We don't really use that term around here, we usually say "evolved human", but "special" and "one of them" are also good in the proper context. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:06, 4 November 2009 (EST)

  • We never had issues with repeating the term "evolved humans". But like I said, in the proper context, specials and "one of them" are also used, we mainly revolve around those three. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:24, 4 November 2009 (EST)

That theory has been killed, see User talk:Altes#Re:Illusion. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:16, 4 November 2009 (EST)

  • The link above, all the explanation on why that theory can't be right is there, and the references on canon things we know as well. The two notes I mentioned there can be found at Illusion, near the bottom of the page. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:21, 4 November 2009 (EST)

Re:What's Going On? Part II

Which ones? The one theory on either of those I remember removing was one about applying pressure, cause Doyle closed a door with his ability. I removed it because according to the current definition of it in the ability page, his ability already includes the manipulation of objects, at least in the functions they're supposed to have. Was that theory yours? Which one on super speed? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:00, 4 November 2009 (EST)

  • Doyle being able to manipulate objects kills nervous system theory, objects don't have nervous systems. I'll have to look up on the manipulating space time though. Hang on just a bit. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:19, 4 November 2009 (EST)
    • Found it. The theory you wrote, which I removed was a rereading of a previous theory, which already had been killed, the previous one being killed by Altes. When Daphne took Ando and Matt to NY to search for Isaac's last comic, he mentioned her ability was too wind. If she manipulated space and time, that wouldn't happen, there are no wind effects or references to Hiro, neither when he teleports nor when he time travels. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:23, 4 November 2009 (EST)
      • There's also ability extension. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:49, 5 November 2009 (EST)
        • What I meant it was both ability immunity and extension. I'm not a big fan of theories, I just go through them to make sure there are no crazy theories, like Mr. Muggles and Waffles as it used to be, and to make sure that the theories are solid. I suggest taking this up with Altes as well. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:59, 5 November 2009 (EST)

Hey there. Take a look at this pic, it explains why super speed can't be slowing time down. Green.gif AltesUTC CH

  • Don't get mad like that. Empath is just strict. If you believe you have weighty arguments, feel free to post any theory you want, there's indeed no rule against resurrecting killed theories if you can prove them. Green.gif AltesUTC CH
    • I understood your argument, but I believed it could be better worded. I understood the example, but it was unnecessarily complex. Your idea is still there, just in different words. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:31, 8 November 2009 (EST)

Hi D and D

Dont forget to place your sinature at a talk page, this can help you with that Help:Signatures.--Yoshi n1 16:22, 5 November 2009 (EST)

Please remember to add your signature at the end of every comment you make, just type --~~~~, or press the signature button, thanks - Jenx222 | U / T / C 19:02, 5 November 2009 (EST)

Just a note, anything that gets written on here will be heavily scrutinized so some people will look into theories to see if they are viable. If you want to keep your theories on here try putting them in your user space (e.g User:D and d 123/Theories), they wont get deleted from your own user space, just a suggestion - Jenx222 | U / T / C 19:11, 5 November 2009 (EST)

  • Oh, when you make a new theory page, be sure to add the entry in the corresponding portal (Ability, evolved human, normal people...), the links to them are in the bottom of each theory articles. Drop by if you have any doubts on the formatting of those pages, they can be rather overwhelming when you're not used to them. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:02, 14 November 2009 (EST)
    • You're not adding entries to the theory portals. Please do so. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:04, 23 November 2009 (EST)
      • Doesn't Sylar using intuitive aptitude to fix clocks confirms the "IA can be used to improve systems" theory? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 14:33, 28 November 2009 (EST)
        • Oh, I see. Well, I'll try making it easier to understand in the theory page then. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 12:07, 29 November 2009 (EST)
          • Oh, and please, when making a new theory, add an entry for it in the appropriate portal page. Oh, and please avoid using questions as notes in theory pages, if possible, make it into a simple sentence, and avoid first person, using third person makes things more objective. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:50, 29 November 2009 (EST)
            • Selective deafness much? Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:58, 18 December 2009 (EST)
              • Well, there is a way for you to tell if someone left you a message. Just above a page name, there are links, such as the discussion link, edit, history and move. There is also a watch link. When you watch a page, any changes made to that page is gets bolded in the recent changes page, and you get an orange message on top of every page you visit in the wiki until you go to the page you watch that has been edited, it's quite simple. Also, you can find links to the portals in the bottom of the theory pages, you know the "Theories about Evolved Humans", "Theories about Abilities" and the like. To add entry... well, that takes a bit more of explaining, but mostly all you have to do is copy the code in the page and change image, links and text. Depending on how many entries there are, you'll have to modify the table as well. Do like this, go to Theories about Abilities portal the way I told you to and select history. Compare some revisions to see if you understand how things are done, and next time you add a theory page, try adding the entry, using the preview feature is quite useful when you do that. I'll take a look afterwards and tell you how you did. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:01, 20 December 2009 (EST)

If people had to ask permission to change what other people wrote, the entire wiki system wouldn't work. As far as theories go, most of my recent edits on what other people write (such as questions) are to implement a set of guidelines proposed by Ryan, which you can find at Heroes Wiki talk:Patrollers#Theory pages. Other than that, my only posts to theories are arguments to support or refute what other people have written, I hardly ever add a theory myself, I did add one to Compass theories recently, but other than that, I don't remember the last time I added a new theory anywhere. What I do is tweak and reply. I'm a patroller, I'm supposed to do quality check on other's posts, I just happen to be one who patrols more the theory pages, mostly because other patrollers don't like really like them much. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 10:00, 13 November 2009 (EST)

  • No problem, the fact that you check, investigate who changes your edits and is willing to discuss those changes shows nothing more more and nothing less that you're committed to the info you put forward. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:21, 13 November 2009 (EST)

Saw your newest question to Intuitive empath. All you have to do (And this is for any article) is put {{theories}}. And that's it. :) --Catalyst · Talk · HL 09:23, 14 November 2009 (EST)

Ah. I thought you meant that making a gun gesture doesn't make a noise, ability or not. I'm not entirely sure whether his ability makes any noticeable sound but there are other explanations, though none come to mind :p.--PJDEP 18:25, 29 November 2009 (EST)

Sylar vs. Samuel

It is a debatable point, however I still feel as if the scales are tipped in Samuel favor. Sylar may target all evolved humans, but the vast majority of them have either been inexperienced with their power (Brian Davis), had a non-offensive power (Dale Something or other) or had an obvious weak point (Jesse). Elle had none of these, and kicked Sylar's ass when he attempted to "sylarize" her. True, he killed her eventually, but to be fair she had just been shot. I'm not saying he isn't powerful, I'm just saying his abilities are incredibly overstated.

As far Samuel, it is unknown as to how much experience he has, given that his history is still partially unknown. However, I feel like the writers may deliberately make him stronger the Sylar, to get away from the "all sylar, all the time" mentality. Samuel as a threat against the world is considerably diminished if Sylar can come in and easily steal his power. I'd be extremely disappointed if his sole purpose was to be a mere vessel for Sylar's power.

In the end, it is a highly debatable point with no clear answer. The reason I've been postulating the idea so much however, is that I'm sick of everyone considering Sylar as this unstoppable force that can do anything he wants to. It's simply not true, but as frustrated as I may get I don't want to give the impression that I shun everyone's opinion :).--PJDEP 18:49, 29 November 2009 (EST)

Re:Help with moving

If it is simply taking the theories from one page and taking them to another page, cutting and pasting is all it takes. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:05, 30 November 2009 (EST)

Claire called him René a while back, in the episode she first meets Samuel, since then other characters have called him by his name, including Peter and Angela. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:35, 5 December 2009 (EST)

It was anticlimactic, I'll give you that, but since they're using it, so should we. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:23, 6 December 2009 (EST)

Just a random question: Have you thought about making a userpage?--Boom D  9,992  15:44, 6 December 2009 (EST)

  • When you click on my name, Catalyst, and you see your personal page, that is a user page.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 15:49, 6 December 2009 (EST)
    • You dont have to make it that "big" if you dont want to, just some things about yourself or what you like about heroes.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 15:58, 6 December 2009 (EST)

As IE brought up above, you need to add to the Theory Portal every time you make a new theory page. I can understand if you aren't exactly sure of how to do it, but in that case you need to make it known in the off chance that nobody catches your edit. I can't speak for the entire wiki but I'm fairly certain most of them will be willing to help you if you need assistance, and I know that I am definitely willing ;)--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 15:52, 29 April 2010 (EDT)

Knox theories

Hey D and d 123, those theories you have been removing from Theory:Enhanced strength and add to Theory:Knox need to stay where they are. I can see what you mean about them being about Knox and not the ability, but actually since they are saying "Knox's ability" they are about the ability, snce his ability is Enhanced strength. Please stop removing them and adding them to Knox's theory page. --Leckie -- Talk 15:34, 30 April 2010 (EDT)

  • While I believe that Knox's ability shouldn't be named as Enhanced strength, since it is entirely different to Niki, Scott and Mohinder's versions of the power, the writers have chosen to name it so, providing it in a canon source so it is technically named correctly. Also, we don't know if any of the others with this ability could utilize fear in order to use their ability since it wasn't shown. So evenso we believe that it shouldn't be named as such, the name for his ability is canon so it's theories need to stay in their proper place. --Leckie -- Talk 15:17, 3 May 2010 (EDT)

Knox's ability was not enhanced strength; it differs from enhanced strength in several vital ways. Enhanced strength is a passive ability; Knox's ability was active. Enhanced strength is always available; Knox could not use his ability without a nearby source of fear to utilize. Arguing that Knox possessed the same ability as Niki Sanders and Mohinder Suresh is like claiming that Ted Sprague actually had pyrokinesis just because his power could set objects on fire. Embracing a foolish choice made by the writers just because it was the writers that made it is completely illogical. It limits our ability to theorize, makes the site less intuitive to navigate, and sparks ridiculous arguments. --D and d 123 18:01 3 May 2010

  • His ability is enhanced strength, end of story. If the writers make a decision we do not second guess them, we merely go with what we're told. All we do here is chronicle the series, not make our own interpretations of it.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 15:15, 3 May 2010 (EDT)
    • What are theories if not interpretations of the show? By devising theories, introducing them, and debating them, we gain insight into new facets of the TV series we know and love. Without this element of free thinking, would be a rather boring place.
      • You're free to make a theory, but the categorization of said theories are a totally different issue.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 16:39, 3 May 2010 (EDT)

It is often said that once an artist's work has been placed in the public forum, it is no longer completely his: it now belongs in part to all the people who interact with it. --D and d 123 16:24, 3 May 2010 (EDT)

  • While that is a true statement, that simply isn't how it works *here*. (I've placed this on your talk page in order to be polite to Leckie; we shouldn't clutter his space up any further.)--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 16:37, 3 May 2010 (EDT)
    • While it is true that art does become partly owned by those who see it, that kind of thing happens in the forums. If the Wiki was an office, what you're talking about is stuff that happens at the water cooler and in the canteen, where as on the main pages, it's the workplace where it is just cold hard facts. --mc_hammark 16:44, 3 May 2010 (EDT)

Theories about abilites

Hey D and d, I've added the Mass manipulation theory page for you. :) --Leckie -- Talk 14:47, 14 May 2010 (EDT)
