Thanks!

Hi, thanks for fixing the missing categories in the flight images that I uploaded. Looks like the one I was missing was Category:Powers Images, I'll be sure to add that to any powers images I upload again. --Radicell 22:24, 28 February 2009 (EST)

  • Oh, no worries. You got the more important ones. As always, you're doing a great job! Your edits are very easy to patrol. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:03, 1 March 2009 (EST)

A Spoiler-ish matter

NOTE: I have refrained from using spoilers in this message.

Hi! I'm pretty much new here but have been a follower of the site for some time. I've seen on several occasions now that the ad at the top of the page for Sprint, which is giving away a spoiler for 3x18. I myself like the odd spoiler here and there, but seeing as it's on every page (even those not with the Spoiler: prefix) I thought that kind of contradicts the spoiler policy. In the interest of those not wanting to be spoiler-ed I wondered if there's anything that could be done. I'd hate to see the site get avoided for fear of giving away spoilers! Thanks, SylarMonroe 14:23, 1 March 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks for the heads up. I've seen it too, but I didn't think it was anything too big to worry about. In the end, there's not much we can do change the ads--part of our deal with NBC is that an ad banner play at the top of every page. I'm pretty sure Admin watches my talk page. If he deems it too spoilery, he'll contact NBC and have them change it. Thanks so much, SylarMonroe! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:26, 1 March 2009 (EST)

Blue

Images make everything happy. But ok, I'll make it more seriously. Mateussf 16:32, 1 March 2009 (EST)

  • I don't see a need for a few arbitrary images on a disambig page that have blue in the images. Let's move this discussion to a public forum. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:06, 1 March 2009 (EST)

So...theories

I come to you with a proposition, Ryan. Let's rewind a few years ago. Lost is about to air its season three finale. A fan comes into Lostpedia and posts a synopsis for the episode in the spoiler section. Spoilers get completely eradicated from Lostpedia. Back to the here and now, the theories on Heroes Wiki get stupider by the minute. Every time someone dies on the show, there's a "____ isn't dead" theory. Things like waffles, Mr. Muggles, Barbara, Harry Fletcher, etc. are unacceptable and must be put to an end...now. I don't even recall seeing a solid or plausible theory on this site. My proposition: to put an end to this dumb-founded dipshittery we see every day on the theory pages, the theories have to go. They're just a catalyst for silliness and sometimes vandalism, things that are not to be tolerated on this wiki any longer. Think about it.--Citizen 20:47, 1 March 2009 (EST)

  • Fair warning: This is a long post. Like War and Peace long. Skip to the last paragraph if you don't want my to read my rambling stream of consciousness. :)

One thing I never want to do is to go the route Lostpedia took and completely eliminate spoilers and theories from the entire site, just in an effort to curb such content. I quote from Lostpedia's front page (their front page!): "Spoilers are no longer permitted on the wiki. Any spoilers on the wiki regarding Seasons 5 and 6 will result in an instant and permanent ban." Wow. That would scare the bejeezus out of me as a newcomer so much that I wouldn't create an account. As a casual editor over there, I'm scared that I might accidentally post something that doesn't belong, and then get banned permanently with no individualized warning. And I'm saying that as a fairly intelligent man in my 30s. Then I think of all the younger people (and I mean teenagers and such) who might miss that warning, or might not understand, or might forget, or whatever, and boom you have people being banned left and right (more than 20 this week!). That's very much not the kind of community we're trying to build here.

Now I know very well how stupid some (okay, most) of the theories are here and how people try to sneak spoilers in on nonspoiler pages. Part of the payment for building a community is that we expect everybody to be on different learning curves, and we spend a lot of time giving individualized instruction to spare those who might actually be trying their best. Maybe Admin has reasons of his own, but mine go right back to my teaching. There's no way I'll ever be able to teach one lesson to my class and expect every single person there to "get" it. I have to try a multitude of ways and try to reach a multitude of individuals, and it takes a buttload of effort on my part. But that's the way it's done. Teachers who try to "teach to the middle" or who expect everyone to fall in line perfectly have the lowest success rates.

So enough mumbo jumbo about teaching. Here at the wiki, we have a lot of stupidity that creeps into pages that don't get patrolled as often as others--namely the theory pages. (Spoiler pages, too, but mostly the theory sections of those pages.) It's rare that you'll see me visit those pages. In fact, I visited one today, and I think there was only one theory there, and it wasn't a bad one. But it was riddled with grammar mistakes, so I started editing. I could have gone on much longer and taken my editing to other theory pages, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that. Ugh. I generally stay away from those pages.

Yes, all pages at Heroes Wiki are supposed to be professional in nature. But some have gone so far to the other side that trying to bring them back to a level of professionalism seems like an insurmountable task. I know. My suggestion is either 1, stay away from those pages, or 2, work with one individual at a time to bring up the level of professionalism.

Now all that jazz having been said, there are a bunch of yahoos and idiots who will still be jerks and put stupid stuff on some pages. I've seen about a million theories about the drug dealer and Harry Fletcher. I don't have the energy--or desire--to go through the history and find out who did it, and then to give the person a proper warning. So it continues. (If anybody knows who the db is, please give them a kind but firm warning--and if they give you trouble, let me know.)

I know this is a superlong rant, but my point is to kind of give you the place where I'm coming from. I don't think getting rid of the theory pages altogether is a good idea, as it's a hook for a lot of people (myself included) to join the site. And just because there are a few jerks who hog the pages with inane theories doesn't mean we should cut off our nose to spite our face, so to speak. The theory pages themselves aren't innately stupid. It's the content that can be, and so it's the content that needs to be removed or modified. This should probably be discussed at the community portal, but maybe we need stricter guidelines for the theory pages (see Help:Theories). Maybe we need to dedicate one or two patrollers to just working on the theory pages. Maybe somebody has another idea... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:11, 1 March 2009 (EST)

    • Just for the record, Steelymcbeam has added quite a few drug dealer/HF theories. -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- Psilaq Remake 21:40, 1 March 2009 (EST)
      • Thanks. Where were the silly theories added? And has anybody ever said anything directly to Steelymcbeam about it besides this warning about a spoiler page? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:51, 1 March 2009 (EST)
        • Wow honestly didn't realise there was such a problem. As of now I'm done with any "silly" theories and whatnot, and to try and make it up to everyone am going to go and clean up the Drug dealer's theory page and check any of the spoiler pages for drug dealer theories and the like. I'm not sure if an apology is due but I am done with these stupid jokes that much is certain.--Steelymcbeam 23:35, 1 March 2009 (EST)
          • Thanks, Steelymcbeam. I certainly wasn't directing my long message at you, but at the general stupidity of many theories. It's dangerous ground we walk on when we say "any valid theory is admissible." Some people feel that gives them free reign to be as outlandish as possible. Thanks for cleaning up the pages. It's very much appreciated. :) Let me know if you need any help with anything. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:10, 2 March 2009 (EST)

New Main Page ideas

I think it would be good to have links to both the latest Behind the Eclipses and Beaming Beemans on the Main Page. They are both great resources for information about the Heroes-verse and it would make it easier to know when the new ones are up. It would also make it easier than going to the links section and it would help users understand where some of the new/unexplained information is coming from (eg. how Matt has precognition, why Sylar held onto telekinesis when he lost his other absorbed abilities). --Elemental Manipulator [ U | T | C ] - When in doubt, ask BTE 04:51, 2 March 2009 (EST)

  • I concur. This is a great idea, and it would encourage newcomers to the show/wiki to read those interviews. I'd rather go to the main page for these links than to the interview page. As to where they would go, I think it's time to take away the "Did you know..." section. It hasn't been updated in such a long time. This would make up more space in the interview blurb for official blog entries and Q&A's.--Citizen 05:47, 2 March 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah, I don't think adding those links on the main page is a bad idea. They're both wonderful resources, and I think publicizing them a bit more is a good idea. I'm not in favor of removing the DYK section. If it hasn't been updated in awhile, the remedy is not to remove it, but to update it. I added the links to the news section where there are other "see also" links and other external links. BTE and Beeman aren't really news per se, but they seem to fit well in that section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:26, 2 March 2009 (EST)

Quotes

I am going to risk sounding presumptuous here but nobody has checked the communitiy portal disscussion about the quotes expect you and I for a while. Anyway, please can I have permission to make the qotes pages? Thank you, sorry about this but if you have any Q's could you ask on my talk page. Thanks (See, only 1 sorry this time!) --IronyUTC CH 11:24, 2 March 2009 (EST)

  • Part of consensus is not only that everybody agrees, but that nobody disagrees. Not commenting on a page that should pretty much be watched by everybody and that has been bumped a sufficient number of times--well that to me implies that nobody's opposed, otherwise they would have commented. I think you're fine to go ahead with the proposal. If you need help, let me know. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:04, 2 March 2009 (EST)
    • I have made a draft for sylar season 1 here, it is just a test of formatting (not categories and such), I prefer the top layout more, but if it is inkeeping it should be the bottom one. --IronyUTC CH 15:52, 2 March 2009 (EST)
      • Sorry, just a note, but there are much more but I wanted your opinion on formatting (plus if the name is okay) first :) --IronyUTC CH 15:57, 2 March 2009 (EST)
  • Season One down, Two and Three to go. Just a note, some of these pages might seem obsilete (in a minute see Claire's for season two) but when created hopefully more people will add. Thanks --IronyUTC CH 10:56, 7 March 2009 (EST)
    • The pages look really good. A few notes:
      1. Each page needs an introductory line. Something like "The following memorable quotes were said by Sylar in Season One." should be fine.
      2. The names of the pages seem odd to me. Should it be "Sylar/Memorable quotes from Season One"? Or "Sylar/Season One memorable quotes"? And really, we might want to think about listing all of Sylar's most memorable quotes--regardless of season--on one page. Then we could just call the page "List of memorable quotes from Sylar" or something a little more straightforward like that.
      3. There doesn't need to be a heading on each page that says "Sylar". In fact, if we put all the quotes from one person (regardless of season) on one page, then the headings should be "Season One", "Season Two", etc.
      4. Template:MQ will need to be updated once the titles of the pages are decided.
    • Great job! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:56, 7 March 2009 (EST)
      • Thanks :). Now I know what it is like to be a patroller, I do't know how you guys cope with the edits!
      1. I will do the introductory lines tommorrow, really goo I deal, me being stupid really.
      2. I think having them all on one page is a good idea, but some page (I'm thinking Sylar, who has amazing quotes every episode) will get excessively long. But I think this is a good idea, if we do merge them it is easy to name, just Sylar/Memorable Quotes.
      3. To bo honest, there wasn't supposed to be a heading, I was bulk coping and some of them might have got caught up, my bad.
      4. I will do Templat MQ as well :)
  • Thanks, hope I helped :) --IronyUTC CH 16:44, 7 March 2009 (EST)
    • Eh, we deal with them one at a time. It's the old "How do you eat an elephant?" adage. I don't think it matters too much if Sylar's quote page gets too long. We have pages that are much longer with little or no consequence. If you need help with template:MQ, let me know. It means that there will need to be some #ifexist: code added since the template is used on pages that don't have--and shouldn't have--MQ subpages. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:42, 7 March 2009 (EST)
      • O.k, sorry, are we merging the pages then? I will do it but I don't want to if you don't want me to (if that made any sense) :) --IronyUTC CH 18:09, 7 March 2009 (EST)
        • Yeah, I think it's probably a good idea to merge quotes from separate seasons, and then separate the seasons with heading, but on one page. Then the title of the articles should probably change to be something simpler. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:15, 7 March 2009 (EST)
      • Um, so is Sylar/Memorable quotes O.K then? --IronyUTC CH 12:16, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Thanks, I'm going to do that now. --IronyUTC CH 16:03, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Hey, I've completed tasks 1,2 and 3. You will probably have to do 4, I'm rubbish at coding. Is everything O.K with them? --IronyUTC CH 17:10, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
      • They look great. There needs to be a bolded word in the lead sentence, though. It should look like this: "The following memorable quotes were said by Sylar." I think I might actually make a template for the header to make it easier. I'll also update template:MQ. Thanks for all your work, Irony! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:40, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Okay, use MQ header. See here for an example. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:54, 8 March 2009 (EDT)
          • Okay, I hope everything is working Okay. :)--IronyUTC CH 15:49, 9 March 2009 (EDT)
            • Everything seems to be working well and looks good. The lead sentence for all the MQ subpages needs to be changed. I made a template that can be used: it's called MQ header. See how I edited this page so to see how it works. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:34, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

yamagato

if its not asking too much could u sent a e-mail to the writers to ask what's wrong with yamagato--Manwithnoname 12:17, 2 March 2009 (EST)

  • Is it not working? I'll check into it when I get home. If it's not up, I'll email Joe Tolerico. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:05, 2 March 2009 (EST)
    • actually i was asking about when they update, i mean when they check our e-mails or something, u know i sent an e-mail before about a hero i though it would deserve a reference, and i was hoping he could appear in the repository, sorry for the confusion --Manwithnoname 13:15, 3 March 2009 (EST)
      • Oh, I see. That makes more sense--I was wondering, because yamagatofellowship.org seems to be working just fine. I've emailed Joe in the past about some suggestions (I think Skanderbeg would be a great addition) but I've never seen it updated. I don't know if it ever will be. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:07, 3 March 2009 (EST)

Get me educated!

ok, so i made the Exposed episode checklist, but i just copied and pasted from the last episode and altered everything to fit with this week. Is there an easier way, or is that the way its been done since the beginning of time?--Anthony Gooch 23:45, 2 March 2009 (EST)

  • You have to use the code subst: in the template. That substitutes everything in the template right onto the page. What you would type is . Try playing in the sandbox first, and then if you have more questions, fire 'em away at me! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:50, 2 March 2009 (EST)

Target Daphne

Good call on the pseudo Daphne not being Daphne...the real Daphne showed up in tonights Target gallery. I will work on updating pics and stuff tomorrow on the gallery. Whew, they completely redid the board this epi also, but they didn't give enough clear and discernable frames of it to re-do the template...I know there were around 4 or so 'new' targets added this episode also...not sure where to put them in the template. Don't think I can re-organize it yet either; not enough clear caps of the entire thing. And ideas on how to approach updating it, since they pretty much re-mixed the entire board?--HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 03/3/2009 00:17 (EST)

  • Judging from last week's BTE and Nathan moving pics around this week (and moving pics from ep to ep), we probably shouldn't try to make the template look like the board. It's a board that keeps changing, and it's probably more trouble than it's worth. How about just a gallery? Or how about just keeping the images in the template nice and small as they are, but putting them in alphabetical order, with all the unknowns at the end? That might be the best idea... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:20, 3 March 2009 (EST)

Joshua Rush interview

For the sitenotice, you put that the submission deadline is Thursday, March 31st. That's a Tuesday, not a Thursday.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:17, 3 March 2009 (EST)

    • I saw that too. Ryan didn't get the days to correspond to the right numbers on his interview's talk page either, so I thought I'd ask here first just in case.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:32, 3 March 2009 (EST)
      • Thanks, guys. The interview is going to be on Thursday. I sent Josh some "sample" questions already, but I'll take more until Thursday. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:40, 3 March 2009 (EST)

Building 26

Hey it may just be me but when i rewatched cold wars i noticed that a picture of knox is on the wall. I thought that it was irrelevant for nathan to put it up if he saw knox die before him what do you think ? Gabriel Bishop 15:55, 4 March 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • Well, Nathan couldn't admit that he was working with Tracy and letting her kill some people so he probably didn't say nothing about Knox dying. That's just my own opinion.--Alen (talk) 16:28, 4 March 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah, it's hard to say. Nathan's also not the only one who's working on the wall. I think there's another discussion about this exact topic somewhere else, but I'm not sure where... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:10, 4 March 2009 (EST)

IceGhost78 we need a page for the board

Skyeatsout

yeah im still getting used to heroeswiki lol i still dont know how to link things up --Skyeatsout 21:17, 4 March 2009 (EST)

  • Well, you look like you've got the signature down, right? That's not too bad! Now, for linking things, all you do is add two square brackets one each side of the word you want to link. So if I want to link the word "Sylar", I will type Sylar and I get Sylar. If I want to link to Sylar's page but use different text, I separate the link from the text with a pipe, like this: a serial killer and I get this: a serial killer. Check out this help section for more information. And if you're still having trouble, feel free to stop on over and ask me. That's what I'm here for! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:23, 4 March 2009 (EST)

thank you so much --Skyeatsout 21:27, 4 March 2009 (EST)

Heroes renewed

Hey, did you hear that people from NBC said Heroes will be back for the 4th season? It's not official, but they've said they'll be back. So, we can stop worrying! :) And they've said they're thinking about how many seasons Heroes will have so we'll probably know when this series will end (as we already know when, for example, Lost and Grey's Anatomy will end). They don't want it to end with the next season cause Heroes may not be the most watched series in USA but it is in some other countries as Japan. This is really great news! :)--Alen (talk) 16:28, 5 March 2009 (EST)

  • I haven't heard anything official either...but I've heard a lot of tweets on Twitter and exchanged a few emails with some of the staff. A fourth season looks promising! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:48, 5 March 2009 (EST)
    • I'm so glad to hear that! But I don't understand the ratings in America, I hope they'll change. TAMI ratings are great, but Nielsen aren't. But Heroes is a number 1 show in some countries so that will save the day! --Alen (talk) 11:10, 6 March 2009 (EST)
      • Ultimately, I think we're seeing a shift in how people watch television. To be honest, there are only two shows that I ever watch live: Heroes and Lost. And even then, I'll watch them later that night with my wife if she works the late shift. But an increasingly large amount of people watch their shows in alternative ways (TiVo, DVR, Hulu, NBC.com, iTunes, DVD, etc.) It's the same with the music business--people listen to music differently than they did in the past. It takes awhile for the industry to catch up. If you ask me, NBC is a leader in the revolution for watching entertainment through alterate media. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:15, 6 March 2009 (EST)
        • Yeah, and as we can see, Heroes is probably the number one show in those alternative ways of watching the shows.--Alen (talk) 11:44, 6 March 2009 (EST)
          • Not always the first, but definitely high up there. They rank very high for shows watched online and on DVR. Entertainment Weekly publishes those kinds of statistics quite often. Sometimes there are only a handful of shows (like Lost and The Office) that beat Heroes in alternate viewership. See here and here for some examples. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:35, 6 March 2009 (EST)
            • I've read somewhere that, overall, Heroes has the highest number of views with those alternate ways. Yeah, it's not always the first but they say Heroes is the number 1 show with those kind of views. If only I could remember where I've found that information so I could confirm it with a link... But anyways, I'm glad the TAMi ratings are always high and that we are going to enjoy Heroes for at least one more year!--Alen (talk) 17:45, 6 March 2009 (EST)

Created pages

As you would have noticed I have been going through the episodes creating pages for those red links, I have one problem, Julio Leal, I created the page but because he plays several characters his info box says character not characters, just thought you could look at it :) Oh and sorry about all the edits you had to do, I try to get the page to a good level but it doesn't always happen. --posted by Laughingdevilboy Talk 15:33, 8 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Adding a comma to the "character" field makes it say "characters". (The same goes for many of the fields in the character box, like "parent/s", "child/ren" etc.) When there's more than one character, the links must be done manually, though. I'll take care of it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:44, 8 March 2009 (EDT)

          • Is there a table or website with the abbreviations on? Since I don't live in the US i don't know them thanks :) --posted by Laughingdevilboy

  • I have a problem/question, How do you get a photo from IMDB? As I need one for Nigel Gibbs (IMDN number 0316708). Thanks --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Talk 17:41, 11 March 2009 (EDT)

    • When you're on the IMDb page, click on the actor's image. It'll take you to some images of him. I'll upload one now under the name Image:Nigel Gibbs.jpg. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:50, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Thanks for uploading the image, I went on there but couldn't save an image. I would love to be a patroller :) It would be a honour :)--posted by Laughingdevilboy

Talk 13:04, 12 March 2009 (EDT)

        • It's an honor to be able to offer it to you! ... With IMDb pictures, they no longer allow you to right click and save the image (or at least I've never been able to figure out a way to do it). Instead, you have to take a screenshot of your computer, and then crop (and usually shrink) the image in an image editing program. Normally, I upload all the new actor images the night the episode airs. But this week has been tough for me. My graduate class ends on Friday, so I'm working on a few papers. Sunday is also a payment deadline for the camp I run, so I've got people calling with last minute questions. Sorry I've been busy...life should hopefully slow down next week! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:50, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
          • No problem, I can understand the stress you are under, I just thought I would help out and gain some experience in uploading images :) I will remember this for next time. Oh and I have started patrolling and everything seems fine, if I get stuck I will ask you or another patroller. Thanks again for this opportunity. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

    • That's fine. The only one I've really noticed from you so far is "programme" (should be "program"). But UK spellings are a bit easier to catch than missing commas. Thanks, and keep up the good work, LDB! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:26, 16 March 2009 (EDT)

Mara LaFontaine

What is the name of her character and has it been created? --posted by Laughingdevilboy Talk 13:41, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

  • According to IMDb (which is often updated by the actors themselves), Mara LaFontaine portrays Beth. The page exists, but it's not completed at all. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:07, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
    • I ended up creating the page, I should have made myself more clear, I meant is she going to be called Beth or Beth (babysitter). But since there were many red links for Beth I assumed that that was her name. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Talk 16:12, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

      • Good assumption. We don't have any other characters named Beth, so I think just leaving as Beth is fine. If there's another character down the road who is also named Beth, then we can move the babysitter's page, and update any links that are already created. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:14, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

Assignment Tracker 2.0 Template

I know this is a stipid question, but how do you use it? --Sylar Fan09 14:35, 10 March 2009

  • Not a stupid question at all. If you go to the usage section of the template page, you'll see a template format with all the variables listed. Copy and paste that into a new page (if you're creating a fan page, you'll want to do it under your user namespace, so the title of the new page will start with "User:Sylar Fan09/TITLE" where "TITLE" is the rest of the article's name). Then fill in all the variables. Play around with it a bit to see what changes--be sure to use the "show preview" button before saving so you can see what it looks like first. To see an example, click on pretty much any of the pages listed here (or at least the ones that say "(inclusion)"). Take a look at the code for this really good page for an example. Let me know if you need more help beyond that. Have fun! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:13, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Thank you so much, this is really fun :) --Sylar Fan09 6:41, 10 March 2009
      • Glad you like it! Have you created a page with the template? I don't see it... Hey, completely unrelated: when writing on a talk page, you should always sign your comment. You can do this by clicking the signature button, or by typing four tildes ~~~~. Let me know if you have trouble with that. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:21, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Sorry to keep on asking you questions, but how do you get the similar person and the control index to work? I'm sorry about the signature thing, I'm still new at this.--Sylar Fan09 21:57, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
          • No need to be sorry. For the control index, just type in a number between 0 and 100. It should look like this:
            | control = 65
For the similar person, just type in the name of the person. It should look like this:
            | similar person = Echo DeMille

Hope that helps. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask. (Great job on the signature!) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:47, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

A few quick questions how do you add pics and what is a good program for the Ability Diagram? Oh,is it possible to add pictures from Heroes wiki?--Sylar Fan09 19:05, 11 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Just add the image's name to the correct field. For instance, add
    | image = At C001Photo.jpg
to get an image of Hana. You can only add images that have been uploaded to Heroes Wiki. For editing images, I suggest Gimp. It's pretty much all I use, and I find that it has everything I need. Hope that helps... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:46, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Thank so much with being patient with me though this process,I know I can be a little slow... thank you again Ryan I appreciate all of your help! By the way which Web Mirrors do you use on GIMP?--Sylar Fan09 22:58, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Oh never mind about the web mirrors, I just noticed what I did wrong.--Sylar Fan09 23:01, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Good, because I have no idea what web mirrors are. :) Hey, one other little thing--when adding a comment to a talk page, be sure to thread it properly by adding some asterisks before your comment. So for instance, I put three asterisks before your last comment, and this one has four. If you reply, you'll add five asterisks before your comment. That just helps keep things organized. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:06, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
          • I'm Finally done! And thanks again for all the help I really appreciate it:) It is currently on my user page, so check it out and tell what you think, and tell me anything I need to change.--Sylar Fan09 21:31, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
            • It looks great! Where does the nickname "werewolf" come from? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:38, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
              • It was just because I like wolves growing up, and I was always taller and more hairy than other people and it just became a playful joke. It's still used some in high school, even though you would think I would have lived it down by now.Whoa, I just noticed I was on your new images list, kind of thougth I maded a missake when I first saw it :) I was wondering is there a way to edit the main pic so it like the other other ones(kind of like the blue shading) --Sylar Fan09 21:50, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
                • Yeah, I like to keep track of new images that are uploaded, and I find that putting them right on my user page helps remind me to check up on them. To edit a picture, you'll have to do that in an external program. I like Gimp. There's an option on gimp to change the levels of the colors. Simply add more blue and play around with it until it's the way you want it to look. Then reupload the image over the old one. Hope that helps... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:01, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
                  • yea, tried to change the color to blue on gimp, and even tried to turn the pic Black and white on paint(neither of them worked for me).But I like the file as is, so I'm going to leave it alone... thanks for reammending GIMP it really is a great program for editing :)--Sylar Fan09 01:09, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
                    • It's great, isn't it? It's all I use. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:32, 14 March 2009 (EDT
                      • Yeah, I like it and I can't wait to learn how to use it better! By the way have you created a custom assignment tracker?--Sylar Fan09 01:46, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
                        • Sure--since I created the template, I guess I created all of them! :) No, I haven't created an AT page for myself. I'd rather see what others create themselves. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:49, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
                          • You Should. One of you Abilities could be Enhanced Teaching or something like that(you seem to be very good at it). Thank you for making this template, I remember thinking back when Matt's , Sylar's, Ted's, and Hana's first came out, that someone needs create a program to make your own assignment tracker, and that someone turned out to be you!--Sylar Fan09 02:08, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
                            • I only wish I had thought of it months earlier when the Assignment Tracker pages were still being created and released on a regular basis. Oh well! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:11, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
                              • Better late than never, and hopefully they will make more, because many of the charters are without them. And with the US using AT to track (such as with Sylar) we may see more, who knows. (for some reason I wish they made one for Peter, I just would like to see what it would look like.)--Sylar Fan09 02:25, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Ok ryan I have made a new AT file where do I need to save it? Can you help Me?--Sylar Fan09 16:51, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
    • You can create a new page if you'd like. Just make sure the name of the page begins with your username and a forward slash. For instance, User:Sylar Fan09/Assignment Tracker might be a good name. Other people have titled their pages with the name of their character, like User:Psilaq Remake/Kelsey's Assignment Tracker, User:Piemanmoo/Assignment Tracker 2.0/Curtis Hovsepian, or User:Raiku/Assignment Tracker 2.0: Clark Kent. Let me know if you need me to explain that a bit more. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:02, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Sorry about uploading that picture 3 times but when I try to upload a new version it just uploads like a brand new pic--Sylar Fan09 23:39, 14 March 2009 (EDT)
        • I have one more question and I promise I stop asking you about the Assignment Tracker 2.0 Template, but is there any way to copy and paste a AT to a file on your computer? That way you can view them without getting online. Thanks :)--Sylar Fan09 16:09, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
          • No, not that I know of. Don't worry about asking questions--that's how we learn, and that's what I'm here for. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:44, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
            • Ok, I just figured you would get tried of me asking questions... But thanks for all the help!--Sylar Fan09 17:01, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
              • If I were to get tired of your questions, I'd either tell you, or just stop responding. I can only think of one person's questions which I'm tired of, and they're not yours. :) Plus, I'm a teacher--I'm asked questions all day long! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:09, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
                • That's good your a teacher you have a talent for it:) Oh I just noticed the password on the template is it a way to lock them or is it just for fun?--Sylar Fan09 22:18, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
                  • The password is for the "actual" assignment tracker pages (like Assignment Tracker 2.0/Matt Parkman, not for the fan-created pages. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:33, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
                    • Oh, my mistake, thanks :)--Sylar Fan09 22:41, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
                      • This is probably no surprise but I have another question... Do you know how they did the fan-made assignment tracker page on Mr. Muggles? at [1]--Sylar Fan09 22:58, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
                        • Good Photoshop skills. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:46, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
                          • Whoa, wish I had those kind of talents, Think I'll stick with your template I think it would be way less stressful. Still can't believe someone could to that on Photoshop. It looks so realistic.--Sylar Fan09 00:01, 21 March 2009 (EDT) :)

  • Hi, GB. I'm doing well, and my family is doing well, too. Very little drama at the moment, so that's always a good thing! Thanks for asking... I'll go check out the socks page now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:17, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

        • To be brief... YOU !!!! :) Gabriel Bishop 16:29, 10 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop
          • Oh, um, sure. I'm flattered. I'm not sure I would have anything interesting to say...but sure, if you want to interview me, that's fine. How do you want to set it up? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:22, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
            • Well i havent set it out fully yet but i was hoping to ask you simple heroes,You questions and then what you think will happen in future/series finale. Also could i report bulliying if you look at Socks talk page then i hope yo will see what i meant. Otherwise i dont know what to do :) Gabriel Bishop 02:52, 11 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop
              • The bullying I'm most concerned about at User talk:Gabriel Bishop/Socks is from you. You ordered people to shut up, told them they are ruining websites and Heroes, and possibly accused them of being perverts. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:59, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
                • Forgeting that my silly and sorta immature behaviour do you think you can still do the interview tonight or tommorow since u r in america :) Gabriel Bishop 09:52, 12 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop
                  • I'm pretty busy tonight, but tomorrow might be better. My graduate class will be finished, so I should be available. I'm going out with my wife on Friday night, but I should be home around 10 or 11 pm, EST. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:01, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
                  • Oh okay maybe saturday since you have to remember im British so 5 hours before you :) Gabriel Bishop 12:07, 12 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop
                  • So what do you think ? Gabriel Bishop 14:44, 12 March 2009
                    • I think you're actually five hours after me. So if it's 4 pm in Pennsylvania, it's 9 pm in England. Saturday I'm going out with friends, so that probably won't work. Friday's not bad, but Sunday night is much better for me. My wife is working, so I'll have the evening free... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:46, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
                      • Oh thats fine then :) Gabriel Bishop 03:06, 13 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop

Question about Spoilers

Over in the discussion page for Shades of Gray Icykidd mentions plot points from the upcoming episode. That's breaking the rules, isn't it? Just wanted to make sure though if he was. -- Bonchilla 11 March 2009 (GMT+3)

  • "Breaking the rules" is a bit of a negative way to say it, especially since people usually don't mean to do wrong. But you're right, spoiler content (including stuff from previews) does not belong on non spoiler pages (including episode talk pages). -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:41, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Yeah, my bad. Just couldn't think of a nicer way to phrase it though, heh. Still, I suppose that's what stress from the Education major does to a person ^^ -- Bonchilla 08:26, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Are you an education major? What area? I teach 6th grade... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:01, 11 March 2009 (EDT)
        • You do? I'm still in my first year, dealing with my second semester. I'm leaning toward Special Education mostly. What's it like being a teacher? Were you scared when you first started? -- Bonchilla 08:04, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
          • Totally scared. But exhilarated, too! I taught fourth grade my first year, and then moved to third for two years after that. I love it. I still get that feeling of excitement when I wake up in the morning. There are hard days and it's a lot to juggle, but I love it, I really do. I can't imagine myself doing anything else!...My best (unsolicited) advice to you while you're still in school is to sit back and soak up as much as you can (especially about how to do planning). Then realize that once you start student teaching, that's when your "real" learning starts. I learned more in my first three days of student teaching than I did in all my college career. Then realize, too, that once you start teaching on your own, the book is totally rewritten and you'll have to start all over again. What a ride! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:21, 12 March 2009 (EDT)
            • I'm so sorry this reply is late! >_< I didn't know you replied - my bad. I'll take your advice, although I don't think I have what it takes to overcome my fears as a teacher, hehe...I was just wondering; do you think children are harder to teach than teenagers? -- Bonchilla 09:53, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
              • I'd rather teach an elementary-aged child than a teenager. But my wife, a former high school teacher, disagrees--she'd rather teach teenagers. We both agree, though, that anything's better than teaching a kid in middle school! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:59, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
                • haha oh no! Why? What's wrong with Middle School students? Is it because they're about to hit puberty? :P Have any of you taught Special ED for a while? ^^ -- Bonchilla 00:57:44, 26 March 2009 EDT
                  • Two words: Hor. Mones. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:59, 26 March 2009 (EDT)
                    • Hah! Had a feeling! I'm facing the same crisis with my sister right now - why do they have to grow up so fast though? *sigh* -- Bonchilla 08:43, 26 March 2009 (EDT)

Heroes Interactive

I noticed the Heroes Interactive hasn't yet been posted for the past two episodes. Are you still recording the messages and will get to them later, or are we now missing this?--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:28, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

  • No, I have both of them sitting on my phone. I'm just being lazy. :) I'll get to them this week... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:30, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Ah, okay. Thanks. BTW, please give me a heads up when you get around to checking the test site.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:36, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Will do. And thanks for the gentle reminders. :) I know, I haven't quite been as active on HW lately. I've been using editing more of a way to relax lately rather than to improve the site. Work stress etc. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:38, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
        • That's okay. You're still doing a lot here and it's very much appreciated. If we need to wait till the next hiatus to work on improving the site, that's okay with me. Though it would probably be good to get the interviews up soon, so feel free to let me know if you need help with transcribing the latest one.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:47, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
          • Thanks. My wife works an overnight on Thursday, so I'm planning on transcribing then. It's not long, but it's a bit to sort through. I should get it done in one night. Other than that, I'm just waiting to hear back from Glenn Hetrick. I'll also be interviewing Timm Keppler (and maybe Jim Martin?) again sometime soon. There's another one or two down the road... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:59, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
            • Yeah, sounds like fun. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:01, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

Powers Exhibited

There are some episodes with this and some without, should this be on the episode page or not? There are multiple revisions and deletions over this and I'm not sure which is right and which is not. --Ross R. Smith 13:05, 11 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I don't think that section should be on the episode pages. It's never been on before, and it's a recent addition. I don't think it's ever been properly discussed--or at least I haven't ever seen a discussion about it. Ultimately, I don't think it's needed at all. We have a comprehensive list of examples of power use, pretty much all of which are properly sourced with the episodes they came from. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:48, 11 March 2009 (EDT)

Annoying ad

Other Wikia

Have you seen |this?| Thought it was interesting how...different it is from this one. --Crazylicious 12:11, 15 March 2009 (EDT)

  • And on that point, have you checked out any of the portals on there? Again the difference is interesting.--Steely McBeam - (talk) 12:31, 15 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Back in the day, there were about six or seven wikis that focused on Heroes. Most of them have become defunct (here's one that's still around). The one at Wikia is still around and is pretty current. They've taken some of our content (well, our images and our templates--see here), but I'm not too miffed by it. I've certainly taken a few templates from Wikipedia, and a lot of the images I upload come from sources like IMDb. Incidentally, Wikia has approached us in the past about partnering with them. I think that was before our partnership with NBC. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:54, 15 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Hmph! Didnt know that, I wonder it we'da been merged with the other one. Incidentaly, Lostpedia is now a Wikia, they must have been approached the same way we were. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 16:41, 15 March 2009 (EDT)
        • I believe at the time, there was no Heroes site at Wikia. The one you see now first started somewhere else, I believe. But honestly, I can't remember. Yes, I've noticed the changes at Lostpedia. To be honest, they've only cemented my opinion that it's a good thing we didn't move to Wikia. I think NBC is a much better deal for us, anyway. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:13, 15 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Hey, no worries! You do what you can when you can. School and "real" responsibilities should always come first. I've been under a few deadlines myself, lately. Thank goodness for no Heroes tonight so all the wiki editors can catch their breath a bit! Tar emission

Bender moved the article without consensus, and I am having trouble moving it back. What am I doing wrong? -- Tristan0709 talk 18:51, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

  • You're not doing anything wrong. When an article is moved, it creates a redirect. Once that redirect is edited, the article can't be moved back until the redirect page (or the redirect page that was edited) is deleted. That can only be done by an administrator. So the only way you can move an article over a redirect is if the redirect has not been edited. (At least that's the way I understand it.) However, neither the title "tar emission" nor "oil emission" has consensus. If we don't have consensus on another name, according to our naming conventions, it will have to be "Howie's ability". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:13, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

I'm sorry

You're absolutely right. I'm going to stop renaming pages without a consensus. I just can't seem to do anything right. My apologies. I just felt that the substance that Howie secreted seemed to be much more like oil than tar. Tar is sticky and oil is slippery. I didn't want to have it be another specific person's ability. I'm not trying to cause problems, but I see that I am. -- - Bender · Talk-

  • It's less about causing problems and more about just working together as a community. It's difficult and slow sometimes, but it's the way we work things around here. :) Don't beat yourself up--I didn't assume you were vandalizing, I assumed you were doing what you thought was right. I'm glad that's actually the case. But I also want to make sure that Heroes Wiki's policies and procedures are followed. No matter, I just got an answer from Jim Martin. I'll head on over to talk:oil emission. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:06, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

Holidays

So, I noticed Lostpedia have turned all their links green and have a new logo for St. Patrick's Day. Have we ever considered doing something special for holidays? -- Tristan0709 talk 00:03, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

  • What about on April Fools Day we link everything on the front page to Mr. Muggles? You know it makes sense.--Steely McBeam - (talk) 00:08, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
    • There's something somewhat macabre about shamrocks falling from Flight 815. :) No, I don't know if we've ever done anything seasonal like that before... :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:12, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
      • For what it's worth, I came up with a holidays and observances template to list the various holidays and observances, but it's just on my user page for now since it wasn't desired for the main page or current events (being deemed unnecessary). I doubt minds will change for the main pages, but if you want to work on adding an opt-in option to change the user infobox colors for holidays (i.e. orange and black for halloween, shades of green for St. Patrick's, red and green for christmas, etc,), that is a possibility my template could allow.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:56, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

Heroes = 2nd?

So, your top show is Lost eh? What have you been thinking about the season so far? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:06, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

  • What do I think about Lost? It's hard for me to compare seasons of Lost, just like it's hard for me to compare Lord of the Rings movies. Not only are they all great--even a "bad" episode of Lost is better than most everything else on TV--but really, all the seasons tell one giant story. I can't break it up in my mind. But yes, I am loving this season. I actually woke up this morning a little sad because I didn't have Lost to look forward to tonight. (It didn't help that I'm in withdrawal mode since Lost wasn't on last week, and Heroes wasn't on this week!) :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:13, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
    • I told someone once that although Heroes and Smallville were my favourite shows, Lost and Supernatural were the best that I watch. Lost is incomparable - intelligent, lots of continuity, etc. Although I may have come on a bit late, nothing else I watch will ever compare to Lost. -- Tristan0709 talk 01:18, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Totally agree. I didn't start watching the first season of Lost until the summer after it aired (I caught it during reruns and then filled in with the DVD after that), and I'm just glad that it aired while I was at an age where I could truly appreciate it. I know I'm a dork, but I honestly look forward to the day when I can sit my sons down and watch Lost all the way through with them so they can fully appreciate both the grandness and the details of the show. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:25, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Just occurred to me that I have never watched a television series in it's correct order. Bizarre. -- Tristan0709 talk 01:27, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
          • Lost is a pretty good show (it's my 2nd), although for seasons 1-3, I was more guy in the room while my grandpa watched emgrosed than fan of any caliber, only getting back into it knowing that there was an end and thanks to the strike. Oddly enough, he dont like the show very much now, with all the time travel and the flashbacks/forwards. Interesting that they got folks off the island last season (after four seasons of that being their quest), only to put most of them back mid this season. And whatchu talking about, Willis? A new Lost will be tonight for you, tomorrow night for me. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:43, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
            • Well, yeah, there's a new one tonight (Wednesday), but there wasn't one yesterday (Tuesday). Thank goodness for Wednesdays at home with my wife! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:57, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
            • I really don't like Lost and I can't see what everybody sees in it. It's really boring. Just my opinion :)--Alen (talk) 12:32, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
              • I think Lost is a great show.... .... for someone who can understand it i tried to watch it but really didnt like it .but by the looks of it its a great show that everyone likes :) Gabriel Bishop 12:54, 18 March 2009 (EDT) Gabriel Bishop

Reginald James

I stared created a page for him, however when I went onto IMDB it says he appeared in 5 years gone, does this mean he is a spoiler still. If you could either find out if this is true or just tell me to create the spoiler page anyways I would be grateful. :) --posted by Laughingdevilboy Talk 16:59, 18 March 2009 (GMT)

  • Isn't there already a page for him at Reginald James? His appearance in Five Years Gone obviously isn't a spoiler, but I guess his (minor) upcoming appearances are. I don't think there's any need to create the page. Let's just update the existing page after he appears. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:50, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
  • Oh, I see. I remember seeing his name (see here), but couldn't find him in the episode (or didn't look hard enough). The page is fine. The image needs to be redone. We'll have to take a harder look at Five Years Gone to see if we can find him. My guess is he's a DHS guard. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:55, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

Hey, Ryan. Thought you'd might like to check these out. [2], [3], [4], [5]. What did you think of the new Lost, by the way?--Citizen 22:40, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Ha! Those are great! Where are they from?...Loved Lost. I love how crazy that show is, and how I can seem to simultaneously be completely confused and make total sense of it. I love the fractured story structure (if you can call it that) and I loved the tension between some of the characters. What an awesome show. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:47, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
    • They're from the latest issue of the Heroes magazine, which I found scans of on 9thWonders.com. Regarding Lost, I agree. That's what makes it so good.--Citizen 08:44, 20 March 2009 (EDT)

Uncredited Image

You told me that the lead image on my page was uncredited. ok, so how do I go about crediting it? And what does crediting it entail? I created that image on another website ([6]). Is that what I need to say?--Skullman1392 22:11, 19 March 2009 (EDT)

  • If you created the image, then yes, what you wrote above is all you need to say--but put it on the image page, and you'll be golden. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:34, 19 March 2009 (EDT)
    • I put links to the image website rather than the sole image page from the websites for the two images and hopefully that will work. The Supergirl image is not needed and I can't find the source for that, so it can be deleted. I'm still trying to find the source for the Clark Heat Vision. ---- - Bender · Talk-
  • Ryan, I appreciate you letting me know that, I'll remember to credit any images I upload. Thanks :D--Skullman1392 22:46, 19 March 2009 (EDT)

Guess what?

I've managed to completely and utterly muck something up again! In all seriousness, in case you haven't noticed, I started a new project on Heroes podcasts, which I believe was one of my original intentions when first joining the wiki. If you could, I'd like some help with creating portal for them, or directing me to a portal in which you think they would be suited in, and finding a way to make the image look normal. Anything else you could do regarding this project would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -- Tristan0709 talk 03:08, 20 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I'm not a fan of only two items in a portal, but if you're going to be making more fan creation articles about podcasts, then I think that'll be good. I'll work on it in a few minutes... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:50, 20 March 2009 (EDT)
    • It took me awhile (and set me off on a few other side projects, which seems to be a theme in my life), but it's taken care of. Now for those other articles to populate the portal... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:37, 21 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Yes, will do that soon. I'm thinking the disbanded 3 Heroes (once guest-starring...you!), the vanished The Company (podcast), and the expensive gspn.tv Heroes Fan Podcast. I'm sure there's a heap more, but sticking with those for now. -- Tristan0709 talk 01:41, 21 March 2009 (EDT)

I've done 3 Heroes, but seem to be having a considerable amount of trouble finding a decent image of their logo -- thier site has expired, and Google Images isn't being much of a help. Once an image is found, I'll add it to the portal. -- Tristan0709 talk 02:27, 21 March 2009 (EDT)

Hey Ryan. You prabably haven't looked at bbc heroes in a while (or ever), but my friend told me about it today. If you look under characters, it still lists the Haitian as a character (although we haven't seen him this season and I doubt we will). What I think is more interesting though, is the past characters, it lists: Maya as a past character, Meredith as dead (if you look under her profile it says her location is deceased), Flint as last seen in the Pinehearst building, but interestingly not dead. I know this is probably less canon that Harry Fletcher theories but, you never know it might come from a source in the team. Thanks --IronyUTC CH 12:34, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Thanks, Irony. I've checked out the BBC site a few times before, but not recently. The characters section is somewhat new and revamped. Very cool, and very well done. Well, mostly well done--it looks good. :) Yeah, there's some odd speculation there, isn't there? Remember, though, that even NBC.com is not a canon or near-canon site. NBC has been prone to plenty of mistakes on their website (I'd love to see an archived list of all their mistakes in a userpage somewhere), and I'm sure the BBC makes their fair share, too. But I should point out that the Haitian was seen a lot this season--remember when Peter and Nathan went to Haiti and we met Samedi? :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:55, 23 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Sorry, meant volume (I don't think we've seen him recently). --IronyUTC CH 14:58, 23 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Yeah, you're right, it's been awhile. He really seems to operate in the shadows and on his own, doesn't he? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:59, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

i thought it was very good article

IceGhost78 but i will still call dibs as the first to make it again when it pops up on the show lol

Red links

Hi, just a few questions, whats happening with the national guard as there are many red links for him and I don't know whether to change them or not and could you look at the podcast red links to see if any can be removed, as I know nothing about podcasts and don't want to change anything. Thanks --posted by Laughingdevilboy Talk 20:06, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

  • The page that was created for the national guard character was virtually empty--no picture, no information, nothing. It was messing up the minor character portals, too. As soon as some more information is gathered on him (I'm working on it), we can recreate the page. Addressing a the macro story, there's nothing wrong with red links. They're good to have because they let us know which pages need to be created. In many cases, it's better to have a red link than to have an empty or subpar page written. Red links get more attention than stubs. Really, the only places I don't like having red links are on the main page. As for the podcasts pages, I'm not really writing those articles. I don't know much about podcasts, either. I don't care much one way or the other what happens with the articles. But I think the red links (last time I checked) are only on my talk page, so they're not really hurting anything...and whoever is making the pages is probably is keeping the links around to remind him which pages need to be made. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:20, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Hiro's new ability

Hello. I believe that after Matt Jr. touched Hiro, he regained the ability to control time, but not to teleport. I don't believe he needs to be touching Matt Jr. to use his power its just that he doesn't have teleportation. Masi Oka stated that Hiro's new power would have a slight twist to his old one.

  • Cool thoughts! I think it's exactly as Hiro said: Matt Jr. was able to make some of his power go, but not all of it. I don't think there's a new power, just a new twist on an old power. Can't wait to see more! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:32, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Tracy

  • Tracy is dead? Did you catch the wink after she was shattered? I think there may be some doubt. (Admin 22:36, 23 March 2009 (EDT))
    • Wink? What wink? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:38, 23 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Adding my 2 cents, i thought it was a tear!--Anthony Gooch 22:39, 23 March 2009 (EDT)
        • There was a blink and a tear, actually. (Admin 22:41, 23 March 2009 (EDT))
      • When they showed her frozen shattered face on the ground. Watch her right eye (our left). Interesting. :) (Admin 22:39, 23 March 2009 (EDT))
        • Oh, I just thought that was a drip, not a living wink. Didn't even occur to me. But she was shot in the chest. And frozen. And shattered. Hmm... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:43, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Sorry about that.

Since cold snap aired he looks more like he did in the recent picture i uploaded. I tried to make the picture standard size but it wasn't small enough. Once again sorry if you felt I messed things up --Killswitchix 22:11, 23 March 2009

  • Nope, you didn't mess anything up! :) I just wanted to be clear that images of characters need to be of the characters, and not the actors. Also, the image that's there is actually from Season Three. He's standing in front of Tracy, actually. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:16, 23 March 2009 (EDT)

Are you going to leave Ando's ability as just supercharging or change it to something new with his new found blast type thing. --Traphik94 05:15, 24 March 2009

  • Is it a new thing? Isn't it the same thing we saw him do in The Second Coming? ... But to answer your question, no, I'm not going to do anything. Personally, I don't think it needs to be changed, especially since he hasn't really learned anything new to us. New to him, but not new to the audience, if that makes any sense. But even if I did think something needed to be changed, I would discuss it at Talk:Ability supercharging. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 07:46, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
    • I'm not sure but believe that Ando's ability to supercharge is a side effect of his original ability. He seems to be able to manipulate red energy in any type of way. As in Building 26 episode, he did some sort of fireworks and in Cold Snap, the energy blast. It may just be that supercharging was the first thing Ando did. --Traphik94 16:45, 24 March 2009
      • Sounds interesting. Can't wait to find out more... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:47, 24 March 2009 (EDT)

Coining a new term?

So there are a load of people whose death status are still being debated and remain unknown:

  • Tracy
  • Meredith
  • Flint
  • ....um my Un-Charlie like memory is failing me, but i'm sure there has to be more examples..

but i'm thinking we use (presumed dead) somewhere in the info box and leave their character description in present tense. Whatcha think?--Anthony Gooch 16:09, 24 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I think this is a good idea, it makes more sense than not even acknoledging that they we injured and presumed dead --IronyUTC CH 16:11, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
    • In addition, the number of "soandso's ability" is increasing. A page for holder name abilities would also be necessary.--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 17:12, 24 March 2009 (EDT)
      • I agree, one other example I can think of is Perrin Crocker, his status is like Tracy's as his presumed death is due to his ability. Actually all there presumed deaths are related to their abilities, I see a pattern emerging lol. --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Target page

Hi Iam fairly new to this. Anyway on Target photographs of main characters are quite confusing and looks mess. I dont know how to edit. Many thanks! Hopwas2007 12:11, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I think it actually looks pretty good...but if you'd like to edit the gallery, it's found at Template:Targetsimagemap. If you have something specific you'd like to see or something you'd like to change or an idea of how to organize it, feel free to drop me a line. You can also let HiroDynoSlayer know (here's his talk page) since it's kind of his pet project. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:10, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

        • It looks fine to me. Can somebody take a screenshot so I can see what the issue is? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:02, 25 March 2009 (EDT)
      • It's Image:Targets Problem.jpg, as you can see for: Claire, Luke Monica, Doyle, the Haitian and Daphne there is no name bu the bottom overlaps, I think it should look like the other ones on that row. (Feel free to delete that image as soon as the problem is fixed). Thanks --IronyUTC CH 16:20, 25 March 2009 (EDT)

Arabic Wiki

Dear Ryangibsonstewart I'm really interested in creating Heroes wiki for Arabic. the thing is that I thought it would be easier fo memeber to create new sub pages but I guess its not. anyway, I'll be glad if you can help me creating Arabic wiki for Heroes. The show has so many fans in MENA region its actually one of the most downloaded TV show in the region. I've been a fan since the beginning 2 years ago and I've never miss an episode. since the show will be aired next month for the 1st time in the middle east on MBC Action the leading TV channel specialized in Action films and TV series, I thought it would be great to start with the Arabic wiki.

I appreciate your taking the time

Muhamma Mansour

  • Thanks, Muhamma. I'm not the one who sets up wikis in other languages--that would be Admin. I'll let him know. However, I should tell you that translating a wiki into another language is a lot of work. It would help if you had other friends interested in helping to translate, and if you had some experience editing wikis. I'm certainly not trying to dissuade you from working on the project, I just want to make sure that you're aware of the time commitment you would be getting into. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:37, 26 March 2009 (EDT)

Me being stupid again.

Hey Ryan. I was just wondering two things (again). Is there any way to stop the contents bar coming up at the top of a page (I mean for my Userpage, as I know you can choose to ignore it). And, I'm not sure if you can do anything about this, but when I put this code in , the picture comes under my userbar instead of next to it. Thanks, :) --IronyUTC CH 09:34, 27 March 2009 (EDT)

  • To remove the TOC from a page, type __NOTOC__ anywhere on the page. tocright keeps the TOC, but moves it to the right, which is a kind of cool option. I forget the code to put an image next to your userpage. I'll check into it later tonight if I get a chance. I'm going out of town, but I'll see if I can grab a few minutes while I'm at my parents' house. However, in the meantime, ask Miami. He'd know. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:15, 27 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Don't worry, I won't bother Miami, it's not at all urgent --IronyUTC CH 14:15, 27 March 2009 (EDT)
      • Okay, one way to get the image up on the same line as the infobox is to center the image. But really, the only way that I really know to get the image next to the infobox is to use a table that's right floated. If you valign the row to the top, then the image and the infobox will be on the same level. Does that help? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:12, 27 March 2009 (EDT)
        • Yeah, that's great Thanks, (I'm not going to do anythiny yet, though, as I'm kinda busy) :) --IronyUTC CH 06:52, 28 March 2009 (EDT)

You caught the wrong end of my stick

When i said about the interview i meant how did you feel about it being a 5 Star vid ? Gabriel Bishop 10:29, 28 March 2009 (EDT)

  • It was only rated by one person, so it's hard to say that the rating is really accurate. Since then, it's been rated by one more person, and now it's a three star video. I guess that's cool. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:18, 28 March 2009 (EDT)

Julio Leal

Hey Ryan. I'm planning on merging the "multiple" characters that Julio Leal has portrayed, for reasons stated here. You stated that Julio himself told you about his roles. Since his character tends to never have any lines, can you ask him if he appeared in any more episodes? Right now, I think Leal has appeared in 314 and 315 as what is now theshadow agent, 316 as the National Guard soldier, and 317 and 319 as SWAT agent. I'm going to merge all these into SWAT agent, but I'm wondering if Leal's character has appeared in other episodes such as one of the many unnamed agents in 318 or 320. --Radicell 22:24, 28 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Sure, I'll send him an email. I don't mind combining the characters into one--I'm just going off the names Julio himself uses for the characters. Plus, remember that the shadow agent was in DC, I think, and the SWAT agent was in Costa Verde. For the sake of the wiki, though, I have absolutely no problem merging all the characters into one. By the way, there was a very clear image of him in 319, I think. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:32, 28 March 2009 (EDT)

Quotes (2)

Hey Ryan. You know the quotes bar (I may be wrong on this) at the bottom of all the quotes pages, but logically shouldn't it be merged with the season history bar is it is, somewhat of a history of the character. I've done an example here thanks. --IronyUTC CH 17:46, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

  • Although quotes pages contain some history, they are not a full history of the character. Likewise, powers pages contain some character history, but they are not full character histories. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:08, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

About the image that is not credited : http://heroeswiki.com/Image:B5ce9254accbb70c3a29351d.jpg

I took the picture from this site : http://baike.baidu.com/view/1376191.html So I don`t know how to credit the image so if you can make the changes that needs to done it will be great or, the other posibillity : insert instead the photo from this place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twins_of_Destiny because it`s still a Wiki source. I`m new to this stuff so I apologize if I coused any problems --Flaviuxa 20:49, 29 March 2009

  • No problems caused, it just needs to be taken care of. All that needs to happen is that the source needs to go on the image's page. I'll take care of it now for you. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:50, 29 March 2009 (EDT)
    • Thanks for fixing the problem but I have a question. I put that article about the similaritys between Maya&Alejandro and other pair of twins in Maya`s page on Trivia section and now is gone, why ? -- Flaviuxa 21:14, 29 March 2009
      • I removed it. Maya and Alejandro are not necessarily a reference to the Twins of Destiny. To others, they resemble the Wonder Twins, Downpour and Shifter, Mas y Menos, Chibi-Usa and Usagi, Aurora and Northstar, Andreas and Andrea von Strucker, or Palom and Porom. Choosing one set of powered twins favors that set over another, which is misleading and speculative. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:26, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

Help me out buddy.

So i created this...but it needs an image (which i think should be used as a screen shot in the synopsis) of Danko and Sylar and it may need editing, but do you think after that it can become a true Wiki page?...it would need to be moved...p.s. do you like the name? lol--Anthony Gooch 23:01, 30 March 2009 (EDT)

  • The name is awesome! I don't usually weigh in much on the relationship pages, but since you're asking, I think the page is fine. I'll leave my comments at User talk:Anthony Gooch/Syko. As for an image, it might take me a day or two to get around to uploading some images. In the meantime, people usually start uploading images today and tomorrow. Otherwise you can always request one at the screencaps request page. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:00, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

Hi and Bye for a while

Hi Ryan. Do you mind telling User:Climby21023 about the image uploading rules and regulations because he has recently uploaded wrong sized, unsourced and uncategorized images. I want to tell him about it, but I dont really wanna feel like a smart-ass, and plus I used to do those mistakes which means I dont have the right to judge other people's mistakes. Thanks.

By the way, I may be gone from Heroes Wiki for a while because I will have a holiday vacation to the Philippines!!! Where the internet surely is slow LOL. Will miss editing here... =D --NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 06:27, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

  • So you don't want to sound like a smart ass, but you don't mind if I sound like one? :) Teasing. Sure, I'll let him know. By the way, it's for the very reason that you used to make those mistakes that it's okay for you to let other people know what's up. I used to make those same mistakes, too. The trick is that you don't want to come off as a know-it-all or like you're better than somebody else. You're not judging, you're helping. Frame advice as a friendly tip rather than as a chastisement, and you'll be fine. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:04, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
