In [[The Civilian chapter summaries#Chapter 501|chapter 1 of The Civilian]], [[Crazy Tom]] tells [[Rachel]] that her [[Leona|mom]] wants to meet her at the diner. She arrives, and Leona asks if she can move in with her, and Rachel agrees.

In [[The Civilian chapter summaries#Chapter 502|chapter 2 of The Civilian]], [[Tim]] tells [[Rachel]] that her [[Leona|mom]] is at the diner. When she arrives, she asks why Leona took a job as a waitress. She tells her she wanted to help pay the rent, and warns her that [[Toby|someone]] in [[Lyneboro|town]] manifested a [[ability]], and to be careful.

In [[The Civilian chapter summaries#Chapter 503|chapter 3 of The Civilian]], [[Rachel]] is talking to [[Leona]] when [[Kelly]] enters. She glares at Leona, and leaves.
