Talk:The Bennets' home (disambig)

Refresh my memory of grammar--when using a city and state combination, the state is surrounded by commas, right? In other words, it should be "The Bennets' Costa Verde, CA, home" not "The Bennets' Costa Verde, CA home", right? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:36, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

  • I've never seen commas used after the state unless the sentence itself required one ("a Dallas, TX schoolteacher" vs. "Dallas, TX, home of the world's worst football team"), but I could be wrong.--Hardvice (talk) 18:40, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
  • And it looks like it depends on which style manual you ask. Some say there should be a comma after the state as well, some of the others say no, and a few say either is acceptable. Go figure.--Hardvice (talk) 18:44, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Go figure, indeed. That makes sense that there are different styles. I generally put a comma after the state (or country, as the case may be), but it's helpful to know that there is more than one acceptable way. I think I'll put the extra commas on this page, if, y'all, don't, mind. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:50, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
