|West has just learned his girlfriend's biggest secret: her father is the man who abducted him as a child. But what happened that fateful day?|
West, while in junior high school in St. Louis, is abducted by Mr. Bennet and the Haitian, and brought to Primatech Paper Company in Odessa, Texas. Meanwhile, Claire enters Primatech in search of her father, but spots West in a ventilation shaft where he has tried to escape. They introduce themselves, but the Haitian finds West and they disappear, much to Claire's confusion. Later, West is back at school and has no memory of the day before, only Mr. Bennet. A disappointed Claire returns to her normal life, but decides that she may try out for cheerleading.
- Special is told from the perspective of two people: Claire (whose thoughts are outlined in red) and West (whose thoughts are outlined in blue). This is not the first graphic novel to be told from two points of view: Turning Point showcased both Audrey's and Sylar's thoughts.
- Claire wears a bear backpack, possibly a reference to Noah's nickname for Claire, "Claire Bear".
