybe something like "Peter is pursued by the Haitian" or "Peter encounters the Haitian on the roof"... I'll go ahead and change it now. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:59, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Addition of Image

I propose the character-map image in this blog be included if possible. --User:Bugmenot 01:21, 1 March 2007

  • I dont see any copyright info on the site, so we have to assume it's not available to redistribute. (Admin 02:27, 1 March 2007 (EST))
    • I like the connections. I have two concerns: I'd hate to steal somebody else's work when we could recreate it without a problem. I also think there'd be a lot of maintenance to an image like that. I'm not opposed to creating a map like that, I just don't want to be the one to constantly update it. Thanks for the link, though! :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:05, 1 March 2007 (EST)
      • Hi guys, you can find the image at [1] .. I'll update this image when i'm updating the original page... [User:HeroesRevealed]

Source of Connection

So with the Hiro blog/email thing referring to Hana, should we include Heroes 360 into this section? --Bob 12:20, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

Images

I added some images to each section. I'm not sure how I feel about them. On the one hand, it's nice to have a visual anchor on a page that, frankly, only holds interest as a whole and not in its details. It's fun to see some of the connections in pictures, too. On the other hand, the pictures kind of mess with the flow a bit. Thoughts? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:57, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

Layout

I moved the notes and quotes to the top to fill in some of the whitespace. We can move it back down again, but we really should find something to fill in that whitespace. I wouldn't mind seeng a good illustrative quote in a nice blurb... — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:11, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

  • How about a TOC that's horizontal spanned instead of vertical... I really miss the toc...--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:11, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Wow, Level just finished making it as I posted the suggestion. Check it out here. Now we just have to fit it in.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:17, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
      • Heh, and Level and I both added it at the same time... Looks good now, thanks Level!--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:24, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
        • Honestly, I prefer a standard TOC. What was the motivation for changing it? --Ted C 13:22, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
          • OK, I can see where the sheer length of the standard TOC would be annoying, but I'm still not thrilled with this alternative. --Ted C 13:24, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
            • I think the idea of a horizontal TOC is great for this page. It could probably use some cleaning up to fit with the style of the rest of the site, but I think it's a good choice. In fact, it takes up enough of the white space that we can probably move the Q&N south again. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:20, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
              • I agree. Personally, rather than making it a full TOC, I'd just put the characters on it (like the TOC on Powers just lists the powers) and put it in the Characters section.--Hardvice (talk) 14:24, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
              • Another thing we can do to eliminate some of the whitespace is to format this page more like Season One:
Ando watches Niki.

Ando

That way, we wouldn't need a br at the beginning of the Characters section at all ... the text of the first section would just linewrap to avoid the sidebar.--Hardvice (talk) 14:59, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

  • Oh, yeah, duh, that's a great idea. I'll try that now. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:07, 14 May 2007 (EDT)
    • I'm also trying to get TOC limits working (so we can have a regular TOC list the top-level sections (Characters, Notes, Memorable Quotes) and use a separate horizontal TOC within the character section, but I'm having limited success. It's not working, even if you skip the template and try to apply the TOClimit class manually. I'm not sure why; MediaWiki: Common.css is updated to include the relevant classes. Hmmm.--Hardvice (talk) 15:24, 14 May 2007 (EDT)

The Eclipse

In an interview, Tim Kring talks about the eclipse and how it connects all the characters together:

Does the solar eclipse we saw in the pilot have something to do with the characters' discovering that they have special powers?
"In the pilot, the eclipse was really meant mainly to be a single global event that could connect all these characters visually and in time," says Tim Kring. "But that's not to say that we won't discover that it maybe had some other effects, as well. We will, but it will not be explained for a while."

Can we add this to the article?--Ice Vision 21:07, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

  • Absolutely. Something in the notes about the eclipse--'specially a quote from Tim Kring--would be wholly appropriate. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:24, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

Aron

It was actually four, not three connections before Heroe deleted him. Are we sure we want to remove him from this page when he's probably returning next year?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:15, 31 May 2007 (EDT)

  • He's dead. I'm pretty sure he won't return. Besides, three connections isn't really enough to go on this page, IMO. --Heroe!(talk) (contribs) 00:16, 31 May 2007 (EDT)
    • Ok, I guess you're right about deleting him for now. It's four connections though (not 3): D.L., Linderman, Matt and Niki.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:25, 31 May 2007 (EDT)
      • You could add Micah because they were in the same house, but it doesn't really matter...--Ice Vision 00:45, 31 May 2007 (EDT)
        • Even 5 or 6 connections, he's just a very minor character. I originally added him sometime before Run!, I believe, when I knew he had a connection to D.L., Linderman, Niki, and then Matt. I kinda jumped the gun, and I think it's a good idea he's gone from the page. He seemed very incongruous with the rest of the characters. RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:52, 31 May 2007 (EDT)

Updates

  • Are we going to remove the lesser connections from Season 1 to make room for new ones? Any preferences on how to handle this? We could probably take off people like Isaac and Charlie...--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:13, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
    • I wouldn't mind taking off Charlie, but I don't think it's necessary. I certainly wouldn't take off Isaac, as he is connected to almost every major player. Personally, I would just add to this list. I'm not opposed to making a "Character connections/Season One" page, but I think it's unnecessary right now. I also think it defeats the purpose of the page--characters in S2 will carry their connections with them. When Micah and Molly hypothetically meet up in S2, it's nice to see if they've met previously. Plus, since this page is pretty much limited to one connection per character pair (in other words, the most significant connection is listed), I don't think this page will grow so much that it's unmanageable. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:12, 21 August 2007 (EDT)

Potential additions

Those two sound like a good idea. It's going to take a while to complete the updates, though... --Ice Vision (talk) 19:51, 23 January 2008 (EST)

A few of these I wouldn't consider connections.

"Noah knows about Bob" or "Noah shoots at Peter on Simone's fathers building" (reworded by memory, sorry)

I wouldn't necessarily call these connections. Alot of people know about Nathan Petrelli, he was running for congress. Doesn't mean they're connected. And Noah is connected to Peter there, not Simone.

Any thoughts? --Riddler 16:06, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

Also, I wouldn't put future characters in (Like Sylar connected to Angela or Hiro connected to Candice) unless they've had a connection to a present day character (Peter to Future Hiro, Hiro to Future Hiro, or Ando to Future Noah/Matt/Peter)--Riddler 16:14, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

  • You just contradicted yourself. We never saw Future Sylar interact with Angela, but there's more interaction on screen than Peter getting shot at by Bennet. I think that Noah knowing about Bob is a connection, because he's aware of them, making the plot connection between the two. The point of the page was to show the connection, not the interaction. --Bob (talk) 16:24, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
    • The Peter point wasn't about a Peter connection, it was about a Simone connection. It says Noah is connected to Simone because he was on her fathers building. I related it to Peter 'cause that's who he's really connected to in that scene. And the Sylar/Angela thing was a reference to what's on the page. I said we shouldn't have that because it's in a possible future. No contradictions.--Riddler 17:56, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
      • Oops, misread that. You're right. I'll scan through some of these, but I think the reason the Future Sylar/Angela link was made was because it says "Angela Petrelli's house" or something like that when Sylar meets up with Claire. But good call.--Bob (talk) 18:18, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
        • That is why the Sylar/Angela connection was made, but my point was that I don't think Future connections should be listed here, unless a future character has had a direct connection to a present character. Ando went into the future and made some connections, I'd say that works. Peter met future Hiro, I'd say that works too.--Riddler 18:29, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
  • " Noah sees a painting of Adam" - C'mon, this is a stretch, amongst many others.--Riddler 19:17, 14 November 2007 (EST)

Phew!

I'm done adding connections for Arthur. Next up are Knox and Flint, as well as Sandra, West, and maybe Tracy. And Usutu too. Radicell 09:11, 1 December 2008 (EST)

Barbara

can i add her? connections to the german, zimmerman, niki, barbara, tracy, and, i suppose, dl, and micah - Tristan0709 16:59, 8 December 2008 (EST)

  • I don't think she's important enough to be added. We don't even know if that woman in the picture with the German was really Barbara or not. I'd say that we wait 'till she appears, and then see. I think I've added enough characters up to date- unless someone wants to add Jesse, who's pretty much the only one kinda worth adding. Connections would be to Noah, Sylar, Flint, Knox, Angela, Peter, and Claire. --Radicell 09:00, 10 December 2008 (EST)
    • I could work on Jesse's now. I would have to rewatch the first three episodes of Villains first, its been so long since we've seen him, it's hard to remember what connections there are. --Skullman1392 17:03, 5 June 2009 (EDT)
      • Actually, most of "Jesse's" connections are when he was under Peter's control... is he still worth adding? Sylar kills him, Noah tells Claire of him, Angela knows of hiim, The Haitian helped captured him, Knox fought with him, but is that enough? Would Flint still have a connection to him (or to his body when Peter was in control)? I'm not so sure anymore if he still belongs on this page... --Skullman1392 19:09, 5 June 2009 (EDT)
        • Flint and Knox's connections to Jesse are that they were co-incarcerated in Level 5. However, I don't believe that he's important enough to be added. --Radicell 22:40, 5 June 2009 (EDT)
          • He's got more connections than Monica and Charlie, and the same amount as Maya and Alex... Maya and Monica were lead characters, but Alex and Charlie weren't that important... Plus I already added him.--Skullman1392 22:52, 5 June 2009 (EDT)

Simone's Picture

I don't think her picture techincally counts as a connection, it's just an example of Candice's power. I think a beter pic would be one of Simone and Nathan when Nathan destroys the missing painting or a pic of Simone with Issaac on the Deveaux Rooftop. I just don't think the current image truly represents a connection.

  • I agree. I'll change it now. --Skullman1392 16:45, 5 June 2009 (EDT)

New characters

Are we only using characters that have appeared in an episode here? Because Abigail and Sparrow could be added. Sparrow's connected to Micah, Monica, West, Abigail, Claude, Alex. And Abigail's connected to the same people as Sparrow (minus Alex). Now that I think about it, Nana's had some more connections now (Niki, Monica, Micah, West, Sparrow, Abigail, D.L.) --Skullman1392 17:08, 5 June 2009 (EDT)

I think only Sparrow, cause she is connected to Micah, West, Claude, Flint, Elle`s Cell List, Sylar`s Victim List, Chandra`s List, was in the plane with Claire, Peter, Matt, Tracy, Mohinder and Hiro, is in the search for Monica, and apparently was in the run with Alex. I don know if it counts that Noah was in the plane to. I think she should be added.

I think for Sparrow`s image (if she`s ever added) should go as the masked fugitive that was with all of them.--Jmfdr 00:00, 28 June 2009 (EDT)

Well I'll get started on hers then. It's like a ghost town around here, nothing seems to be happening. --Skullman1392 10:35, 28 June 2009 (EDT)

Well, I'm probably talking to myself, but I just want to say that Sparrow has been added and is officially on the page. This makes her the 50th person on the page. wow. --Skullman1392 04:27, 14 July 2009 (EDT)

Carnival

Should we add characters from the carnival like Samuel, Edgar or Lydia?--Yoshi n1 11:29, 13 November 2009 (EST)

Update

Someone should really update this list of connections.--Yoshi n1 12:16, 13 November 2009 (EST)

  • Go right ahead. But we normally include the first connection, not the most significant (with the exception of family members)--Skullman1392 14:25, 13 November 2009 (EST)

Lydia and Amanda

So far Lydia is connected to Samuel, Hiro, Edgar, Sylar, Tracy and the people in her tatoos (Noah, Peter, Claire, Charlie, Danko); Amanda is connected to Samuel, Peter, Tracy, Hiro, Sylar, Noah, Meredith, Edgar and Lydia.--Jmfdr91 19:36, 26 November 2009 (EST)

  • I wouldn't mind adding Lydia. I don't think an entry for Amanda is needed though. --Radicell 03:04, 27 November 2009 (EST)
    • Lydia´s entry is done. Thought I still think Amanda deserves her own entry, at least she has more connections than Emma (only 4) and has as many as Jesse, Alex, Charlie and Audrey. She even have more than Maya.--Jmfdr91 00:59, 30 November 2009 (EST)
    • She´s now connected to Claire also, making it 10 connections so far.--Jmfdr91 21:02, 1 December 2009 (EST)
      • Add her, she has 10 connections and has appeared in all forms of Heroes media. She's clearly important enough for this page. --Skullman1392 21:39, 1 December 2009 (EST)
        • Done. BTW, the last 4 tiny edits were cause the page was too large for me to upload. My bad, sorry.--Jmfdr91 00:23, 2 December 2009 (EST)

Joseph

According to Skullman there should't be an chapter for Joseph, why not?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:31, 22 December 2009 (EST)

  • Because there are only 5 points, and three of them are people he "lives" with. So its not really that important... ~~IHHTalk 12:33, 22 December 2009 (EST)
    • Ok i understand that, but skullman why did you revert the picture of Amanda? i mean that Amanda met Sylar was really ordinary, but that she had a fight with her mother, who cares about that? shouldn't we place the pictures who are ordinary?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:39, 22 December 2009 (EST)
      • Than what about Arnold's picture?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:42, 22 December 2009 (EST)
        • It's best to have pictures from Episodes or Webisodes, not GNs iStories for real life people/things rather than cartoons/animations. ~~IHHTalk 12:44, 22 December 2009 (EST)
        • Yes, but the images should be from en episode or webisode if it can be helped, not from the GNs, that's why I changed Danko. I don't know if there is a picture of Arnold in the episodes with somebody else, maybe somebody can find one? Or a better one of Amanda with Edgar, maybe? --Skullman1392 12:46, 22 December 2009 (EST)
            • Ok i get it :), i'm searching right now for a better picture of Arnold and mabye a better one of Amanda.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:48, 22 December 2009 (EST)
              • What about a picture of him with Charles? -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:50, 22 December 2009 (EST)
                • That would be great :D --Skullman1392 12:55, 22 December 2009 (EST)
                  • Sadly, there isn't a moment with both of them on the same screen.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 12:59, 22 December 2009 (EST)

Page Rules

So what are the rules of this page? How many connections are needed for a character to be added? And do they need to be of certain importance to be added? Just looking through and seeing that you had Sandra, I was thinking why not Zach, Lyle, Matt Parkman Jr., Gretchen, Emma maybe even Janice? --Lightlowemon 04:21, 24 December 2009 (EST)

  • Typically, a person should have at least 6 connections, and they should be diverse (for example Joseph's entry was removed because his connections were all carnival-related). --Radicell 04:33, 24 December 2009 (EST)
So the characters I mentioned wouldn't be "strong enough" to be added in other words?--Lightlowemon 04:41, 24 December 2009 (EST)
      • Let's see. Zach's only major connection is Claire, with Sandra, Noah, Meredith, etc. being rather similar connections. So no Zach. Same thing with Lyle. Baby Matt is connected to Matt, but also Hiro, Ando, and Sylar. Pretty diverse, but too few. Gretchen's connected to Claire, Noah, and (possibly) Sandra. Too few, and too similar. Emma's connections are Peter and Hiro, and Samuel. Too few. So yeah. Until they are more prominently connected, I'd leave them off the page. --Radicell 04:50, 24 December 2009 (EST)

Actually Lyle has 12 connections, with Claire, Sandra, Noah, Elle, West, Bob, Ted, Matt, the Haitian (thought not seen with him he erased his memories), Alex, Rachel and Meredith. Sylar mentioned him, but I don´t know if that counts as connection. Can anybody remember if in the explossion he was near Thompson or the Haitian?--Jmfdr91 16:20, 30 December 2009 (EST)

Images´ Standard Size

Mohinder, Tracy and Usutu´s images are too little, isn´t there a standard size? If it doesn´t matter, then for Amanda´s image we should use the one where she´s with Samuel. I preffered that image. --Jmfdr91 01:38, 28 December 2009 (EST)

Template broken

Is it just me, or is the template used to link to the characters on this page broken? All I'm seeing is a lot of "{{2}}"s instead of their names. -Kon (talk) 16:10, 24 September 2015 (EDT)

  • Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I think it's fixed now. You might need to refresh. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:30, 24 September 2015 (EDT)
    • Perfect! I suspect we'll be adding to this article fairly soon :) -Kon (talk) 16:35, 24 September 2015 (EDT)
