Hey, what was up with another website popping up everytime I clicked a link? --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 18:31, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

  • Unless someone snuck a crafty ad by Google it could be something with your browser. There shouldn't be any popup ads here. If you notice it happening with a particular ad let me know and I'll block the ad from being displayed here. (Admin 21:35, 28 June 2007 (EDT))
    • It just happened. The website is --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 13:15, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
      • What was the ad for? Creative Commons isn't the kind of site that would use popup ads... it's not even advertising anything. (Admin 13:19, 6 July 2007 (EDT))
        • It wasn't exactly an ad or a popup. I would type in the url of this site, and it took me there. --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 13:22, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
          • Not sure why it would do that unless perhaps there's something up with your browser? Do you have Firefox installed already? If so and you continue to have trouble with IE, try Firefox instead and see if you have problems with that, too. If you don't have Firefox already there's a button for it all the way at the bottom of this page. (Admin 13:26, 6 July 2007 (EDT))

I think wikimedia: links to the wrong place. compare wikimedia:Help:Interwiki linking and wikimedia:Help:Interwiki linking. -Lөvөl 14:28, 5 June 2007 (EDT) from Help talk:Editing, it is still wrong. -Lөvөl 15:20, 9 July 2007 (EDT)

  • It's correct. [[wikimedia:]] links to the Wikimedia Foundation and [[mediawiki:]] links to MediaWiki. mediawiki and wikimedia are two different things. Your interwiki link is using wikimedia and your direct link is using mediawiki. (Admin 15:47, 9 July 2007 (EDT))
    • Oh, ok, is there a interwiki link to here? And [[mediawiki:]] doesn't work. -Lөvөl 17:41, 9 July 2007 (EDT)
      • There used to be, but I took it out. I just put it back in. It's [[metawikipedia:]]. And you're right, [[mediawiki:]] isn't an actual interwiki link. I'm personally not a huge fan of interwiki links because I like it to be clear when a link is to an external site. (Admin 17:51, 9 July 2007 (EDT))

Hello, i am a big fan from Hungary. I help glady translation. I have time and instrumentality. Wath is my work? I learn fast. (Sorry, my grammar is bad)--mazsola39 05:56, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

  • See Heroes Wiki:Languages for information. Admin will set up a localized wiki. :) 12:43, 13 July 2007 (EDT)
  • If there are several people who are very interested in doing translations then I'll set up a localized version of it for Hungarian. Right now we have several languages that very few people even contribute to, so before creating any additional ones I want to make sure there is a strong demand for it and a number of people excited (not just willing) to work on it. It's more work than a single person can do, so there needs to be a group of people who truely want to do it. (Admin 12:46, 13 July 2007 (EDT))
    • Ok. Yet i call several person, and they are helper. Yet is 3, i hope more to come. (Sorry my english so bad) --mazsola39 17:16, 15 July 2007 (EDT)

Other languages not working

Is there a reason the other languages are not working? -Lөvөl 12:02, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

  • What do you mean? (Admin 12:18, 13 July 2007 (EDT))
    • The languages links were not working for me, but I could open new pages in the English wiki. I tried other sites to make sure and the ones I tried worked, so I figured it was here and posted, then everything stopped working. I think it was my ISP. -Lөvөl 12:55, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

On the search page, in addition to all the namespace check boxes, is it possible to have a "check all" box? ... or is that a pipe dream? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:49, 20 July 2007 (EDT)

  • It should be pretty easy to do. I'll add it to my todo list and tackle it when I have some free time. (Admin 23:50, 13 August 2007 (EDT))

Happy SysAdmin Day

Hope you had a good one.--Bob 17:35, 27 July 2007 (EDT)

  • Thanks. :) I received a few emails from people at work, too. One of them saying that if I "worked in the office, we'd be having cake now, but since he does not, none of us will be enjoying cake." Heheh. Too funny. (Admin 17:37, 27 July 2007 (EDT))

Spoilers on german Wiki

Hey, we got a problem coming up on the german wiki and i hope you might be able to help us. Since Heroes has not yet started in germany (it will start in october) every piece of info in the wiki is a spoiler. So far we have more or less copied the articles from this wiki and translated them and stuff like that. When people are gonna start using the wiki they will be able to see much info than they could have gotten by watching the first episodes due to the fact that we already got all the info that is only revealed later in the season. so what shall we do now? mark all the articles as spoiler and remove the spoiler-tag bit by bit or leave it the way it is and leave it completly to the user to find out what info may be a spoiler and what not? i hope you get the problem and may have a advice for us what we shall do. thx Waldmeister 10:45, 31 July 2007 (EDT)

  • I'd say it's up to you and the community on the German wiki to decide what the wiki will be. If it's just a translation of the English wiki into German then it would make sense to leave all the articles intact and just add spoiler tags. If you'd like it to follow the show as it airs in Germany, then you could do something like comment out any spoiler information in the articles and then uncomment it after the episode airs. It's really up to you all on the German wiki to decide how you'd like to handle it. (Admin 12:32, 31 July 2007 (EDT))
    • That's alot of work to do if we comment out all the spoiler info and uncomment them later. currently the staff thats activly working is pretty small. there is only me and like 2 or 3 others that work now and then...nothing regular so far :/ i guess we could go by the idea of MiamiVolts and mark all episodes as spoiler that have not been aired yet. maybe we can even remove them from some templates to make it harder to accidentaly read them...don't know yet. Waldmeister 12:58, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
      • Another option, which is much easier to do but less direct, is to do a site notice that all information on the site is from episodes that have already aired. That way, there's just one edit to do be done, and the notice is at the top of every page. That's not necessarily what I would do, but it's an option. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:45, 1 August 2007 (EDT)

My friend

Hey, did you visit my friend Mandy's blog? She said she got a visit from somebody I think is you. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:19, 2 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Yep, it was me. I saw she linked to Heroes Wiki. I got a kick out of her referring to this as your unpaid job. :) Plus it's great that she'll be able to catch up on the whole first season of Heroes on Tivo. (Admin 10:59, 2 August 2007 (EDT))
    • We're watching it together, and we're up to Run!--it's been nice catching up on episodes I haven't seen in quite some time....How did you find her site? Do you just search Google for Heroes Wiki? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:59, 2 August 2007 (EDT)
      • I may have been watching the referer logs and seen someone click on the link to get here, I forget. I check out the sites that people are visiting us from sometimes. (Admin 19:04, 2 August 2007 (EDT))

French Wiki

I'm not sure if you watch it or not, but check the latest addition to HW:Languages. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:43, 3 August 2007 (EDT)

  • I do watch it, thanks. :) (Admin 15:29, 3 August 2007 (EDT))

I'm sure you keep an eye on the french version. I hope you think my work on it is good.
I know it's maybe too early to ask you that, but I think if I was an Admin of the french version, I'll work with more facilities. I could protect the site from vandalism, suppress some things, ...
Waiting your response, I go back to my "heroes work" :) Desperate July 14:11, 7 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Keep up the good work over there and you're likely to become an administrator over there. That's how people became administrators on the other language wikis. :) An administrator can't do a whole lot more than others to be honest and vandalism can be fixed by anyone. I'm not sure what you're saying could be "suppressed" but I'd imagine anyone could do that as well if necessary. The main things administrators can do is block people and protect pages and we try to avoid doing either unless absolutely necessary. (Admin 14:19, 7 August 2007 (EDT))
    • OK thanks for your response. So I go on... :) Desperate July 14:39, 7 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Hey, Desperate July. You've done some great work here so far and are helping to bring the French Heroes Wiki to life. I've made you an administrator here so you can handle any administrative tasks that might arise. I recommend checking out the english site's administrator's page here for some tips and suggestions on being an administrator at Heroes Wiki. We may handle some things differently than other wikis. For instance we try to avoid protecting pages or banning users unless absolutely necessary. Congrats and keep up the good work here! (Admin 11 août 2007 à 14:55 (EDT))
    • Thank you very much. I'll work a lot for the french version.
After reading the english site's administrator's page, I traduce it in french version.
I'll do my best to avoid vandalism.
Thanks again ! Desperate July 06:40, 12 August 2007 (EDT)

  • I've noticed that PNG icons always appears on black background. What can I do to modify black background to transparent one for this type of image ?

Thank you for your help, Desperate July 07:19, 12 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Looks like a transparency issue with creating the png thumbnails. I'll look into it. (Admin 10:58, 12 August 2007 (EDT))
  • At second glance, it appears to only happen with galleries, not thumbnails in general. Interesting. (Admin 11:00, 12 August 2007 (EDT))

Yeah that's kinda weird. DandD.png . Looks like the <gallery> code avoid the usage of transparency. I already noticed that but I didn't thought it was a problem since a gallery is used for pictures ( I mean, TV screenshots ) which shouldn't have a transparent background. -- Frenchflo.gif (talk) 04:55, 13 August 2007 (EDT)

  • The gallery was just an example but in french version (and maybe in others) png icons (not used with [[Image:xxxxx.png]]) appears on black background. Look at my user page here : the wonder woman's icon appears in black background... Desperate July 18:02, 13 August 2007 (EDT)

Hey Admin, I forgot to tell you; (you probably already know it) but Heroeswiki experienced some lag today. I think it was about 15:00 here so it must been something like 9am for you. During almost 30min or maybe 1hour (max) I wasn't able to join any pages of the entire site. Just in case you didn't already know... :)= -- Frenchflo.gif (talk) 15:51, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

  • I don't see any drops in traffic earlier today that would indicate any issues this morning. It may have been an issue closer to your end since it doesn't appear to have affected others accessing the wiki earlier. (Admin 16:00, 17 August 2007 (EDT))

Mediawiki plug in suggestion

Hey admin... back in march I suggested you might want to check out my mediawiki plug in Winter, which adds a lot of programming language functionality to Mediawiki pages. I just wanted to give you a heads up that I released a new version which has lots of new features as well as various configuration options to help prevent novice or malicious users from wreaking havoc with the plug in. For an example of something on the Heroes wiki that could use Winter, Here's the "did you know" box with 4 random factoids which change with each view. Anyways again just a suggestion :) --Frantik (Talk) 23:16, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Bionic Woman wiki

  • In preparation for the new Bionic Woman series coming out on NBC I've already setup a Bionic Woman Wiki at If anyone here becomes fascinated with this series once it airs and wants to contribute to the success of a fresh new wiki then feel free. I don't know if the series is going to be a success or not, but I wanted to be ready just in case. (Admin 18:47, 18 August 2007 (EDT))
    • I was wondering why my username was on a page for that wiki when I googled it. That makes sense.--Bob 19:46, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
      • Seems like some options aren't set on the Bionic Woman wiki...a friend Bigfoot lover replied about that on your discussion page on that site, but I thought I'd help him out by forwarding the message here just in case.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:23, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
        • Thanks for relaying it here. I hadn't installed some of the extensions over there yet that we use here to make life easier. I've installed them now, so things should be better. (Admin 01:34, 19 August 2007 (EDT))

Hey Admin, is digging a way to get a link upper in the google's research results ? -- Frenchflo.gif (talk) 17:19, 25 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Not exactly, no. It's a popular user-driven news aggregation site (at least here in the US) where news gets submitted and voted on. The idea is that if lots of people vote for a particular article then it's usually something of high interest and it gets placed closer to the top so more people can find it by default. (Admin 17:23, 25 August 2007 (EDT))
    • Oh okay that's cool. Because trying to get a link upper in the results isn't possible exept with money or hacking the bots etc... :) -- Frenchflo.gif (talk) 17:25, 25 August 2007 (EDT)
      • I wouldn't say that exactly. If you don't try to beat the system and instead provide a valuable resource you'll naturally do well in the rankings. Heroes Wiki does well in Google's rankings for a number of terms already in fact. (Admin 17:28, 25 August 2007 (EDT))

You've got mail! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:13, 28 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Replied. By the way, you don't need to ping me I get the email on my Blackberry so I see it quickly already.  :) (Admin 02:19, 28 August 2007 (EDT))

I noticed from the comment on my talk page you have some shirts left over. If you have one to spare, I'd like one. Thanks. --Bob 02:16, 30 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Just send me an email at with your shipping address and t-shirt size and I'll get one out to you. There's a size chart for reference here. (Admin 02:26, 30 August 2007 (EDT))
    • Got it. Thanks a bunch, looks good.--Bob 15:35, 22 September 2007 (EDT)
      • I Got mine to, in fact I am wearing it right now. Hey now I know your real name, its... Admin ;) -Lөvөl 03:54, 23 September 2007 (EDT)

Site Crash

HeroesWiki just recently crashed and came back up 5-10 minutes later. I sent you the error message a few minutes ago by e-mail. My e-mail's acting up tonight, so if you don't get it let me know and I'll send the error to you a different way.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:54, 1 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Saw it and I replied to your email. It was one of the rare instances of server problems. (Admin 00:55, 1 September 2007 (EDT))
    • Just got your reply. Thanks.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:58, 1 September 2007 (EDT)

Stats update

This was the first stats update over a new month using the new templates. There wasn't any difficulty, was there? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:34, 1 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Nope, though the graph images will need to be updated for the new month. (Admin 02:36, 1 September 2007 (EDT))
    • I can either leave up last month's for a few days (and mark them as such through the template) or upload blank graphs. Which would you prefer? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:40, 1 September 2007 (EDT)
      • Doesn't really matter too much to me. If it's not a lot of work I'd upload blank graphs since the current ones are misleading otherwise... but it doesn't really matter. (Admin 02:42, 1 September 2007 (EDT))

(I left this in your talk page in Portuguese Heroes Wiki)

  • Hello, I found Heroes Wiki today. But I'm a little sad, because I thought it was going to be like Lostpedia is. Full of members and fantastics admins. I'm translating something already. But, when I saw the recent pages, I saw that only my contribution was there, nobody is contributing here? It's sad. I would love to transform this wiki, the best site or something like it in Brazil. --Caio wgm 19:59, 3 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Hi, Caio wgm. Most of the work at Heroes Wiki has been over here on the English site. The Portuguese wiki was setup when a few people were interested in translating the articles here into Portuguese, but it's a lot of work and I think it's easy for people to lose interest. If you're interested in contributing there and helping to improve it that would be great. I'd love for the wiki to grow and I'm sure it'd be a big help to other Portuguese-speaking people. Lostpedia's Portuguese site probably took longer to grow than their English site did, so it's going to be the same way here. If you'd like to contribute over there I'm sure it could become very popular. (Admin 20:21, 3 September 2007 (EDT))
      • I wouldn't suggest sharing e-mail addresses w/o permission, but perhaps Admin can e-mail user Lezinhu @ the Portuguese Heroes Wiki to see if he/she is still interested in being an administrator at the Portuguese site and that Caio wgm is looking for some help? Just a thought... PS: You don't see the history in 'Special:recentchanges' cause it's been since like March since they have done any edits there.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:41, 3 September 2007 (EDT)
        • I need help. I need someone who knows the wiki plataform. To do categorys, templates, infoboxes. I had already said that I need help. --Caio wgm 19:39, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

Move Timing

Sorry about doing the move wrong, and stepping on toes, Hardvice, and me were all editing at about the same time. I think everything looks good now though. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/6/2007 12:55 (EST)

  • No problem. Now you know how to do it the next time. :) (Admin 12:56, 6 September 2007 (EDT))
    • OK, I don't want to mis-step on this thing again. I would like to request my userpage for PES to be deleted. Can you do it for me? Thanks. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/6/2007 12:58 (EST)
      • Ok, I've deleted the redirects for Paul E. Sylar in your userspace. (Admin 13:00, 6 September 2007 (EDT))

French Ad

  • I'm thinking of doing some advertising of the wiki targeted towards French visitors. One ad I use for the English site says: "Everything you want to know about NBC's hit show Heroes." Could you translate this into French or give me a good French equivalent so I can purchase advertising for French readers? If NBC isn't in France then feel free to leave that part out since it might not make sense to French viewers. (Admin 28 août 2007 à 13:43 (EDT))
    • Any suggestions? (Admin 10 septembre 2007 à 09:57 (EDT))
      • I'm really sorry, I forgot it....
First, I think we can't use "NBC" in this ad because french viewers don't know this channel. However, choose a channel will be very complicated because (sorry if i do a mistake) it's not a french version but a french-speaking person version. So, there are many channels : TF1 in France, RTL-TVI in Belgium, TSR1 in Switzerland, ...
If we put off the part with the channel : "Tout ce que vous avez toujours voulu savoir sur Heroes".
If you want to specify Heroes is a TV show : "Tout ce que vous avez toujours voulu savoir sur la série événement Heroes".
What do you think about it ? Desperate July 02:39, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
        • I like the second one where it mentions it's a television series, but it's a little too long for Google ads. Are there any words that can be omitted like "vous" and still make sense? I know in spanish for instance you can often leave off certain pronouns because they are implicit based on the verb conjugation. Not sure if it's the case here, too. (Admin 02:47, 11 September 2007 (EDT))

Seth images

  • Hi, John. I thought the videos you created to promote yourself were interesting, especially the Heroes one. Concerning the trading card images of yourself that you uploaded: Do you hold the copyright for those images? If not then we're going to need permission from the copyright holder in order for them to remain here. Thanks! (Admin 02:51, 14 September 2007 (EDT))
    • Hi, glad you like the shorts. I'm rather new to this, but I can say that the images are definitely mine, though they're not copywritten by me (they're basically headshots, I never saw the need). If the issue is the "Heroes" logo, I can just change the image so that it's just me, sans border. Let me know what works for you. --ISpeakDeadPeople 02:55, September 14, 2007
      • Essentially we just need to know if you created the images yourself or if they were created for you by a third party. If you created them yourself then you hold an implicit copyright over the image itself (albeit not the logo, but I don't think that's a major issue) and that should be good enough. Thanks, and excellent job on the Seth page. For someone who's "new to this" your first article was well formatted. :) (Admin 02:58, 14 September 2007 (EDT))
        • The two guys I credit under the picture on the Seth page are responsible for the image's creation. But as I paid them for their services (and as they are both friends of mine), the image belongs to me, undoubtedly. Let me know if you need more than that, I'm happy to assist. Oh, and thanks about the page. I'm no techie, but I just took a look at how the other pages were built and copied. Sylaresque? I dunno. --ISpeakDeadPeople 03:05, September 14, 2007

I was wanting to create my own skin for this site, and I found this site: . However, it has this quote: "This requires your site admin to have enabled this feature" Can you make this happen? Please? ---- Ohmyn0.jpgOhmyn0talk.jpg 15:03, 18 September 2007 (EDT)

  • The feature is already enabled. Check your user preferences (Special:Preferences#prefsection-2) to see a list of currently available skins. Just e-mail your finished skin to so Admin can consider adding it.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:29, 18 September 2007 (EDT)

Patrol shortcut on new pages

  • I meant to ask you this ages ago and forgot, but is it possible to enable the patrol shortcut (Alt+P or Alt+Shift+P on Firefox) for new pages, like this one? They're considered different than pages you patrol from a diff page, so the shortcut doesn't work. No big deal, just wondering if it's possible.--Hardvice (talk) 02:06, 21 September 2007 (EDT)
    • I'll look into it. I was thinking about it just recently in fact. (Admin 02:14, 21 September 2007 (EDT))
      • You continue to be Da Man.--Hardvice (talk) 02:21, 21 September 2007 (EDT)
        • "Da Man" has just finished identifying and tuning terribly inefficient reporting queries against the database at work and is getting some sleep now. It's pretty rewarding to take a bad query that's taking well over 20 minutes to run and then tweak it so that it runs in under 1 second. Never underestimate the power of adding even a single index to a table! (Admin 02:23, 21 September 2007 (EDT))
          • Indeed! That's awesome. That's like 1800 times faster...--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:29, 21 September 2007 (EDT)

Displaying foreign characters

  • Something else for you to look into when you're comparing the server options (or maybe you already know?)... When using Google translate, Bionic Wiki is showing most foreign characters correctly, but not Heroes Wiki. I think there's a server option you need to set for it to view correctly, but I'm not sure which it is. Also, the top frame that says "Automatically translated" from English disappears upon loading it in Heroes Wiki (I'm not sure if that was desired or not).--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:39, 22 September 2007 (EDT)
    • The "automatically translated" frame disappearing at the top is expected. Can you give me an example of where the foreign characters aren't being displayed properly? Using Google Translate there shouldn't really be anything specific to the site that would affect the display of foreign characters. If you can give me a link that doesn't appear to be working for you that'd be helpful. Also perhaps a screenshot of what you're seeing specifically. (Admin 01:17, 22 September 2007 (EDT))
      • Ok, screenshots have been sent by e-mail. It is a weird bug, imho.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:05, 22 September 2007 (EDT)

  • You've done some great work on the translations for the Dutch Heroes Wiki. Are you interested in being an administrator over there? (Admin 10:26, 22 September 2007 (EDT))
    • Thanks you very much for the offer. I would like it to be an admin over there, but I'm not too sure if it's useful. As I sad on the Heroes_Wiki_talk:Languages-page, The Dutch Wiki is very, very quiet. But other than than, I'd like to contribute in any way I can! --Martijnvs 04:11, 23 September 2007 (EDT)
  • Is the series airing over where you are right now? If so, where are they at? Are they in the middle of season one somewhere or has season one finished airing? (Admin 05:56, 23 September 2007 (EDT))
    • It's being aired here. Last week was episode 14, so it's not that people still have to get used to it. A lot of people have watched it when it aired in the US, the others that are watching it on Dutch tv find their info elsewhere, since the english wiki has too much spoilers in it, and the Dutch wiki is far from complete (and has some spoilers here and there). --Martijnvs 07:25, 23 September 2007 (EDT)

Daniel Linderman

  • Now come on, you know I do appropriate work on this site! Watch the Takezo Kensei video part 5 and see if you see anything relating to Daniel Linderman. Awesome work on the wiki, always. Thanks(Heroes360 00:05, 25 September 2007 (EDT))
    • Ah, I just watched the video. very interesting. Thanks! :) (Admin 00:38, 25 September 2007 (EDT))

Four Months Later synopsis

  • Are you planning on doing one? If not, I might type one up in the morning. I'm not comfortable making FML the AOTW with the current synopsis. It's just not detailed enough and has a lot of style problems which need to be addressed. Lemme know either way.--Hardvice (talk) 03:57, 25 September 2007 (EDT)
    • I wouldn't get a chance to do one until tonite at the earliest. If you feel like writing one, go for it. (Admin 08:18, 25 September 2007 (EDT))

Problem with Wiki-Function in german wiki

  • In a template i copied from this wiki to the german one the function "BASEPAGENAME" is used. in Sandbox on the german Wiki you can see, that it does not work as it is supposed to. Maybe i am wrong but shouldn't it return "Sandbox" instead of "Sandbox/Test"? Or am i getting something wrong here? Waldmeister 06:26, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Very odd. It's working on the discussion page, but not the regular page. I was wondering if it was a problem with the namespace, but it's not working on a template page, either, which has an established namespace. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:42, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
      • By default most namespaces don't support true subpages. Which means you can name a page Foo/Bar, but you won't be creating a subpage of Foo named Bar, you'll just be creating an article named "Foo/Bar". In order for it to treat it as a subpage I need to define that particular namespace as supporting subpages. I've gone ahead and added subpage support to the main namespace over there, check it out now. (Admin 08:00, 27 September 2007 (EDT))
        • Seems to be working now. Thx alot :) Waldmeister 08:12, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

Prison Break Wiki

  • I was wondering why there is no wiki for Prison Break cause it's quite a good show and certainly there is alot of info about it that could be put into a wiki. Or is there even one but i just can't find it? Waldmeister 15:50, 27 September 2007 (EDT)
    • Wikipedia has information on Prison_Break plus there's a Wikia wiki about it as well. (Admin 15:53, 27 September 2007 (EDT))
      • Ok, thx alot. I really did not find the wiki..not even by using google search... Waldmeister 15:55, 27 September 2007 (EDT)

"sister wiki"

So what exactly does that mean? Do you run that one as well? Or is it just partnered with us? --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 11:13, 29 September 2007 (EDT)

  • Yeah, I set up Bionic Wiki as well. I'm Admin over there as well. (Admin 12:29, 29 September 2007 (EDT))

Rounded Corners

  • So I'm browsing the site in IE right now (long story) and I'm shocked how wrong it looks without rounded corners. Is it safe to assume there's still no rounded corner support in IE without using corner images? That's the suckage. Incidentally, I just had a good laugh re: your Oliver Grigsby/Eleanor Rigby problem--I've caught myself doing the same, though certainly not every time I hear Oliver's name.--Hardvice (talk) 20:23, 29 September 2007 (EDT)
    • I assume it's a recent version of IE, right? (Admin 20:31, 29 September 2007 (EDT))
      • IE 7 something on (ugh) Windows Vista Enterprise.--Hardvice (talk) 20:34, 29 September 2007 (EDT)
        • I don't know a whole lot of HTML beyond the basics. It goes back to being asthetically challenged. The way I see it, if I can't play an instrument why learn to read sheet music? :) There are probably some tricks we could use to get it to work. Maybe some tweaked CSS or JavaScript, but I don't know how offhand. (Admin 20:42, 29 September 2007 (EDT))
          • I'm ok with HTML but I suck at JavaScript, so it's taken me a while to get the hang of what it's doing, but I've been poking around on the other site. I left some observations on the Nifty talk page (several of which are probably incorrect--we're probably more limited by my abilities than by the script itself). It's definitely worth considering, but good gravy is it going to be a big job.--Hardvice (talk) 21:22, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
            • Are you saying the script writing would be a big job, or the changes to the wiki would be a big job? And where can I get some of said gravy? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:44, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
              • Well, the scripts themselves are already there. We just need to modify mediawiki:common.js (I think once per rounded element, unfortunately) and mediawiki:common.css. But the Wiki-side changes will probably be very involved. There's some stuff we do inside templates that doesn't behave nicely with the scripts, so we might have to redo some of the templates. And the secret to good gravy? An 18/10 stainless steel pan--not a nonstick. You get better fond and thus tastier gravy.--Hardvice (talk) 22:07, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
