Welcome to Heroes Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you are new to Heroes, you might want to start at the New User Portal.
  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style.
  • If you're ready to get started, Template:Todo lists some ways you can help out.
  • Of course, if you have your own idea for a new article, that's great, too.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add --~~~~ or click the signature button.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to the end of your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for an administrator.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any fanmade content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Darnell/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to Heroes Wiki!

Image Sourcing and Categorizing

Hey Darnell, just a heads up. Every time you upload an image to the site you need to categorize it and provide a source for where the image came from. For example, this image should have been in the user images category ([[Category: User Images]]). Also, the source would be "Made by Darnell", as I'm assuming that you are the source of this particular image ;). I've taken care of that for you this time, so no big deal. Just remember in the future to source and categorize all images.

If you need any further explanation feel free to contact me on my talk page :)--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 17:28, 29 April 2010 (EDT)

  • Not an issue at all, don't worry. And from what I've seen so far you seemed quite motivated to contribute, which is always a good sign ;D--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 21:09, 29 April 2010 (EDT)
    • Oh shoots, I didn't realize I could respond in my own page XD. Cool though. I have story and something to add to Sylvia ;). Is establishing background for her this early okay?--Darnell 21:28, 29 April 2010 (EDT)
      • When you say background, do you mean something you came up with on your own or something you took directly from the graphic novel?--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 21:29, 29 April 2010 (EDT)
        • Well, I was thinking of throwing out her being latin and having been stationed there by the KGB which links into how she ended up going on the rampage. Not sure if thats okay, I'll clip as need be.--Darnell 21:36, 29 April 2010 (EDT)
          • If it's non-canon content, you'd need to put it on a theory page or write it up as a fan fic.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 21:58, 29 April 2010 (EDT)
            • Ah, How can I post a fanfic or start a theory page?--Darnell 22:21, 29 April 2010 (EDT)

To make a theory page all you need to do is type "Theory:Sylvia" into the searchbox, and the words "There is no page titled "Theory:Sylvia". You can create this page." will pop up. Click on create this page and you'll be taken to another screen which will have an edit box and a grey rectangle above it that says "create a theory page". If you click on that, it'll input the template and general directions for you and all you have to fill out are the items listed in caps. There are some other more complicated things that have to be done, but I can take care of that for you. I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but how theories generally go here is the actual theory will be posted in one column ("Sylvia is Latin"), a citation will be in the second column but that's often listed as "none", and the evidence will be in the last column, where you support your claim with whatever evidence you have ("Sylvia has a darker complexion"). In time, other people will come along and either negate or further support you theory, and it can turn into a debate of sorts.

As for posting a fan fic, all you have to do is create an article prefaced with "User:Darnelll/", with whatever you want the article called coming after the slash. This keeps it out of the mainspace area. Then you're pretty much free to do whatever you wish. There's a pretty active fan fiction community here, and the portal can be found here. You can look at other fan fics to try and get an idea of what you want yours to look like. I don't really participate in that, so if you need further assistance in that department you may want to contact one of the many fan fic writers there.

Heh, sorry, that was quite the post :P. I hope this answers your question, and if you need any more help don't hesistate to ask.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 22:37, 29 April 2010 (EDT)

  • Hey no problem :). I really appreciate the help. Tomorrow I'm pretty free so hopeful I will be able to actually do something ;).--Darnell 03:51, 30 April 2010 (EDT)
