# of columns

Is there a reason to have it to be 5 columns? I thought Plotpoints portals were supposed to be 4 columns? 5 columns doesn't fit on my screen.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:58, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

  • I think it's because Portal:Abilities is 5 wide, and I guess that's just how we've always done it. However, that portal may have been formatted like that because before the GN powers were split off, there were 43 cells. At 4 across, that means 11 rows, but at 5 across, there are only 9. Now there are 31 powers, which means 7 rows at 5 across, and 8 rows at 4 across. Sure, we can go to 4 across, which really is the standard for the site. If it's not fitting on your browser, then we should absolutely use 4 across. I'll take care of it now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:19, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
    • Ah, now I'm seeing what part of the issue is--Template:PortalPowers is not Template:PortalPlotPoints. PlotPoints is 150 wide, but PortalPowers is only 130 wide to accommodate a portal that's 5 across. I'll change the template now, but we might want to think about simply making PortalPowers a bit smaller (like 110) as we add more powers. Or somehow splitting the abilities portals. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:25, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
      • I'm at a library pc right now, and 5 columns is too wide for portalpowers for this pc. If we decide to split the portals, please take a look at User:MiamiVolts/Abilities portal project.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:37, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
        • I'm not a big fan of splitting them alphabetically if we can avoid it, but that's a discussion for another day. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:36, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
